We have been camping at Pirateland Family Campground for 7 years. Last year the people on the beach shooting off fireworks until well after midnight were bothersome but not intolerable. This year it went on until 3:00 am and after some nights. The signs are clearly posted at all beach access points that fireworks are illegal, but that doesn't seem to bother these people at all. Don't bother calling the Horry County Police Department about the problem. They just ride up the beach and keep right on going. We love the campground and all of its amenities, but since it is no longer possible to get a good nights sleep while camping here we will be camping elsewhere in the future.

This campground it now operated as a Yogi Bears Jellystone Resort. They have made many upgrades to the park since last year. They have added a jumping pillow for the kids and a larger playground area. They have a really nice fishing and crabbing pier that all registered campers can use without buying a license. A number of trees have been removed which makes maneuvering and parking much easier. The campground is very quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful. We already have reservations made here for another weekend later this year. In periods of heavy rain the low end of the campground near the river is prone to flooding. Be aware of this when making your reservations.
