Staysail RV Park, Oak Harbor, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here in the past before construction which cut the park in half. It is a good city park, well placed, pleasant except for homeless people and kids sometimes act out. This location, Windjammer park is where lots of activities by the city occur. You can get car shows, Thursday evening concerts by the town band playing big band favorites. Location is great, there is local bus service except on Sunday, that is free and you can go all over the island if you are patient and don't mind the bus. Good restaurants, grocery stores, ect. Nice small town. For us it is really not a camping experience, but a nice place to set up and enjoy all the hookups and civilization after weeks on the road boon-docking on the road up and back from Alaska. We camped at Staysail RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Downtown RV Park, Watson Lake, Yukon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Parking lot, close together, no problem with TC Good thing about this park is it has full hookups and near signpost forest and grocery store. Bad thing is that it is just a dusty gravel parking lot. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Tetsa River Lodge (formerly Tetsa River Services), Fort Nelson, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Good spot for an overnight stay, right off of the road, we were going to stay at provincial park near there but saw so many bears near there we thought we would stay in a populated park. People friendly, except on wifi which was limited. I got an unexpected phone call over wifi in their presence and was asked to not talk over IP. Ok, thats fine didn't know how limited it was really was. Generator runs for electricity, they put is in the back away from it which was nice. Overall a good spot to stop. On way back stayed at Muncho Lake which was spectacular. We camped at Tetsa River Lodge (formerly Tetsa River Services) in a Truck Camper.

Muncho Lake Provincial Park - Strawberry Flats Campground, Muncho Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Real nice park, maybe the best we stayed in. Had a beautiful day and a site right on the lake. You can go down to the lake right from your campsite. Some people on sites by the lake, could put their small boats in right from their campsite. Vault toilets, ranger came by in evening to collect 20 bucks canadian which is more like 15 or 16 US. Big sites, private. We camped at Muncho Lake Provincial Park - Strawberry Flats Campground in a Truck Camper.

Golden Nugget RV Park, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We came in late around 11 and paid the 40 dollars for a very small slot with only electric. Very expensive for that. Next day asked to dump shower water and pick up some fresh water in the truck camper and was told this was another 5 dollars. Never have I had to pay extra for dump and water at a commercial site. That is the main reason for bad rating. Otherwise a plain, very average RV park. We camped at Golden Nugget RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Grant County Fairgrounds RV Park, John Day, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Good campsites, cheap price, shady, good place for stop over when traveling through Oregon, it was nice to find this available. Self register, half full when we came through. Lots of places to walk the dog, not much to do around there. Only internet I found was at the local McDonald's. No T-Mobile data service. Very clean bathroom and shower. We camped at Grant County Fairgrounds RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Heyburn Riverside RV Park, Heyburn, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park overall. Price reflected Good Sam's discount. This is a public funded park. It is new and near the Snake river. The sites landscaping caused problems with slides, kind of weird that the new park would put plants right next to the where you pull through. That is the reason I downgraded it more than normal along with a strong sewer smell that seemed to be in just one or two campsites. I would stay again but just check the smell before setting up. We camped at Heyburn Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground), Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Good for one night stop over, due to the traffic noise. Very friendly hosts who helped us find the site in the dark, which was necessary since not much light around the park. Internet was good, just a little hard to access because you have to sign in and setup password etc. We got in late, skipped the cable option, and went to sleep. Pretty close to I-80, so traffic noise was noticeable. I would stay again because the staff was great. We camped at Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Boyd Lake State Park, Loveland, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, but real dry this year, as the lake is down a lot. We camped here in September and the campground was close to full. You do not need a reservation but having one will get you a better site, since they now assign you one which may or may not be great. I got assigned one with bees in it, so walked around and found another that was unoccupied and was allowed to switch. We used to be able to just go in and pick a site that was unused and then go and register, which I prefer since there are several sites that do not have shade. I think it is the best place in the area to camp, if you do not mind not having water and sewer hooked up. Bathroom and showers are real nice and clean, but have to pay 75 cents for the shower. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
