Big River Resort (formerly Wabasha Motel and RV Park), Wabasha, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of those RV parks that use the word "resort" loosely. We had a very long and wide, full hookup site; grass was between the sites, with a concrete patio, but dirt and gravel surface pull through. Also had a good picnic table and fire ring. But that was it. Resorts, in my mind, should have a pool, playground for children, a small store maybe, a restaurant, rooms for meetings, scheduled activities, and concrete pads. This campground had none of these. The park was very overpriced for just a regular RV site. Also, this park is not alongside the Mississippi River, but if you look at their advertisements, it gives you the image that it is. It is quiet and satellite friendly. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed here for a week in a 39 foot 5th wheel. We would stay here again if in the area. It is a good place for a base to explore along the Mississippi River. We camped at Big River Resort (formerly Wabasha Motel and RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Chris' Camp, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park has everything an RV'er would want and all the amenities. The couple who own the campground are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It is easy off and on the interstate, and easy entrance and exit the park. We got there when a car show was going on in Deadwood, and the place was packed. Being this crowded, it was very tight; our slide out was within a foot of our neighbors; also once you got into your site, you had a difficult time getting out. Ask about satellite; some sites are shaded. We would stay here again if in the area but not during an event; we stayed here a week in a 39 foot fifth wheel. We camped at Chris' Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Yakima River RV Park, Ellensburg, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older RV park divided into new and older areas. The older area is head to head hookups, extremely close where slides almost touch each other with full hookups. Most of these are permanent residences which look like a neglected trailer park. The old adage, the longer you stay the trashier they look with items hanging on the outside, under, on top, and all around the RV. The newer area is great. The sites are very long, wide, level, and comprised of dirt and gravel. Between the sites are grass medians with fences. The newer section appears to be recently opened. These newer sites have NO SEWER. These sites have a great view of the surrounding countryside, quiet, clean, and satellite friendly. You will occasionally hear a train, but it is of no consequence. You are close to the Yakima River. The park has no amenities: no showers, no laundry, no toilets, no dump station, and no campground office. The campground hosts meet you at the entrance to the park and escort you to your site. The hosts we met were very friendly and helpful and, for a change from other parks, enforce the written rules. We stayed here in a large fifth-wheel for a few days, and probably would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort, Reedsport, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is the first time that RVPR has let us down with their rating. My standards must be much higher than most other reviewers. This park is a mess. Reaching the park from Oregon 38 is a 9 mile good asphalt road, hilly, narrow, and curvy, but a good road. A "resort" is a play on words. The lodge is no more than a strip motel; the check-in was horrendous. I had to verify my reservation with my confirmation from my computer. He was also very rude. Once you step outside, you will never see another staff member from the lodge or RV park. It had been raining for a few days, the park roads were dirt, muddy, with very, very deep potholes. Dogs were running loose all over. We stayed in the upper campground and the site was long and level and dirt. It was also covered with high grass and covered in tall weeds. All facilities worked well. There are no written rules for the park. The swimming area next to the dock and dock area have a light sheen of oil on the water. There is park WiFi but no cell service. Most of the sites had one RV on them, with multiple tents surrounding the RV, and multiple vehicles surrounding that. Every open spot had a vehicle parked in it, with boat trailer sometimes. There is no security, park law enforcement staff, or sheriff patrols. Because of encroachment of people and vehicles on other sites, there were two large fights while we were there. Some sites had a dozen people staying on them, especially on weekends. There is absolutely no maintenance; no mowers, weed whackers, or tractors in the park. All grass is high, weeds are higher than the bottom of your RV. We are full-timers in a 39 foot RV, stayed here a week but left early, and will not be back again. We camped at Loon Lake Lodge and RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Gulf Coast RV Resort, Beaumont, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This park is no longer affiliated with Passport America. The sites are all narrow concrete pads with a concrete patio and very long. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cable was not working at our site and there were deep holes next to the pad where a motorhome missed the pad. It made for a touchy walking situation and should be fixed. We reported both to the office. The campground has very easy access off and on I-10 and is satellite friendly. They also have a free breakfast every morning; not to write home about, but still filling. The campground has many permanent residents, with a few sites for travelers. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Top of the Hill RV Resort, Boerne, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is no longer a Passport America nor a Good Sam Park. The best sites are actually on "top of the hill". If you do not get one of these sites, I would not stay, because the "second tier" sites are among the long term residents below the top. The campground is near the interstate, so there is considerable road noise. The roads and sites are gravel and mostly level. I had no trouble leveling my rig. The staff were quite friendly and will escort you to your site. This is an older park and needs some tender loving care; some of the resident sites need to be cleaned of litter. We stayed here in a 39 foot fifth wheel and probably would stay here again, but only overnight. We camped at Top of the Hill RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Needles Marina Park, Needles, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is right along side of the Colorado River. The staff is excellent and the sites are wide and level. They have a nice store and a contract propane company that visits once a week. This is a 55+ park also. They have all the amenities of a large resort: pool, hot tub, laundry, showers, boat ramp and slips, and they keep the park very clean. Also, there is Needles golf course across the street within walking distance. We stayed here in a 39-foot fifth wheel and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Needles Marina Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain Road RV Park, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is easy on and off of I-40. The sites are very unlevel and gravel. Also we had to move to another site because our surge protector would not allow us to hook up to the pedestal; low voltage. The staff is friendly. It is an older park and sites are not long and are tight. We couldn't park the truck in front or back. We would not stay here again. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is near I-40, but you don't hear much traffic noise. The staff is very friendly and helpful when checking in. The sites are arranged unconventionally. When we pulled into ours, another rig pulled in front of us and on each side. For a couple days, we were trapped and couldn't get out. Luckily we didn't have to. The sites were level and gravel. Every morning they had free donuts and coffee for the guests. We would stay there again if in the area. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice and spacious campground. The staff upon check-in was very helpful and courteous. The spaces were level and made of gravel. Also big enough where some of the motorhomes didn't have to disconnect. The WiFi and Verizon worked well; satellite was good, as well as, many over the air channels available. They also had a well stocked RV store. Access to park from the interstate was easy; also the campground was next to a Camping World. We will stay here again if in the area. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the area. The park is easy to find from I-40 and is mostly quiet. When checking in, the staff was very friendly. The sites are level, but close together, and just long enough for our 39-foot fifth wheel. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park with a group. It has long, level sites with full hook-ups and plenty of room between sites. The staff is very friendly and escorts you to your site. Black Bart's RV Park, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights with a group. The sites are very unlevel and patios small and cracked. The restaurant at the campground is excellent, both the food and entertainment. The campground is just off of I-40, but getting into and out of the campground can be treacherous because of the high speed traffic and a curve where you cannot see anyone coming. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It is a good campground to stay for a brief stay to relax, but not much more. Most sites are permanent residents. For overnight, we would stay here again. We camped at Black Bart's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kingman KOA, Kingman, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We were here with a group that stayed two nights. It is a typical KOA with all the services. The site we were in was very narrow and almost too short for our 39-foot RV. The laundry was clean and in good shape with all the washers/dryers working. The campground sits among the residential area, so it is quiet, and easy to get to. The staff was friendly and escorts you to your site. If we are in the area, we would stay here again. We camped at Kingman KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large RV resort in Oklahoma City. It has all the facilities that any RV'er would want. The staff was very helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The satellite reception was good, the campground WiFi was better than most other parks, and Verizon worked well. Also antenna reception was excellent. The site was on a concrete pad with lots of room between rigs. Although expensive, we would definitely stay here again if in the area. We stayed here in a 39 foot fifth wheel.
