Tulsa RV Ranch, Beggs, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

OK if you like steer roping. Mostly a gravel lot; some trees, some full time residents. Site was level. No WiFi, but Verizon OK. 10 mile drive to Tulsa. We camped at Tulsa RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Goodland KOA, Goodland, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park has new owners. We stayed here a few years ago and were impressed. Many of the big trees are gone, and there are not as many flowers as before. Perhaps storm damage, perhaps neglect, perhaps bugs and disease. New owners should correct. With that said this is a good stop for a one night stand. Everything is neat and clean. Nice dog park and run. We camped at Goodland KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground), Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is first come, no reservations and a holiday, so site selection was limited. Our site was downhill slope but we were good. We like the quiet here; our second stay. We had full hookup which to us is unusual in a National Park. While sites are close, we did not notice. Some road noise. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are narrow; all back-in. We had a site on an outer loop and with our dinette in the back of the trailer we had a beautiful view of an open field. If you like horses, this is the place to be. WiFi OK, Verizon good. Full on the weekend, quiet during the week. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cherry Hill Park, College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

If you are visiting DC, this is the place to stay. It is called a "park", but it is more of a resort. We had a pull thru, but most are back in sites. All sites seem to be full hook up. Presentations on visiting DC including tours, buses and Metro trains. Service is excellent. We camped at Cherry Hill Park in a Travel Trailer.

Campfire Lodgings, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful park with a beautiful view of the mountains and river below. Happily we did not have to go up the hill in a big rig, but no problem with our travel trailer. We could have used an extra 5 feet of sewer hose to permit us to fit the site better but we were OK with that. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Campfire Lodgings in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Try the White Duck Taco place in the Arts District. Good and eclectic food. Biltmore is more commercial than I remember from many, many years ago (the winery was then the dairy farm).

St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA, St. Petersburg, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

If you are a snow bird and like lots of park activities, and do not mind close quarters, this is a good place. If you like open spaces and don't care about planned activities (us), then look elsewhere. Since we were visiting family, the park was OK for us. We camped at St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

A grass field, but surprisingly level site. Pick your own site as few spaces taken. Arrived on Saturday; office closed until Monday. No sewer, but dump station. We enjoyed seeing the horses play in the pasture. We camped at Farr Park Campground & Horse Activity Center in a Travel Trailer.

Sandpiper RV Resort, Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are close, but this goes with closeness to the beach. Park was full; rigs come and go, but full. 43 sites, mostly back in, but some pull thrus. Expensive, but we would stay again.

Lot spacing was nearby with sunny/open exposure. Site surface was a concrete pad and featured a picnic table. We camped at Sandpiper RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Miller Creek RV Resort, Johnson City, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Visiting family in Austin, but with SXSW (South by Southwest annual music, media and film festival), this was as close as we could get. With that said, we liked this park a lot and would stay here again. Park has lots of long term stays (winter Texans). Clean and well kept.

Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was gravel. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Texas RV Park of Big Spring, Big Spring, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived after dark, but our information including site number was on a clip board at the office, so service good. Site was hard to find in the dark. The park needs some night lighting, especially entrance; construction on road did not help. Park appears to have lots of construction workers and full timers. This was an overnight stop for us.

Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was gravel. We camped at Texas RV Park of Big Spring in a Travel Trailer.
