Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop off of I-81. Lots of shops and restaurants near by. They keep 9- 50 amp full hook up pull thrus for overnights, so make your reservation early. They fill up every day. You can make the reservation online too. It is a large seasonal campground with lots of areas to walk the dog. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Woodland Hills Campground, Austerlitz, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is mainly a seasonal campground that is huge. Great for walking the dog, but the sites that are used for the overnighters is on grass, not level, difficult to plug in the electric cord, plus a $2 fee to use AC! That's crazy! Some limbs hanging on the way to the campground that hit roofs on big RV's. We camped at Woodland Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Camper's Haven Campground, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Interior roads are very bumpy so just go slow. Great area to walk near the lake. It's a trail that goes for miles through the woods. WiFi worked on and off. Pretty close to town and the CAT Ferry. We camped at Camper's Haven Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice visitor center in town. Do the self guided historic tour of the beautiful homes in town. Petite passage whale tours was fantastic!!! About 1 hr and 40 minutes from campground, but easily doable at 1:30. We saw a bunch of whales, seals and porpoises. They also have a little cafe with great scallop rolls and lobster rolls. Go look for sea glass near Centre-deMeteghan. Down Maxwelton Rd. There is a Frenchys just off the road. Go to the end of the street and walk along the beach.

Saco / Old Orchard Beach KOA, Saco, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $86.00
Overall Rating:

Busy campground, but sites are spacious and level. Great dog park area. Some sites have a lot of shade, others none. Probably my one recommendation would be to have more brochures available in the office for local activities. There is a two page sheet with some restaurant idea, etc, but not the typical campground where there is a wall of things. We camped at Saco / Old Orchard Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The sites vary greatly, so if you want some space and shade, request it when you make your reservation. Some sites were close together with no shade. We were in site 11, and although it was only 30 amp, there are trees on both sides, so we didn't need to run both ACs despite the temps being high. Nice dog walking path behind the campground that you access thru site 45. Didn't use any amenities. We camped at Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax in a Motorhome.

We drove into town and parked to the side of the Citadel and after touring it, walked down to the waterfront. Don't miss the Public Gardens! They are very close to the parking lot. If you are coming from the US, bring your own bottled water. There is a 10 cent deposit on every bottle! 15% tax on everything too, so if you don't like to tip on tax, pay attention to your receipt.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $120.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here last year and discovered you can renew your same site every year before leaving and then potentially change it to a different site come Nov 1. We were able to upgrade our site to water front which was very important to us. It is expensive and crowded if you aren't at the right spot. Lots of mosquitos, so bring your bug spray. Staff is excellent! No sewer is available near the water due to EPA regulations, so it's an extra $15 to have your tanks emptied. I love the proximity to Acadia National Park. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Stop at Tracey's restaurant on the way to Schoodic peninsula for lobster rolls. 2 for $12! 4 ounces of lobster vs 5 at other places that charge $20 for one. The Thirsty Whale on Cottage St has a great haddock BLT for $10.

Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground, Baddeck, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Like others said, the sites are tight, we had a back in and were within several feet of our neighbors on all sides. WIFI works best at 6AM. After 8 it is super slow or non existent and again at night. No cable. Also no place to put dog waste. They say only clear garbage bags in the dumpsters, but dog poop bags are not clear. I tried to have my dog go in the high grassy areas. They have a nature trail that they are trying to clear and make a nice trail. I was warned it could be muddy in places. It was, but I knew that going in. Interior road is bad, but again manageable. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cabot trail is easy to access from here. Just remember, it takes 5+ hours to drive the whole thing and then depending on stops, hikes, etc. it could be longer. Check the weather on both sides before going. We had been told to drive it counterclockwise, but when I checked the weather, it was iffy counterclockwise, but sunny going clockwise. If you are here for several days, get the park pass that is the equivalent of almost 3 days if you plan on going back more than once.

Ponderosa Pines Family Campground, Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a long pull thru that was level and super long. The front section is definitely more crowded, whereas the closer to the water is better. There are huge tent areas for people with tents that are also closer to the water. Plenty of places to walk to see the Bay of Fundy and walk the dog. My main issue was not the campground's fault but my own. This was an overnight stop to Nova Scotia and it was really far from the main road. Won't do that again. Rt 114 was not a great road coming in with a big RV. We camped at Ponderosa Pines Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Moose Lake restaurant in Concord has some reasonably priced and decent food. It closes at 7 except for Friday and Sat which is then 7:30. The town of St. Johnsbury has some nice shops. If you have a dog, there is a huge dog park, (dog mountain),a few miles away that is a fun place to explore. Cabot creamary, covered bridges, "the bird man," (ask at the desk about him). Cheap golf in New Hampshire at the Maplewood Golf Club thru Golf now.

Tall Pines Campground, Canoeing & Country Store, Bainbridge, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fun place to stay if you are going to rent a canoe and float down the river. There is a lot of goose poop in the tent areas which, if I was in a tent, would be a huge issue. Staying by the river is really pleasant. I don't know about the other areas. Easy in and out for RV's. You have to pay extra for decent channels. Verizon phone service wasn't very good. Bob's Diner off of Rt 7 is a good little place for dinner that is several miles from the campground. It closes at 7:30 so go early! The price of diesel gas at the station off the interstate heading to the campground was $3.29 which was much cheaper than a lot of places.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Mount Jackson, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful campground for families with children because there is a wonderful creek that runs alongside the campground for tubing or just playing in the water. Lots of green space, small fishing pond. WiFi was bad. We have Verizon, but the phone service was almost non existent. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Elk Creek RV Park, Elk City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed while passing thru Oklahoma. Best thing was the WIFI was excellent where we were in site 20. I didn't go into the restrooms or laundry so can't judge. Fair amount of full timers here but that isn't an issue for me. Easy access from I-40. Because the weather was bad heading east, we stayed an extra night and the office was very accommodating. I didn't need to go inside to give my credit card, which I appreciated. We camped at Elk Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Draper, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

There are a fair amount of long term residents, but I didn't find any problems with that. Laundry room was nice, but can get busy with people tying up 3-4 machines at a time. The best part for me was the dog area. Beautiful grass (my dog is used to grass, not dirt) and very spacious. If they fenced it, it would be amazing! This is a very nice park with grassy areas at most sites except for some of the newer ones in the back. I would have given it a 10, but I don't understand their policy of not accepting mail or packages sent to the park. They did accommodate me because I practically begged them, since we were getting passports, and a check, but I have never had a problem getting things delivered in all the years I have been traveling. Tips for other Campers:

JB Diner is a reasonably priced place to eat. Lin's grocery store is right across the street. Go to Kolob Canyon if you have time. No lines, Taylor Creek Trail is awesome there. If you have a national pass, stay in the right lane at the entry gate to buzz thru, once you get to that point. Another fun hike was Kananaras Falls. You have to cross a very cold actively running stream, so be prepared!
