William Heise County Park, Julian, California

Date of Stay: June, 2006 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park in a lovely location. All their hookup sites are grouped around a paved ring, but there's open space around and between them. We were plagued with no-see-ums this trip, but not on other trips. No hummingbirds! Staff was a little less accommodating than at other San Diego County parks. Heise is very popular so make reservations, and make them early! We camped at William Heise County Park in a Truck Camper.

San Diego Metro KOA, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: May, 2006 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

They get marked down heavily on price! (Nearby San Diego County campgrounds are $15 or so per night.) Campground was lovely and quiet, despite nearby freeways. Lots of family fun and huge RVs. (Not quite what we, a couple of fogeys in a campervan, are looking for, but nice.) Hummingbird rating is excellent. We put up a feeder and had customers within an hour. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Truck Camper.

Agua Caliente County Park , Julian, California

Date of Stay: November, 2005 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Large park in a desert location (closed during summer months). Hot tubs available but often crowded. Nice hiking in nearby hills. Some 'private' spaces and lots of 'no privacy' spaces. We camped at Agua Caliente County Park in a Truck Camper.
