Emmaus Motor Coach and RV Resort, Summerdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

The person meeting us upon arrival was friendly and welcoming. The grounds were well kept and the sites were level. Other than that, all the facilities mentioned on the website were non-existent. There were no amenities. There was no picnic table nor fire pit. The shower and bathroom had decent fixtures but were not clean, especially the floor. We would not return. We camped at Emmaus Motor Coach and RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Villa Alameda RV Resort (55+ Park), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly and clean RV park. The pool and hot tub were great, and the showers and restroom were clean but dated. All the residents, both full time and transient, were welcoming. On the downside, the airport and a military flying facility are very near-by. Moreover, the wifi hardly worked. We camped at Villa Alameda RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We liked Mariscos mar azul for seafood. Other than that, Yuma offers very little.

Twin Peaks Campground (NPS Campground), Ajo, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $6.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very beautiful, a pleasure to visit, with extensive hiking trails, and wonderful informative presentations by Rangers. More of the park has been reopened, and we felt very safe there; even on hiking trails. Our site was spacious, with a cement pad, cement patio, picnic table, and barbecue. The showers and restrooms were so clean, although the shower water is solar heated - so be ready for a cool shower. The Rangers were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Twin Peaks Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Fort De Soto Campground, Tierra Verde, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Highly recommended! Beautiful campground with level and roomy sites with a fair amount of privacy. We had a site on the lagoon, and there were loads of birds visiting each day. The Ranger checking us in was polite and welcoming. Wi-fi is only available at the Ranger office and the store. We loved North Beach on the Gulf, a 5 minute ride from the campground. We camped at Fort De Soto Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fiesta Key RV Resort, Long Key, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

There are signs all over the facility saying "It is on our fix it list." Well, they are right, and during our week stay, we never saw a single repair being done. The best thing about camping here is watching the sunset each evening. Everything else- site, pool, hot tub, restaurant, bathrooms, showers- were subpar. We do not plan to return. We camped at Fiesta Key RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area, Ellicott City, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park, so close to Baltimore. The sites have plenty of space and some privacy. We camped in the electric loop #412, and it was level and placed on compacted soil. The bathrooms and showers were well kept and comfortable. It would be certainly more convenient to have water at each site. If you want to have a campfire, you must buy wood there. We heard that they stick closely to their check-in time of 3 P.M. We would stay here again. We camped at Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area in a Travel Trailer.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good, convenient campground for an overnight stop. The sites are either paved or crushed rock. They have "commuter" spots for arrivals after 6 P.M., which are at a reduced rate. Wi-Fi was slow, but the restrooms and showers were new and clean. There are no continental breakfasts after the "snow birds" leave. We wanted to use the spa, and requested that the heat be turned on. When we came back a half hour later, it was still cold. That was a disappointment . If we are coming north, we would stay here again. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Travel Trailer.

George L. Smith State Park, Twin City, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We found camping heaven at George L. Smith State Park. Most of the wonderful sites were within feet of the lake. The sites were level and on compacted sandy soil. All facilities - hiking, boating, bathrooms, showers, laundry - were well maintained. The hosts were out every day taking care of the campground. There was ice and wood for sale, and a variety of boats to rent. The cypress trees growing in the lake and the bird population were extraordinary. This is a gem, and we plan to return. We camped at George L. Smith State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This review may be influenced by the fact that it rained every day we were on Jekyll Island. We were totally underwhelmed by this campground. The sites were one on top of the other, the roads were sandy soil and dead leaves. The bathrooms and showers were moderately clean but ancient. Some of the washers and dryers worked. The Wi-Fi did work. There's no place to walk a dog. It seems that the State of Georgia has made no improvements here since it purchased the Island. But they are the only show in town. We would not return. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Big Lagoon State Park, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This park is doing a great job for the public. The welcoming staff was friendly and helpful. Our site was spacious and also afforded some privacy. The Lagoon is beautiful, and the park supplies all kinds of boats and life jackets for rent. They even offer binoculars on loan for bird watching. The showers and restrooms were modern, clean, and comfortable. There is an observation tower from which you can see the Lagoon and Pensacola Bay. We would return here if we were in the area. We camped at Big Lagoon State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly and helpful welcome staff. Because they were so booked, we changed our site once during our stay. Spacious and wooded sites offering privacy. Wonderful path leading down to a beautiful and uncrowded beach with soft white sand. Modern and clean shower room, bathroom and laundry. Don't buy firewood here, our wood was non-flammable. We would plan to return in the future. We camped at Henderson Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Pickens Campground, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We were so excited about coming here until we went to check in. The park employee assisting us acted like we were bothering her, told us all the things we couldn't do, and was unfazed when we discovered that the site assigned to us was too small to hold our 17 foot Casita and our car. She suggested we park our car nearby, even after we told her that many of our supplies are kept in our car. With that said, the Fort and museum were astounding, the beach was to die for, and the birds and wildlife were amazing. Loop A is the recommended area. We will return and stay there. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Meaher State Park, Spanish Fort, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

From the first welcoming words and friendliness at the entrance gate, we knew we were in a good place. The sites were roomy and comfortable, and our site was right on the water. The sunset with the lights of Mobile across the water was awesome. The new restrooms and showers were wonderful, and the laundry was clean and well stocked with machines. We would most certainly return. We camped at Meaher State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Valley of Fire State Park, Overton, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Prepare your eyes for a feast. The bluest of blue skies and wind sculpted red rock in formations that continuously surprise. Seriously, this is a must stop and must see. Our rate reflects dry camping with a water spigot nearby. Sites with electric and water are $30. There is pump out and water fill at campground entrance. We dry camped in the Arch Rock campground, which offers vastly more seclusion and privacy. Site numbers that are the best in this campground are #15 - 29, which is a spur off the main loop. Arrive early in the day, this area is very popular. We plan to return We camped at Valley of Fire State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Catalina Spa RV Resort, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The sites were wide enough, with shrubbery dividing each site. We stayed in the older section, which had more landscaping. The newer area might be better for big rigs. The rate reflects the fact that we agreed to take a tour from the marketing department. So it was $45 for the first night, and then 3 nights for free. The tour was very low key. The area we stayed in was old and needed updating. The concrete pad at our site was broken and crumbling. The pool, showers, and bathrooms were also old. Some residents volunteer throughout the facility, and did not have a customer service attitude. Won't return. We camped at Catalina Spa RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
