Artillery Ridge Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights. Site 45 has not quite long enough with toad hooked up. Sites in this section are not super-level but was able to level with jacks. Much of the park is in trees. This area is in the open and good if you have a satellite antenna. Staff inquired about that when I called, which I thought was great service. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is an excellent jumping off point for the Gettysburg Battlefield and the town. Can also arrange a horseback trip to the Battlefield. You will get free tickets to the Diarama which you MUST see before you tour the battlefield. Can also get an audio tour book which is very nice. A bit expensive but worth it if you are wanting to really understand the battle of Gettysburg, the turning point in the U.S. Civil War.

Wellington KOA, Wellington, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I'm going to rate it a 4 as we did not get a chance to fully explore. We arrived at dark and left early and were unable to take advantage of the aminities. However, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful; the grounds were very clean with a lot of landscaping and obvious care; the spot we had was just right; the AC power was clean and good voltage; water pressure was excellent. I would definitely stay there again. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Pineglen Motorcoach and RV Park, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

An outstanding park. The landscaping is beautiful and you wind thru tall pines and around a couple of small lakes as you pass by sites that include bushes and other plantings. This is not your usual "put all the boxes in a row" RV parks. Reserving was easy. Check-in was easy and the lady at the front was polite and helpful. Granted, I'm new at this but this is the best park by far, so far. Not cheap, but value is there. There is WiFi with a couple of access points -- decent, better than average. We camped at Pineglen Motorcoach and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Close to the beach. Go there. Ate at Sisters of the Sea last night and it was great.

Pavilion RV Park, West Monroe, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Good park for an overnight. Not a destination. Quite a few permanent residents. Entry ride is hard-pack gravel and quite smooth. Site was level. Good AC power. All the pull-thrus appear to be 75' in length. Lady on the phone was extremely courteous and helpful. I called at 5:30 100 miles away. Found my map and instructions easily. I would stay here again while traveling. We camped at Pavilion RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Across the road from a Pilot station that appears to be renovating all of its pumps. Call first if you are depending on fuel there.

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the lower section near the entrance, facing the runway. These sites are very long with water/sewer/electric nicely positioned. Good spacing between sites and there are picnic tables. The entrance road is wide and smooth pavement coming off of TX 16. The total park is awesome with swimming pool, ball fields, nature trails, creek and large pond area. The upper area has more trees but is more crowded with few pull-thru spots. Office staff is friendly and helpful. We will be back, and we only live 60 miles away in Marble Falls! We camped at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You will enjoy Fredricksburg. Don't miss the Admiral Chester Nimitz Museum of the Pacific War. It is touted as the best museum covering that part of WWII. It has both indoor and outdoor sections. Do a web search. Enjoy a Scotch Egg at The Brewery. The also have eight craft brews.

Saddleback Mountain RV Park, Balmorhea, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Good spot for an overnight. Park is gravel but smooth and level. Electrical power is good. Not fancy but more than adequate for a place to put your head down. I would stay here again. We camped at Saddleback Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Balmorhea is nearby. Very neat spring fed swimming hole. VERY cold!

Park is next to a Valero station and a pretty darn good cafe. I had a cheeseburger and onion rings. As good a burger as I've had for a while.
