The Buckhorne Country Store and Campground, Clifton Forge, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This really is just a small, basic campground with a country store as the office, but it met all of our needs, was clean, quiet and spacious. If truth be told, this is the kind of overnight stay that pleases us the most. It was $ reasonable with a level pull through site and plenty of room to walk the dogs. The full timers were friendly and quiet. Can't think of any negatives. Would definitely stay again. Not a destination campground, but great for a night or 2. We camped at The Buckhorne Country Store and Campground in a Motorhome.

Cape Ann Camp Site, Gloucester, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an interesting campground. If you have a 30 foot or longer vehicle you stop and call the office before going up a fairly big hill. There is a sign there telling you to. We ended up with a site near the sign, on the side of a hill. The sites are terraced, so it wasn't a problem, and it was actually very level. I walked up the hill to the office to pay (she would have come down in a golf cart). We looked out over the water and it was quite nice. Check-in was easy and very friendly. When I looked at the map of the place I couldn't believe how far back it went at the top of the hill. Since we didn't go that far I can't say what it was like. Easy enough to walk the dogs. Our site was so long you could have 2 extra large motorhomes on it. The hookups were at the back of the site (it was a back-in). I would recommend this campground, at least for the area we were in. We camped at Cape Ann Camp Site in a Motorhome.

North Beach Campground, Burlington, Vermont

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good campground for bicycling. There is a path that I think takes you into downtown Burlington which was used quite extensively. They zoom around so if you're walking you better watch out. Someone almost took my dogs out with their bike. However, that is not the campgrounds fault, it is the bikers themselves. The sites are pretty close together. Ours was a little cockeyed, but we managed. There is a beach within walking distance and looked really nice. We were just there for a night so $41 was a bit steep for w/e, but I think there are enough families and bikers out there that would like this campground more than us, so I can recommend it them without reservation. We camped at North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Inland Harbor RV Park, Darien, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access off I-95. Must come to gate and call office for gate to open. Sites were spacious enough and concrete. Ample areas to walk dogs. Cable is included and WiFi was good. All sites are pull thrus with full hookups. Our only complaint was that you couldn't put a patio mat down or have a portable dog pen set up. Since that is an integral part of our camping experience we wouldn't come back. However, it really isn't a bad park and I could recommend it to those who don't have an issue with that. Cash only. We camped at Inland Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Springs Campground, Hickory, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This campground isn't for the faint hearted. You follow a road downhill until you come to a gate. There you telephone the office. If there is no vacancy, you still have to enter to be able to turn around. The steep and gravely road is navigable, but might put many people off. That being said, this really is a wonderful campground. We parked in what was considered the overflow, so all I did was back my motorhome up about 30 feet and hook up. The owner was super friendly and the price was spot on (cash only). Plenty of space to walk the dogs. We were close to the office, so WiFi was good. Would return and would recommend to those unafraid of a rather dubious entrance. It's really worth it. We camped at Indian Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Shady Shores Campground, Fair Haven, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground on Lake Ontario. There are a lot of seasonal campers here, but that doesn't really detract from the park at all. We were offered a sight on the lake or a grass site. We took the grass site directly across from the lake access, so we still had a view of Lake Ontario. The beach is very rocky, but it's still nice to look out over any of the great lakes. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. They sell firewood by the armful, and when he saw me carrying mine back to our campsite he told me that it wasn't enough, that I should go back and get some more. They have a pump out service for gray and black water that I think is included in the rate if you are there long enough. Our site was flat and grassy. It was off season, so there were no others on either side of us. Overall I would recommend this campground to anyone from a tenter to a diesel pusher. We camped at Shady Shores Campground in a Motorhome.

Outdoor Adventure & Campground, Bethel, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 1 night here and had no complaints. There weren't many other campers there, so when we sat out at night around a campfire we didn't see anyone else. Very nice and relaxing. The pull thru sight was level and the hook-ups were fine. A little pricey I thought because the tax brought it up $3.75 to $38.75, but a nice campground that I could recommend without reservations. We camped at Outdoor Adventure & Campground in a Motorhome.

Big Pine Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

No reservation, but got a pretty good site at around 5pm. A dirt/gravel road winds through the hilly park to a dirt/gravel and mostly level site. Plenty of shade. We were near the back of the park, so there was plenty of room to walk the dog. Didn't use any facilities, and stayed 1 night. Very close to Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore. Overall a pretty clean and rustic campground. $35 is the max that I want to spend, which is what this was. $30 would have been fairer, but then who am I to say? Might stay here again because I know what I'm getting, but would check reviews of other campgrounds to see if there is a better value. We camped at Big Pine Campground in a Motorhome.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

A long gravel road leads up to the 7th Ranch RV park, and if you're passed by a pick-up truck going fast the other way like we were, it gets you off to a bad start. $37 a night is too high for this place, though overall it is not a bad park. We were given 2 free ice cream bars at registration, so that was an instant hit. The gravel road continues to your site, which is also gravel, but level. We had a tree partially blocking out the sunset, which was a good thing because it was so hot. We didn't use any facilities, but the park was clean and well kept. Walking a dog there is a challenge - lots of gravel and very little grass to take care of business. We stayed one night. The Battle of Little Bighorn Nat'l Park is about 8 minutes away. Staff is very friendly. The price and lack of dog walking area would have us look for another place next time, but this isn't a dumpy place at all. We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Wheeler's Campground, Baraboo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

No reservation, but was given a very lovely shaded site (back in). Staff was ultra friendly and accommodating. Didn't use any facilities. Plenty of room to walk the dog. Overall very well kept. Used just for an overnighter. Has a fishing pond that was actually being used by some guests, and a game room and a nice camp store. About 30 minutes from House on the Rock, and Taliesin. Would stay here again. We camped at Wheeler's Campground in a Motorhome.

Graceland RV Park & Campground, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park was a nice surprise for me. We stayed 2 nights, and for $61.50 total I felt it was a very good value. We had an end unit so I could give our dog a little more leeway on his rope. It also had a very large shaded pet area that was clean. We didn't use any facilities, but the pool was well used and clean looking. With the shuttle to Graceland a short walk away, it was very convenient. A local restaurant offered a free pink limousine ride to their eatery, and a lot of people used that. Shuttle buses to downtown Memphis are also available. Overall a great little park for either overnighting or weekly stays. We camped at Graceland RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Cottonwood Campground (NPS Campground), Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

This is just a great Nat'l Park. $10 to enter park and $5 a night (senior) lifts my heart. We had a 30' motorhome and had no problem finding a nice pull through site that was plenty spacious, private, and with a spectacular view. Walking the dog was an absolute pleasure. No water, electric or sewer, but the whole ambiance of the park more than makes up for it. Besides, that's the way Theodore Roosevelt saw it. It was so great to get away from the typical RV parks and really enjoy the outdoors and natural splendor of North Dakota. Can't wait to go back. We camped at Cottonwood Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Lazy L RV Park, Sherman, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The intense heat may be one reason I gave this park a 7 out of 10 rating. For $28.50 a night I thought the price was fair. Sites were adequate, but there were many long term campers here, giving it more a feel of a trailer park. Not a lot of room to walk a dog. Did not use the facilities, but the pool appeared clean. Stayed just 1 night. Took about 45 minutes to get to South Fork Ranch in Parker, Tx. Probably would not stay again, but it wasn't the worst of our travels. We camped at Lazy L RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Pleasantly surprised by this park. At $22.50 a night it was the best value outside of some Nat'l and State Parks. Site was roomy, level and clean. Plenty of room to walk the dog. Didn't use any facilities, but did take the free shuttle to the Ameristar casino across the street and ate dinner and gambled a little. Shuttle is available 24/7. Next time will check out the history in Vicksburg. This campground is a keeper. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

D & W Lake Camping and RV Park, Champaign, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We had no reservation, but arrived about 5 pm and were warmly greeted and given a very nice level, pull through site. Campground was clean and had lots of room to walk the dog. Didn't use the facilities. Perfect for an overnight stay, and at $25 it was one of the best values we encountered on our month long vacation. Highly recommend. We camped at D & W Lake Camping and RV Park in a Motorhome.
