Grant Lake Marina Campground, June Lake, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Not well known. No internet, no phone, no electricity (they are off grid) BUT there is water a sewer at each site. Lots of trees for shade. Mostly all level gravel spots. Short walk to the lake shore where you can actually catch fish. Gens can run till 10 PM. Most don't. Monthlies available. Very short open season due to road closures in the winter. Closes 1st week in Oct. due to temperatures freezing water system ( on a spring). Opens in spring after the snow melts. Really a nice place with helpful folks. Office not occupied all day long. Very laid back here. We camped at Grant Lake Marina Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing is the big item here. Grant Lake is noted for big brown trout. Boat rental and fishing equipment available right at the marina. Boats not needed to catch fish however. Shore fishing works here.

CasaBlanca Resort-Casino, Mesquite, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Good stop for the night or longer if you gamble. Right behind the casino, short walk away(BUT many steps on stairs to get up in the casino). Mostly backins but a few 39 ft pull throughs. Clean level gravel parking. Well lite at night so some may need to pull drapes to darken vehicle for sleep. Easy on and off the interstate. Food good in the casino. MUST check in at the hotel/casino desk first before going to the park in back. We camped at CasaBlanca Resort-Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds), Bishop, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were sure expecting better when we stopped here by the above reviews BUT while the parking area was mostly level and easy to back in (all back ins here), the big downer was the condition of the shower/toilet rooms. Totally filthy! We were 2 days away from the Labor Day events and the rooms were still bad, bad, bad. The floors and walls needed a good scrubbing and not just a damp mop, there were dead bugs and other "dark" materials on the floors. The shower curtains have mold and rust 3/4 of the way up the curtains. The toilets hadn't been cleaned out in a while. The excuse we got was that the holiday crowd had dirtied them up. Was there no servicing during the entire holiday?

This is a quasi governmental entity that runs this place and it seems that it is run as many city run operations elsewhere: "We'll get to it when we can." They don't have "customers" (us), they just have jobs. Sorry to say but I wish it had been better.

Won't be back. Not worth it for the price. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Travel Trailer.

Airstream Factory Terraport, Jackson Center, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Clean very level back in sites set up for trailers and not MHs. May have to disconnect if over 22 ft. plus truck No amenities but a good basic stop over with H2O, elect, and sewer. Anyone can stop for a nite for the tour. NO LONG TERM PARKING. Now the big problem! THERE IS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE HERE! Period! No cell phone company works. Airstream does have an internet that they will give you the passwords. We payed the $10 as we just wanted to see the tour and stay the night but when we found out the phone problem we had to leave ( I had a late night phone conference that night) The tour is very interesting and maybe a must see if you are anyway interested in Airstreams. We camped at Airstream Factory Terraport in a Travel Trailer.

Hickory Hollow Campground, Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

One night stop turns out to be a good pick. Clean grounds, even got a full length concrete (back in) pad to park. Good power and water. Some long term rentals but all very neat and clean. A couple of small cabins are also available. If you're going on 39 and need to stop this place will be fine. Nice folks at the desk also. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hav A Rest, Redfield, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Redfield City Camping Small (20 spaces) right on lake shore just before you enter town from the west on 212. All sites have elec, cheap at $15/night for 30 amp. Pay by check at post at entrance. No potable water in campground! Be sure to have some onboard. Dump station available. Quiet, even though next to hiway. Paved pads and road with grass all around.

Multi-night stay needs call to city for availability. (20 day max On line reservation City of Redfield website.) First come, first served. Look for orange tag on power post if site is reserved by date. Sharp turn in for most sites. ALL BACK IN. NOT FOR LONG RIGS!

Nice play ground for kids. Bath facilities are pretty clean but a little worn. Showers (1 each, free) actually work and are HOT. Bring shower shoes just in case. Camp Host might not be around but is in spot #1.

Be sure to check ALL registration posts in campground to find window sticker after paying to avoid early morning knock on door. We camped at Hav A Rest in a Travel Trailer.

Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park), Eloy, Arizona

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a quick place to get out of bad weather and we were half way between Phoenix and Tucson late (7PM) on a Sunday night. Went to gate and pushed call button (sign said they would answer till 8PM). A very nice older gentleman came up, opened the gate and checked us in for the night. We did a "follow me" on him right into the site. Site was small very clean gravel and perfectly groomed along with perfectly level. The entire park is the cleanest we have ever seen. Mostly long term but they have a few (8?) overnight pull throughs. Totally gate guarded at night for security. Quiet, very little noise from hiway. The only issue was no cable TV but they get all the Phoenix HD OTA stations (they have cable run to each site but the cable company hasn't run the branch line down the street outside). This really is a great stop and they fill up with snowbirds and we can see why.

For overnighters "cash or check only, no CCs) We camped at Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

De Leon Community EV Park, De Leon, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very hard to find. East side of town North of road back off road 2 blocks through heavy trees and narrow dirt road. Not visible from road. Small ground level sign on opposite side of road to turn direction only visible when going east bound. Level gravel site pull through. Ratty looking full timer rigs present (crashed car, one 6th falling apart, etc. Have to pay at City Hall then go to park. Don't confuse this with 7 miles south of town. City park NOT on GPS. We camped at De Leon Community EV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Casey's Socorro RV Park, Socorro, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Not much but a quick stop for the night. No WiFi, no cable, no dump on parking site but a dump is available near entrance. OK for a quick stop. Not much around walking distance. Stop for dinner before if you don't want to unhook. Call ahead for off ramp as highway being repaired and nearby off ramp closed. No WiFi or cable. Nice lady runs it. Easy in and out. Best WIFI we have ever found! Will definately stay again if in the area. After a heavy rain some mud in the grass areas but not objectionable. Not much shade. The main office/club house was large and clean. We camped at Zia RVillas in a Travel Trailer.

Serendipity Bay Resort RV Park & Marina, Palacios, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Kind of tight but not bad. Clean and neat overall. The overnight sites seem easier to navigate to than the full or long term ones. Lawns and buildings neat and clean. Manager seemed to care about how things were kept around the park. Lots of fishing in the area and at the back of the RV park right on the water. Would use it again. We camped at Serendipity Bay Resort RV Park & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Holiday Trav-L-Park, Del Rio, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

OK place to stop overnight or for a fishing trip to the lake. Nothing special but I'd stay there again if overnight in the area. Everything worked at the site. Site was level, no blocking needed. As stated, nothing super special, just that it's an OK stop for fishing or an overnight. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Travel Trailer.

Seven Winds RV Park, Liberal, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

The previous post was right on in describing this park. We left but did get a refund. Walmart is better. The place is filthy both outside and in the laundry room. Didn't even check out the bath room facilities as we left so quick. Mostly permanent customers. Ants and chiggers all around. It has not been cleaned up in a long time. The office looks like a tornado went through it. The trains are constant and 100 yards away. If you like trains, Great! Not us. The lady in charge was nice, but the facilities were the worst we've seen. If I still had young kids they wouldn't play outside the RV here. We camped at Seven Winds RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oh Ridge Campground, Inyo NF, June Lake, California

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Great place for boondocking. Pick your site on Google Earth so you know it's level and long enough. Some lake views. Most are shorter sites. Water in every "loop". Dump station at entrance $7. Cheap if you are "older" with pass. Back side away from lake is usually open and very few use it so if you want to be away from them all go here. Still has good mountain views. We camped at Oh Ridge Campground, Inyo NF in a Travel Trailer.
