Springfield / Route 66 KOA, Springfield, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Close to I-44 but trees block the noise. However the nearby railroad is very active in daytime. Access to the pool is gained by tall people who can reach the top of the gate, keeping children from sneaking in. It was fairly easy to navigate Springfield for any of our needs.I would use this park again. We camped at Springfield / Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Wilson's Creek Battlefield: great Civil War history lesson. Check out BYOPizza on Jefferson near Missouri State. Excellent! They use the Subway model of making pizza your way for one price. And it is baked in 90 seconds.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This place has a family pool and an adults-only pool. Very cool! If you don't want to listen to kids (or parents yelling at kids), you have a choice. Short trip to Garden of the Gods park. We found the staff very cheerful and helpful. A little tricky pulling out onto the roadway, but we'd stay here again. Lots of shade, though it is never that hot in Colorado Springs. Untouched by the recent fires. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

AB Camping & RV Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Great to have someone help you park, even at a pull-through. Another park with a great and inexpensive barbeque. Family run, even the middle-schooler helps out. We were only there for an overnight. Hope to return for a good look around. Lots of history in Cheyenne. We camped at AB Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Salt Lake City KOA, Salt Lake City, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

My only issue here was a bright light coming through the bedroom shades. So I draped a towel over the window to block it, no problem. Relatively easy to return to I-80. A train could be heard in the distance if you were outside. But we never heard it inside. I've been surprised at the number of full-timers permanently set-up at some parks. This place was well-maintained, very pleasant place for a few days touring. Don't miss the copper mine. Pretty amazing. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Sierra Resort RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty bare camping on a parking lot, but the Truckee River flows right behind the lot. The staff never failed to be professional and cheerful. Some kids next to us didn't observe the 10pm quiet time. They were in/out/in/out slamming doors until 11:30pm. They were otherwise polite, however. We were at the casino for an event and chose this park for convenience only. Would not stay again, need some green around me. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Coachland RV Park, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Another Good Sam discount. Access off I-80 via a roundabout was so easy. Helpful, friendly staff. Great base to explore Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. When we needed to extend our leave time a couple hours to accommodate the check-in time at our next stop, there was no problem, especially since no one was coming in right behind us. We'd easily go again. We camped at Coachland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

RiverPoint Landing Marina Resort, Stockton, California

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty tight quarters but such a lovely spot right on the river. Landscaping top notch. Drive to the park/marina is through such a nice neighborhood. In town to visit friends so we didn't spend much time at the park. But we'd use it again. We camped at RiverPoint Landing Marina Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Calico Ghost Town & Campground, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Well, it is in the Mojave desert. So we should expect hot and dry. No phone service inside the park but go on a hill and you might get a signal. The water gave us a problem, to say it politely. Very salty. Glad we had fresh water from New Mexico on board. Just walk up the hill to the Ghost Town and spend the day, included in camping fee. Very interesting place. Pretty birds, chukkars, abound. And kangaroo rats (but they look like chipmunks). And bats at sunset. Didn't hate it, but we were glad to leave after 3 nights. We camped at Calico Ghost Town & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

J & H RV Park (55 + Park), Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice place. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Neighbors were especially friendly, too. Every Sunday there is a Pot Luck, with owners providing the meat. They were celebrating 30 years in business, so we were treated to special entertainment. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful experience. Short enough drive to Grand Canyon, we could stay all day. We'd use it again. We camped at J & H RV Park (55 + Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Really liked it here. Friendly, helpful staff. Good Sam discount took 10% off. Had a bad u-joint, they sent us to Bozo's, the best there is in our estimation. In 1 1/2 hour, we were back on the road and didn't feel like we'd been gouged. On-site BBQ made arrival day dinner easy. Lots of interesting things to see around Santa Rosa. We camped at Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty tight turns, spaces not all that level. But clean, quiet. Over-nighted to visit friends. We camped at Central State Park at Lake Arcadia in a Fifth Wheel.
