Seattle / Tacoma KOA, Kent, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in one of the premium back-in sites since our fifth wheel is 42' long, though they would have let us stay in a pull-through. Other reviewers stating that the sites are small and on top of each other are referring to the pull-throughs. They have approximately eight sites that are longer, wider and are back-ins, but they are more expensive. We had plenty of room in our back-in site. The overall feeling as you drive through the campground is that it is decently maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. When we decided to leave a few days early, they didn't hesitate in giving us a refund for the days we didn't use.

The general area is mostly commercial. Night-time traffic is noisy at times, especially on the weekends. Cars with loud exhausts and motorcycles were often ripping up and down the main road near the campground.

We did have our bicycles stolen from the front of our rig - our first theft of any kind in three years of full-time RVing. The cable lock was cut and the bikes taken sometime in the middle of the night. We informed the front desk just to let them know and they acted surprised that "security" didn't see it happen. We never really saw anything that resembled "security" while we were there.

We have family in the area and will not stay here again. We've already started looking at other places for next year's visit. We camped at Seattle / Tacoma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pineglen Motorcoach and RV Park, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on an overnight in 2013 and were so impressed that when our son was stationed at nearby Tyndall AFB, this has become our go-to place to stay when visiting him, even though it is a 40 minute drive from the base. The owners keep the place looking great all the time. Longer term campers keep their sites neat and clean. The laundry room is great, restrooms and showers kept very clean. Even though the park is right next to a major highway, road noise is very minimal due to all the pine trees and other foliage. We camped at Pineglen Motorcoach and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Levi Jackson State Park, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here several times as we have family literally next door to the park. It can get a bit busy or noisy in the summer, but that's to be expected. Stopping through in April, you'll find the park nearly empty. Quiet, peaceful and lovely setting. We tend to prefer the longer pull-through sites in the "D" section. Note that some of the site descriptions are not totally accurate on the reservation site (Reserve America). We stayed in site D-5 which does not come up if you search on 50 Amp sites. A quick call to the park verified that there is 50 amp service on all the D sites. Overall, every time we've stayed here we've been satisfied with the service and value. We camped at Levi Jackson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we've stayed in this park, and both times we were extremely happy with the staff and accommodations. We have a pretty big fifth wheel (42') and it filled the pull-through site we were on, but there was plenty of room next to the trailer to park our truck. The first time we were here, the staff accommodated our need to remain on the site longer than initially planned due to a hospitalization (even through a holiday weekend). There is a lot of rock and gravel, but the place is kept very clean looking. Good strong AT&T LTE signal. Very minimal highway noise. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alamo River RV Resort, Von Ormy, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a week to attend our son's graduation from boot camp at nearby Lackland AFB. The park is about the closest you can get to the base and very convenient. The grounds are well kept. There are a lot of longer-term guests, but they keep their sites looking very neat. There are lots of areas to explore and the gated entry was an additional plus. The owner stopped by and chatted for a bit, letting us know that they'd be glad to pick up, fill and return an LP tank if we needed it. If we're in the San Antonio area again, we'll definitely stay here. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Deer Run RV Park, Troy, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second time staying here. Our first time here was actually our very first campground stop with our first trailer. Both times everyone has been really friendly. A few long-term trailers scattered about the park detracts a bit, but otherwise well kept. Cable is OK. We didn't try any other amenities. Rate reflects Good Sam discount. We camped at Deer Run RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson State Historic Site, Wetumpka, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This is our home base park when not traveling. Most previous reviews are pretty accurate. You will need a good water filter here because it is well-water and can be muddy at times. We use an inline filter and a Brita pitcher inside for drinking water. Bathrooms could use a refresh, but are kept pretty clean. Staff and regulars are friendly and very helpful. Rate reflects the monthly long term rate. We camped at Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson State Historic Site in a Fifth Wheel.

Ozark View RV Park, Omaha, Arkansas

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived late on a day that the owners were dealing with a death in the family. Emails were answered and the husband showed up with a friend to lead us to a site and help us hook up in sub-freezing weather. We paid on the way out after a two night stay. The owners were super friendly and helpful. The campground is well maintained and very well situated. Looking forward to coming back again when it isn't 19 degrees outside at night. We camped at Ozark View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Overall friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on a riverfront, concrete pad. Utilities all worked fine, Cable TV fair. Didn't try the Wi-Fi. AT&T had good signal. It rained cats and dogs the second day we were there. Water takes a while to run off, but fortunately the roads were well graveled. Would stay again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.
