Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We can't say enough about this state park. The sites are very spacious with adequate shade on each. Great staff. Loved watching the deer and turkeys walking around between the sites. Park has a huge lake and numerous fishing spots. Wifi worked surprisingly well (we use an extender). Very close to shopping and facilities although you would never know it from inside. Extremely well maintained. Stayed for a week and would definitely stay here again. The rate quoted above included the required parking pass ($9 per day). Park is always pretty booked so it is advised to reserve well in advance. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground), Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Gravel sites, adequate for an overnight stay. They have a loaner car if you want to go into Rawlins which is close by. Also have a store which is pretty well stocked for essentials. We would stay again in our motorhome if passing through. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment. We camped at Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground) in a Motorhome.

Park City RV Resort, Park City, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Beautiful views of the mountains. We didn't use the facilities so can't comment on that. Park is very well kept and is quiet enough. Sites were a little close but not enough to be an issue. Shopping and restaurants nearby. They do have a lower area which are dirt/gravel sites and are a little cheaper. We would definitely stay in the upper level again with our motorhome. We camped at Park City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Park is close to the old Olympic ski jump and bob sled facility which they have turned into a museum. They still train on the ski jumps there if you're interested in seeing that. Old Park City is a neat area to explore.

Pros: Park personnel very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Wifi poor to non existent, rough gravel/dirt sites, sites fairly close together.

Didn't use their facilities or cable so can't comment on their cleanliness or adequacy. Would stay again for an overnight but no longer. We camped here in a motorhome. We camped at Angel Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Poche Plantation, Convent, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

It's hard to know where to begin with this park. The site was fine, level and all utilities OK. Wi-Fi was generally working. The pool was not in use and seemed to be under some kind of construction although the weather wasn't very accommodating anyway. Never saw a soul in the clubhouse and there were no activities or events of any kind. Laundry, showers and restrooms were somewhat tired but OK for the purpose. From what we could tell, the park is largely populated with working people. St James Parish sheriff patrols the park regularly. We almost never saw the owner/manager and were never able to arrange a tour of the plantation although we asked a couple of times. The office was never manned during our stay. The gift shop never opened the entire 8 days we were there (we cut our original 2 week planned stay short). We were there over Christmas so the park was a virtual ghost town for a few days. When leaving we had to chase down the owner to pay him. We have no idea what the rate shown was based on since it seems like the owner/manager makes them up on the fly. The best way we can describe the stay was that we felt more like tenants than guests and just had an odd feeling about the place. In fairness it may be because we were there over Christmas but we could find no evidence that there was anything happening there. We will not stay again. We camped at Poche Plantation in a Motorhome.

Whispering Meadow RV Park, Westlake, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This was an excellent park. Nice level sites. We stayed in #17, which was the first site nearest the street so there was a little bit of road noise but not enough to be a problem. Restrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. Propane available on site. Owners are true gems. Very nice golf course right down the street. Plenty of things to do in the area. We stayed here for a week and will definitely stay here again. Rate shown is with a Good Sam discount. We camped at Whispering Meadow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This was an adequate facility for a short stay. Bathroom/showers were clean, utilities all adequate. Staff friendly and helpful. They have a small cafe on the premises for breakfast and dinner which was decent. We were told it's usually pretty windy but did not have that experience. Not a resort by any stretch but more than adequate for passing through. We stayed 2 nights. Rate quoted was with Good Sam discount. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gaslight Square Mobile Home Park, Canutillo, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Not a destination park. Neighborhood is fairly run down. The office is located in the surrounding mobile home community, away from the RV area, so we were somewhat confused as to where to go upon arrival. Spots were tight. Utilities and internet were all OK. Were going to stay 2 nights, but didn't feel comfortable so we cut it to one. Would not recommend and will not stay again. We camped at Gaslight Square Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages, Indio, California

Date of Stay: November, 2012 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay here. The grounds were neat and well kept with adequate utilities, showers, etc. Very nice clubhouse and pool area. Park schedules numerous activities and arranges discounted golf fees for several area courses. Nice fitness facility as well as billiard room if you're so inclined. Much less wind than Desert Hot Springs. We stayed six nights and would stay again. We camped at Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2012 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We generally liked this park and our stay here over Thanksgiving. Park was full due to the holiday. The major downside for us was lack of sewer (dump station only) but water and 50 amp service was fine. This is a state park so no TV/internet services, but our Verizon service and Directv worked fine. Park has 3 lagoons that are stocked with trout every other week, so fishing was great. Dog owners be aware of numerous foxtails. We would stay here again. We camped at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in a Motorhome.
