Quaint little park exactly 2.5 miles from Atlantic Ocean. Located right next to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Great for kayaking, jet skiing, fishing, and just cruising the water. Just another few miles and the stores available are numerous. Super Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Outback Steakhouse, ABC Store, 3 major pharmacies, PETCO, Kohl's, Veterinary offices, Golden Coral (cleanest I have ever seen), etc. In other words anything you need is right there, yet the campground is remote. The locally owned seafood restaurant Margie and Rays is a must for seafood lovers. The park itself is a little aged but undergoing lots of work. Lots of friendly people to help and hang out with. Oh, and Williams Mobile RV Repair comes here regularly and they do excellent work if you need them.

Absolutely beautiful park. Very nice water park. Yes, a water park with an adult only pool. My 8 year old loved it. Then add the swimming lake and he was thrilled. Now some advice! DO NOT rent the super sites. They are a joke. Only thing you get is a paved site and much less room than traditional. Absolutely worthless to pay the money for this. Talked to 2 others in them and they agreed whole heartedly. The other bad is the ever present golf carts. They are speeding, a few with radios blaring, and driving through the side of my site. They do disappear during quiet time, but take your life in your hands otherwise. They need rules and some sort of control over them! The golf carts and over priced super sites are what lowered my rating. Get a traditional site off the main road, and my rating goes to 9. Control the golf carts and it goes to 10!

Overall nice park. Sites are decent size, but must hunt for one with shade. Can handle most rig sizes. Roads are paved and entrance to sites angled for easy back-in. Has a pool, but it is a public pool and is VERY crowded. It is actually 3 pools (kiddie, 3 ft, and 6 ft) and the kiddie gets closed often due to floaters. We left the pool after 45 minutes because it was too crowded and could only walk around and bump into people. Have been here camping before and is always the same. There is actually an armed Sheriff there to handle the lines and crowds! I must include that in the lower rating since my 7 yr old loves a pool as part of camping. Bathrooms were relatively clean, but could have been better. There are no fans so the restroom and showers were unbelievably hot. We will come again but hopefully can avoid the horrible pool situation.

Nice park with wonderful river for tubing and kayaking. We had a torrential down pour of 4" on Thursday when we arrived. River rose from 4.5 feet to almost 11' overnight, and speed went from 4800 CFM to almost 11000 CFM. River was closed to rentals for obvious reason, but I have my own kayak and went out with a friend. Still had a blast. Have been here before when water was at 3' and tubed and swam and had a lot of fun. Lots of hiking trails, but a little hilly for bikes unless you are in really great shape. Three ponds to fish in and trails for horses, too. Bathrooms were pretty clean, but showers had a little more debris than I like on the floor. Would not stop me from coming again, and we will. Love this park even though it is a 2+ hour drive for us.

This park was a great park with plenty of hiking/biking trails and nice canoeing. Staff was extremely friendly and our site was great. Plenty of stores within a few miles to get whatever you need. However a few problems bring down there score from what should easily be a 10. The bathrooms were usable, but not as clean as I am used to at other parks. Showers were same way. The biggest problem area is the pool. The design and layout are beautiful. One of the best and most fun pools you could ask for. It is actually 4 pools, each with its own attraction. The issue is the number of times any one of the pools was closed down to remove excrement or vomit from children. Pools are a big draw for local day care and I cannot believe swimming diapers are not required. Most pools I know of require them, but not Pokie. So what should have been a 10, is a 6 because of cleanliness problems that should be easily remedied. If you do not want a pool, then we can call it a 8 if perfect bathrooms are not required.

Very nice park. Really like the park even though no water or electricity. Though it was 99 degrees at bottom of Skyline Drive, campground was ony 81 degrees. Love the hiking, and saw plenty of wildlife (11 bears, 3 turkeys, 1 Peregrine Falcon, numerous Chipmunks, 1 Timber Rattlesnake, and 100's of deer). Showers were a little small and could have used a cleaning, but nothing too bad. Will gladly camp here again!

Nice shady Park (B loop) with plenty of hiking trails and roads to bike on. Appears to have nice pool, but it was not open due to time of year. Has public beach, though no swimming. Can rent pedal boats and canoes. Fishing is abundant on river. Enjoyed park overall, but bathrooms could have been a little cleaner. Will camp here again.

Great park. Beautiful lake with great swimming. Numerous Life Guards keep rules enforced. Rangers patrol the park regularly, and do a nightly walk around to ensure that quiet is maintained. Well off the beaten path, so bring what you need! Would have given it a 10 except for the condition of the bathrooms. They were not disgusting, and were not clean by any means. One toilet in mens' room was clogged. I also took off for the unlevel sites, though we were prepared with "Lynnx Levelers", and it took 6 on one side. We loved the park and will go back, just hope bathrooms are in better shape.

The good is, the campground is clean and relatively quiet. Restrooms and showers were clean. Staff friendly. We stayed on the water view, which are the only sites I would consider. The bad is, that the sites are tight. Took me 20 minutes to back in due to vehicles parked on road, tree on side of site, and small sites. They are back ins and are straight back, not angled. If the vehicles had not bee parked there it may not have been so bad, but it would have been tight just the same. There is a small pool on site that was very clean, but it is crowded on a hot day. May stay here again, but will explore other campgrounds in Gatlinburg, which is 10 minutes away.

Nice campground. Stayed here in 33' TT on site 168. No rain recently so a bit dusty, but not their fault. Bathrooms and showers were clean, staff was extra friendly. "Ranger" ride around and enforce rules regularly which is nice. Plenty of good tent camping sites as well. Little disappointed by the extra fees for the slide, golf, and paddle boats, however were told they are not affiliated with the campground. I guess they just feed off of it. We would return again, but pick our site a little differently. By the way, if they are calling for rain, do not get the sites in the bottom of hill!

Beautifully landscaped campground. Extremely friendly staff. Restrooms and showers were the cleanest we had ever seen. IT was so quiet here I was amazed. This campground is a superb base for seeing Asheville. There are no activities for kids, so keep that in mind if you have children. There is a blind curve as you enter campground, so be careful crossing over. The only reason I give it a 9 is for the lack of activities for kids, and the blind curve entering park. I would stay here again!

Beautiful park. We were in site 1573 in upper level. Steep hill but not insurmountable. Road into park is not a problem, as I passed a truck and fifth wheel on road into park so do not worry about that. We found staff busy, but very friendly. We were running late to check in due to nail in tire, and called the manager lady and she stayed past closing to check us in. Once in, we had issues with our hot water heater and she sent someone up to assist. Manager gentleman arrived and he was genuinely helpful and did not rush, despite the late hour. We would gladly stay here again.

We live only 20 minutes away and this park is a gem! Lovely park for big rigs in the B loop. as long as you just want quiet. If it is a lot of hustle and bustle you want, then this is not the place. Wonderful State Park with nice, though (hilly) walking/bike trails. Nice riverfront area to swim, but a slight walk or ride from CG. Cannot wait to go again.

Stayed here as a base for the Oyster Festival for the second year in a row. It is better this year as the sites have been paved and fire pits installed. Permanent sites still dominate and have all the water view and water front sites. Friendly and clean and new pool. Restrooms are not heated and with the temperature hovering in the 40's, it was not too pleasant. Still cannot complain. Have not been here in summer so cannot speak of summer activities.

All other reviews are right...a dump that should be avoided.
