MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park, Alpine, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This could be a great RV park, but the way it is run and set up now leaves a LOT to be desired! We drive a 45' motorhome and the East Meadow should be able to accommodate us, but getting into this place is almost impossible. Why would you put in a narrow gate and a sharp right turn to get into an RV park? Makes no sense! Also, they need to trim their trees to accommodate tall RV's. We stayed here several days and one morning we woke up to no electricity. We went up to the office and they said "oh yes, it will be out all day...didn't they tell you when you checked in?" uhhhh....no! (and it was almost 90 degrees that day!) fortunately we have a generator, but those who didn't were in for one hot day! Maintenance is at a ZERO. Huge gullies were everywhere on the dirt roads (from not-so-recent rains). It is obvious that they have not done any road maintenance in years! We will NOT be staying here again.

If you have a small trailer or RV and just need a bare bones place to stay for the night, then this place would be OK, as the price is OK, but any rig over 36' should look elsewhere! We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

Island Resort Casino RV Park, Harris, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

"Resort" is not a word I would use. I gave it a 7 because of the paved roads, but this place is EXREMELY tight to maneuver. If you have anything longer than a 40' motorhome, I would re-think this place. The price is right, but the curved, sloped pads with trees on either side make for a tight squeeze. We scratched the sides of our RV trying to get out of one of the spots. Oh yes, the casino is pretty "tight" too. LOL. We camped at Island Resort Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Try the Swedish Bakery in Escanaba! Their cinnamon rolls are awesome!! Also the Cheddar Jack Cheese soup at Ludington Grill is amazing! (Both of these are in downtown Escanaba...on Ludington, I think.

Campers Cove RV Park & Canoe Livery, Alpena, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park. It's crowded with kids and swimmers walking to the lake that surrounds the park, but hey...this is camping! We had a nice, level, back-in spot. It fit our 40' rig quite easily, however we did not have sewer at our site (which is why I only gave it a 9). If the wifi worked better and we had had sewer I would give it a 10. We would stay here again. We camped at Campers Cove RV Park & Canoe Livery in a Motorhome.

Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park, Mt Pleasant, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This was a beautiful park. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating was because it was expensive, especially considering there was no wifi and no cable. I did appreciate the width between sites. We camped at Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park in a Motorhome.

St Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA, St Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First of all, the staff was amazing! Very accommodating! The sites were level and a few were wide enough to accommodate the slides on our large rig, but unfortunately the good stops there. It was raining and the roads were slushy. The area near the dumpster was like a swamp! The electrical hookups were very OLD and we had to switch them off and on several times before they would work. And Wi-Fi!? They may SAY they have it, but I was never able to get it to work. Additionally, the dumpsters were so full you couldn't fit your trash in them for 2-3 days! We camped at St Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Louisville North Campground (formerly Louisville Metro KOA), Clarksville, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

There are 2 addresses for this park in Woodall's. If you use the 900 address you will be led down a road with only a 10' clearance!! DON'T use this address! I was NOT impressed with this park. The staff was friendly, but that was the only plus. The sites were tight and all gravel. The train tracks were about 20' from the RV's and ran all night. I have stayed in worse RV parks...but NOT one that charged me $46.00! I won't be back. We camped at Louisville North Campground (formerly Louisville Metro KOA) in a Motorhome.

Valley View RV Park, Island Park, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

If you just like a level site with plenty of room for your big rig and 50 amp, then this is a great RV Park. The office is inside a big laundromat, so this is an excellent place to do your laundry. They charge you an extra $1 for WiFi, but I had a pretty good Verizon signal, so chose to use my own Mi-Fi. I liked the fact that it was easy to find. It is just 1/4 mile South of the 87/20 Junction right on the I-20. Our spot was right on the road, but we ran our fan so we couldn't hear the road noise. We drove around to view other RV parks in the area, and this one fit our needs the best. We would stay here again. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wind River RV Park, Riverton, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

If you need a site for the night with 50 amp and don't care about amenities, then this would probably work. The older gentleman in the office was friendly, but the park was gravel and weeds and our motorhome faced a wall of storage containers. Oh yes, the WiFi didn't work either. Our 40' RV fit into the pull through, and it was easy to maneuver our way out of the park in the morning. Not the greatest place, but at least the 50 amp was nice, since it was hot. We camped at Wind River RV Park in a Motorhome.

On-Ur-Wa RV Park, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

What a great spot! The new owners were awesome, and the park was pristine! What I appreciated the most was the Wi-Fi! It was fast and easy to hook in to. We were in a 40' motorhome, pulling a toad and had a 100' pull through with easy in and out. We will certainly come back here again! We camped at On-Ur-Wa RV Park in a Motorhome.

WinStar RV Park, Thackerville, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Outstanding park. Facilities are beautiful; staff is friendly! Very well organized. Large sites. We travel 6 months a year, and this is one of the best parks we have stayed in, especially for $20.00 per night! (monthly rates are $400.00). Even if you don't gamble, this is a great RV park! The wi-fi is great, too! First night was even free! We camped at WinStar RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cedar Crest RV park, Stillwater, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty basic campground, but we did get a level pull-through. The sites are gravel and there is a laundry room. There is free WiFi, but it's pretty slow. If you just need a place to stay at night, this would be fine. We camped at Cedar Crest RV park in a Motorhome.

Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area, Fremont, Nebraska

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 4 nights. We looked on-line and found a 50 amp site that would accommodate our rig. We stayed there Wednesday through Saturday, and since we are self-contained, we didn't use the showers. Although I looked at them. They were clean and spacious, but very dark and you had to pay for the showers. I loved the quiet atmosphere during the week. The trains were close, but we sleep with a fan, so the noise was not a problem. For the price, I thought this was an excellent park and would stay there again. The lakes were small, but beautiful. We had a family reunion there and were able to rent their new Rec Room. The ranger was very accommodating. We camped at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Shipshewana Campground North Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is small and pretty. The staff were extremely nice. However, we got major scratches on our motor home when we drove out! The Blue Spruce trees were huge, and the road was not wide enough to make a proper turn to avoid the branches (for our 40' rig). If you have a large motorhome, I would avoid this park. We camped at Shipshewana Campground North Park in a Motorhome.

Patoka Lake State Park, Birdseye, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The park was hard to find and the campsite was also hard to find. We were there in a 40' RV and most of the sites were small and back-in. For the price, I have stayed at better State Parks. The Beach area was closed because the water level was so low. There were very few campers there. We camped at Patoka Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
