Denver East / Strasburg KOA, Strasburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The typical snowy cable reception and our site didn't have sewer. The park's location is between Interstate 70 and train tracks, a good location for the owner to sell some day to Walmart, but not so good for campers. We camped at Denver East / Strasburg KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Triple J RV Park, Russell, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

There was no one there to check us in so we found our own site, but it was almost level and had all the hookup so we were happy campers. We camped at Triple J RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA, Oak Grove, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Wifi is a little slow during peak hours of usage, but cable TV picture is snowy. We had just purchased a new cable so we knew it wasn't our problem. Other than that, this is a nice shady park near KC and has many amenities like a pool, badminton, etc. for guests. We camped at Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Shelby Country Inn & RV Park, Shelby, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We should have visited RV Park Reviews website before stopping at this particular RV park in Shelby, IA. We were charged a top of the range rate for a site in a muddy open field. No cable, no Wi-Fi, no sewer, amenities one would expect for this price in a small town in Iowa. We camped at Shelby Country Inn & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground, Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are rustic, and although they advertise cable, they give you a little box that takes some technical skill to connect and some of the channels on the list they gave me were not accessible. We camped at Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

You can't beat the ambiance of being right next to one of the most unique destinations in America, the Kentucky Horse Park. Like many state owned RV parks, this park had no sewer and that only became an issue when it was very crowded on the weekend. Everyone uses the public bathroom and you have to take a ticket to use a stall. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Zion Canyon Campground & RV Park, Springdale, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

It's the closest RV park to the entrance to Zion National Park, so its best amenity is its location. We didn't want to unhook, so that was important to us, so I rated the value as satisfactory. The view from all sites was spectacular, but my site was the shortest pull-through I've ever parked in. The shower required a token which only allowed you six minutes. I understand water's a premium here, but then, to be consistent, they should have repaired the dripping faucets I reported. Monitoring of sites seems to be lacking. Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was gravel and featured a picnic table. We camped at Zion Canyon Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town (formerly Sam's Town Casino & RV Park) , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is next to a casino and is really nothing more than a converted parking lot for patrons. Like the inexpensive motel rooms in Vegas, everything is designed to motivate you to get out and gamble. The back-in sites were so short, the car had to be unhooked, presumably to encourage you to get in the car and head for the casinos. TV was minimal, internet was non-existent so you had nothing else to do but go out and gamble. You didn't even have a picnic table so you were encouraged to go out and eat. Where else? The casino of course. So, if you want a place to park while you gamble, this park is ideal. We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town (formerly Sam's Town Casino & RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

San Diego Metro KOA, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Pricey, corporate owned, very large campground, but it served our purpose. It had that corporate feel to it, but there's also an advantage in that: amenities abound. They include a nice playground, sandbox, bikes to rent, pool, hot tub, nice little cafe, and barbecue grills and fire rings are available at no extra charge. The campground was conveniently located close to shopping and restaurants. Most of the sites were shaded by trees and were paved, but some leveling was necessary. Hookups were convenient. Some highway noise but it was tolerable. The flight of numerous military helicopters flying over at all hours of the day and night was not. Wi fi (Tengo) and cable TV are offered but inadequate. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Hidden Cove Trailer Park, Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was somewhat of a makeshift site to accommodate our smaller rig in this unique laid out park. Trailers and motorhomes seem to be haphazardly scattered around a packed gravel access and egress road. Nonetheless, our site was level and worked well for us with good access to hookups. Residents are mostly seasonal/full time with few daily visitors. There are no amenities, but, what the park lacks in accommodations and amenities, it more than makes up for in hospitality. The manager is very helpful and friendly, but unfortunately will be leaving next season. Close to the interstate for easy traveling access. We would stay here again when in Yuma. We camped at Hidden Cove Trailer Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wishing Well RV & Trailer Court, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is really more of a mobile home park than a campground, but it served our purpose of visiting our friends in Saddlebrook. The manager greeting us was packing a revolver on her hip, somewhat of a distraction, but I'll bet everyone in the park paid their rent on time. She was, however, extremely helpful in helping us get set up in a site that was barely accessible. The location of the park is good, and there's no competition in this area so that's undoubtedly why the owner is able to charge such a relatively high price for what you get. There were no organized activities, and the office/club house was very small. We camped at Wishing Well RV & Trailer Court in a Travel Trailer.

RoVer's Roost - Escapees Park - 55+park (members only), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Escapee parks are generally filled with friendly people and this park was no exception. Facilities were sufficient but only boon dockers are given a code to the public restroom. Sufficient number of activities planned. Site was adequate and hookups were easy to access. The park is 8 miles out of town so this is a bit inconvenient for folks who want to be closer to Walmart, etc., but the town of Casa Grande seems to be a very nice town with a great Lutheran church, so the drive was well worth it. The ambience is desert but the sunset was superb and the stars at night were a nice touch. This ambience was neutralized, however, by the overwhelming smell of the feedlots when the wind blew the wrong direction. We camped at RoVer's Roost - Escapees Park - 55+park (members only) in a Travel Trailer.

Las Cruces KOA, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This campground received both the KOA Founder's and President's Award and I can see why. Each site is groomed each day, and the manager runs a tight ship. The 360 degree views are good from every site. Hookups are easily accessible, site was level, and access was good. The only negative was the pricing on the RV accessories for sale in the office. $7.50 for a pair of cotter pins is ridiculous so buy whatever you need at Walmart. We camped at Las Cruces KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park used to be a KOA six years ago. Sites are gravel and may require some leveling. Hookups are convenient and everything works well, including wi-fi. The bathrooms were being remodeled at the time of our stay so they are unisex for the time being. This park is right off the interstate and is conveniently located to take day trips to Ft. Stockton, Big Bend and Fort Davis. The owner seems to like cats because they accompany you on your walk around the park. The cafe is a nice amenity and serves very good food, but it's a little pricey. This is a very popular park due to its location and lack of competition, so book a reservation early for a night's stay. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Take-It-Easy RV Resort (55+ park), Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The pull through sites were narrow and near highway, but were on asphalt and hookups were convenient. Wi-fi reception was sporadic at peak times. The facilities were very good: hot tub, swimming pool and large recreation room. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was as good as the one I have at home. Access to site would be tight for larger rigs, but we only have a 21 foot travel trailer and had no problem negotiating the turns. We camped at Take-It-Easy RV Resort (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.
