Elk Creek RV Park, Elk City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed while passing thru Oklahoma. Best thing was the WIFI was excellent where we were in site 20. I didn't go into the restrooms or laundry so can't judge. Fair amount of full timers here but that isn't an issue for me. Easy access from I-40. Because the weather was bad heading east, we stayed an extra night and the office was very accommodating. I didn't need to go inside to give my credit card, which I appreciated. We camped at Elk Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

We ate dinner twice at the Prairie Fire restaurant down the street and it was very good! I had a salad with salmon, blueberry vinagrette, goat cheese, avocado and candied pecans that was excellent!

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Draper, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

There are a fair amount of long term residents, but I didn't find any problems with that. Laundry room was nice, but can get busy with people tying up 3-4 machines at a time. The best part for me was the dog area. Beautiful grass (my dog is used to grass, not dirt) and very spacious. If they fenced it, it would be amazing! We camped at Mountain Shadows RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you are here in early April to early May, the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point is a must do!! The gardens are spectacular. Go early to get a good parking spot.

WillowWind RV Park, Hurricane, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park with grassy areas at most sites except for some of the newer ones in the back. I would have given it a 10, but I don't understand their policy of not accepting mail or packages sent to the park. They did accommodate me because I practically begged them, since we were getting passports, and a check, but I have never had a problem getting things delivered in all the years I have been traveling. We camped at WillowWind RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

JB Diner is a reasonably priced place to eat. Lin's grocery store is right across the street. Go to Kolob Canyon if you have time. No lines, Taylor Creek Trail is awesome there. If you have a national pass, stay in the right lane at the entry gate to buzz thru, once you get to that point. Another fun hike was Kananaras Falls. You have to cross a very cold actively running stream, so be prepared!

Slickrock Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

The rates went up the weekend we were there because of the Jeep rally. Definitely not worth that price, but everything was full. They don't enforce rules on kids in the hot tubs under 16, not a sufficient area to walk the dogs, spaces too close. We camped at Slickrock Campground in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We were in site M34, which is the owner's section and is gorgeous. We did have some spotty wifi probably because of the trees, but loved the grassy area in the front. Laundry room clean with large TV. Only one dryer not working. We decided to stay 2 extra days and had to move to another campground due to availability and missed Portal so much!!! No pool, but I don't use pools in campgrounds anyway. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Wahweap RV and Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has wonderful sites overlooking beautiful Lake Powell. The office is only open until 5, but maybe, during the summer, they stay open later, but for people needing something after that, they are out of luck. Staff very helpful. Laundry facilities were probably the biggest problem as there were several out of service. The price was right, but just not enough. We camped at Wahweap RV and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take Dixie Ellis's lower antelope canyon tour. Just be aware that if it is hot, you might be standing in line for quite awhile waiting to go into the canyon. They do have some covered areas, but we were told that during the summer, the lines can be 2+ hours waiting. Slackers restaurant in town has fabulous burgers! The 2 hour Antelope Canyon boat tour was really nice and just about the right amount of time.

Mesa Regal RV Resort (55+ Park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This place is huge with so many activities if you want to use them. We were visiting our son so didn't make use of the facilities much. My only complaint would be that when we went to the patio grill by the pool on the weekend, they only had one person working, so the line was long. We camped at Mesa Regal RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Buffalo Crossing RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

There is minimal area for pets to be walked. Walking distance to town, super close to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. No cable, Wifi good. Not a park to go if you have kids and want amenities. Better prices than the other local campgrounds. We camped at Buffalo Crossing RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Get an area map (not supplied at campground) and drive up into the forests to find cooler temperatures (10 degrees or more) and take a nice hike. There are a lot of lakes in the area for swimming. This park is along a river but it is difficult to access, which is a shame, but there is a beautiful grassy area that runs behind the RV's that is lovely. Hometown pizza makes a good sub and pizza....closed on Sunday.

Thousand Trails Leavenworth RV Campground, Leavenworth, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

I arrived today with a reservation for 50 amp and full hookup. I was told to drive around and find a site. Fortunately, we were able to find one, but this is absolutely no way to run a campground!! We mainly found a site because we got here early enough. The sites are not level and there are stumps all over that should be ground up. We almost hit one. It is also 20 miles out of Leavenworth. Not being a Thousand Trails member and having to pay full price, I would think the least the park could do, would be to assist people to their sites. After being here for a day, most people in the park are Thousand Trail members, so they are used to finding their own sites but even they agreed it was very difficult the way the park is set up. We camped at Thousand Trails Leavenworth RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

So many things to do in Whistler but the maps aren't very good in the village. Nothing is alphabetical, so you can't find a specific place by looking at the directory. Groceries are expensive. Gas is more expensive than in the US, so fill up before coming. Train wreck trail is neat but the signage is bad so get explicit instructions. Ancient Cedars trail is ok but the road getting to it is full of potholes because the ATV tours use that road.

Hidden Village RV Park & Campground, Lynden, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The park has a pool and playground for kids which we didn't use but it's available. Level sites. Wifi was decent. The rate includes the tax. Proximity to Bellingham and Mt Baker was good. They don't have any information on Bellingham or Mt. Baker, so you have to gather that on your own in town. We camped at Hidden Village RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Elwha Dam RV Park, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park owners are a wonderful family who go out of their way to help with any questions, issues, etc. The laundry facilities offer a stove, refrigerator, sink for people in tents, a beautiful TV to use whenever and new washer and dryers. They are the most expensive I have ever used though at 2.50 per load, but they are nice. Bathrooms are also very nice. Wonderful trails adjacent to the campground for walking. The owner has a wonderful list of restaurants and area attractions to give out. Wifi is bad unless you have a hotspot but they are working on it. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sabai Thai restaurant is excellent! Get the White King Salmon in red curry sauce special. Must go to Hurricane Ridge and do at minimum the Hurricane Hill Hike....if you are in good shape, do the Klahhane Ridge one. Amazing views from both!! If you are coming from north of Seattle, take the ferry from Coupeville to Port Townsend and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation by avoiding the Seattle/Tacoma traffic. Make a reservation though, the ferries are busy.
