Longhorn RV Resort, Niederwald, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice RV park and even nicer owners and staff. Plenty of space between fairly level concrete pads. Only thing missing is some shade trees. Cable TV is good and Wi-Fi strong, at least up near the office where we were located. Wi-Fi is free for the basic tier of data which was sufficient for what I needed. If you want to stream video or need multiple devices connected simultaneously, then you may need to pay for upgraded service. Nice pool and hot tub area with a very comfortable adjacent rec room. One of the best, cleanest laundry that we have seen. Cost was maybe a bit higher ($2.25 a load) but you will not need to run anything through the dryer a second time as the time was longer and always dried our clothes in one cycle -- well worth a little added cost to not have to add more money. Bathrooms were spotless and incredibly clean. We had a new motor coach that had an issue with filling the LP tank. Multiple people had tried without success to fill the tank. The owner immediately diagnosed the issue and then spent a lengthy amount of time required to get the tank filled. We were very grateful for his expertise, patience, and persistence (hot showers finally!). We highly recommend this RV park! We camped at Longhorn RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA, Fort Mill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Our family has enjoyed this campground for many years but no more as the campground quality has significantly declined over the last couple years. KOA should remove this campground from their system as it no meets the standards expected from a KOA. What once was a clean, well maintained, family friendly campground is no more. The jumping pillow and mini-golf have been removed. The playground was unavailable and the pool was closed for renovation but appears to have been "under construction" for quite some time now. Upon entering you are told to go to a new office but a sign there redirects you back across a parking lot to a store to register. An escort to your site is no longer provided. Our site was listed as a back-in site but due to the reconfiguration of the campground to intersect a number of sites in the front with a chain link fence, it would have been impossible to back my motorhome into the site if required. Fortunately no one was on the adjacent site and I was able to pull through (many of the sites are listed as pull-through but become back-in if campers are placed on both the front and rear of the site). The lack of another camper in the adjacent site was also fortunate since the water bib did not work at our site and I had to run an extra length of water hose across my site to use the water at the other site. The site was also littered with cigarette butts. My wife used the restrooms during a peak demand time in the motorhome and found them clean but also discovered that three of the five showers didn't work. Cable TV worked well but Time Warner is switching many of their channels to digital and you will soon need an adapter to view them. We didn't use much of the free Wi-Fi but performance was acceptable. Overall, we were very disappointed in our experience this time and will visit another nearby campground on our next visit to the area. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

Cross Winds Family Campground, Linwood, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, clean park that's only been open for about 3-4 years now. The owner was very friendly and accommodating as we were running late arriving and she remained late after hours to help us get checked in when we arrived. We have stayed here twice, always in their "transient" section near the front since we were just stopping for an overnight stay. The sites in this area are big, level pull-through sites. They have what appears to be very nice shaded sites in the rear of the park. The free Wi-Fi connection is excellent, among the best of any park we have ever visited. We will definitely return when we are in the area again. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2008 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This campground ranks right up there among the best in our experience. The Disney quality we've come to expect in their other resorts and theme parks was also evident throughout Fort Wilderness. Yes, the sites and roads leading to them are tight as most reviews have indicated but should be manageable for any experienced RV driver. We stayed in one of the premium sites on Loop 700 which had been recently updated to include a new concrete pad. Wired broadband internet access is very reliable but expensive at $9.95 per 24 hours. A cable modem kit can be checked out for a refundable $125 deposit if you do not bring one with you. Wireless hot spots are also available in select locations at an even pricier $4.95 per hour. If visiting any theme park other than the Magic Kingdom (accessible via ferry), I highly recommend bringing a dinghy to avoid the wait and confusion of the bus transportation system. The campground offers a substantial number of amenities and daily events. Since we spent the majority of our time in the Disney theme parks we will definitely return to take advantage of these amenities. I would rate this campground a 10 were it not for the expensive internet access and a limited set of cable TV channels (mostly Disney owned and local channels). We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA, Fort Mill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Our family often uses this campground as a base for visits to the nearby Carowinds theme park (we have season passes). We always find it very clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. We appreciate the recently added dog run and our kids always enjoy the jumping pillow. Free WiFi access is available and works well in our experience. The daily rate is a bit high even with the KOA Value Kard discount and we would expect to see cable TV available at this price but we will definitely return. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Motorhome.

River Bottom Farms RV Resort - Jellystone, Swansea, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing and exceptionally clean campground. It is located well out in the country but worth the effort to find it. The family running the campground is very hospitable and accommodating. They have planned events most every weekend with special emphasis on activities for kids. As one reviewer indicated, they did have some issues with WiFi reliability at one time but they appear to have added a repeater on the building by the swimming pool and made some other improvements that have substantially improved this free service. I highly recommend this campground as a great location to just get away from it all and we will definitely return. We camped at River Bottom Farms RV Resort - Jellystone in a Motorhome.
