Grand Country Lakeside RV Park , Afton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I don't usually sleep without ear plugs when we are camping. But, this campground is so quiet, ear plugs were not necessary! Slept the best I had in two weeks on the road. The owners, Erv and Kathy, are just the nicest people and are very helpful. Flowers and birds were abundant in the park. Full hookups meant we didn't need to use the campground showers (which could use updating). The view of Grand Lake is beautiful, plus Bernice State Park is right next to this campground. There is a paved path through the State Park, as well as a couple of bird watching blinds. We will definitely be back! We camped here in a travel trailer. Tips for other Campers:

If you have questions about the area, Irv and Kathy can help. Stop at the office so that the owners can help you select the best spot for your rig.
Be careful when leaving the campground - the stop sign at the highway intersection has faded and would be easy to miss.
Grove is only 15 miles away (approx.) and there are many restaurants, shops, flea markets, etc.
Make sure you walk through Bernice State Park - it's delightful!

Southside RV, Shamrock, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We overnighted here. It's basically a gravel parking lot with several permanent residents. It had water, electric and sewer and nothing else. It's on the south edge of Shamrock and is along a highway that carries lots of semi's. Very noisy. Used ear plugs in order to sleep. We camped at Southside RV in a Travel Trailer.

West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA, Gretna, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Smallest campsite we've ever had! Crammed us into campsite #48 and we couldn't open our awning because of a tree in the way. Too late by the time we discovered it, and too hot to move and set up again! Little to no grass in the small area; parking was horrid. On a positive note, showers were clean, playground was nice for the kids (although the zipline is a little rickety), nice swimming pool, and good weekend activities for kids. Sunday morning breakfast was not worth the price. Be aware that the entrance off Hwy. 6 is tricky due to high volume of traffic. Big rigs might have a little difficulty negotiating the turn in. We camped at West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Kenai Riverside Campground & RV Park, Cooper Landing, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Neglected; needs updating. Campsites are way too close together. No ambience of any kind. Charged for showers: the towels we were given had big holes and shredded edges. Did not feel the showers and restrooms were very clean. This would be my last choice if I ever visit this part of Alaska again. We camped at Kenai Riverside Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek RV Park, Seward, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Campground has potential, BUT weeds were growing under the picnic tables and all around. There were four washing machines. The three days we were here, two of the washers were out of order. Office staff was unfriendly and not helpful. The campsites were certainly not large, but adequate. Not one of my favorite campsites in Alaska. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.
