Pickard Creek Campground, Hedley, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $6.00
Overall Rating:

This is quiet, rustic camping at its best with a pull-through site beside the Similkameen River. The only services are clean pit toilets, fire pits, and tables. The sites are large and removed from each other. You are expected to take your garbage with you and to leave the site ready for the next camper. We camped at Pickard Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground), Castlegar, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a 55+ park which is located on an old drive-in movie site and provides superior service to older travelers. Our lot was on the riverside so we had a great view of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers. It was a large site with 30 amp power, water, sewer, cable tv, gravel parking area and grass all around. The services are located at the front of the lot so you may need extensions for cords and hoses. There is a community firepit and the bathhouse has two toilets and sinks and one shower. We would stay at this park again. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Travel Trailer.

Kimberley Riverside Campground, Kimberley, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This rv park is out in the country so you have to travel to Marysville or Kimberley for shopping and services. With a reservation our check-in was painless and we were directed to our site quickly. It is a large, secluded site at the end of a cul-de-sac with 30 amp power, water, sewer, picnic table, and firepit. It overlooks the St Mary River which is 50 feet below a steep bank. There is no tv or cell service but wifi is available down the road at the bathhouse. There is a nice shaded bench to sit on while you do your internet business. The clean bathhouse has several toilets and two showers (free) and two sinks. This park is built on the side of the mountain so there are many levels connected by a switch-back road. Our site was at the back of the lowest level. The office is at the entrance to the park. We stayed three nights and everything was fine but there were many mosquitoes. We would stay here again. We camped at Kimberley Riverside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Arrow Mountain RV Park, Creston, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park, located behind the Ramada Hotel, that opened in May 2017 with a mix of pull-through and back in sites. Each site has a gravel pad, grass, and power, water, sewer, and strong wifi. There are no trees in the park. The rear part of the campground is full of machinery and construction materials. The rates listed on the web site are high (our site is listed at $50) but for us there was a 30% discount. As a result, over three days we had three neighbours with each just staying one night. The last night we were the only campers. Therefore, this campground is quiet and uncrowded except for the one train passing by each day. The bathhouse consists of a room with toilet and sink and another room with toilet, sink, and shower. Neither room was cleaned during our visit. Unless the nightly price is reduced we would not stay here again. We camped at Arrow Mountain RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kaslo Municipal Campground, Kaslo, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located near Kootenay Lake on the edge of town so it is easy to walk into town to enjoy the shops and services. Since we were staying only one night it was difficult to find a site that would accommodate our 43 feet of truck and trailer. The manager was quite helpful in finding us a level, grassed site with 30 amp power and water. The pay showers ($1 for 3 minutes) are clean and new. There is a sanidump nearby along with wifi, and radio but no tv. We would stay here again. We camped at Kaslo Municipal Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a quiet, grassy campground located 30 km south of Nakusp. It is beside the Upper Arrow Lake where trees surround the sites that are large, level, and convenient with a surface of flat rocks and grass and include 30 amp power and water, a firepit, and a table. The showers are clean and free and there is a $5 fee to use the sanidump. There is no tv unless you have a satellite, no radio, and no wifi. We would stay at this park again. Dickinson Family Farm, Summerland, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located on a fruit farm and It was difficult to find the entrance as it is around the corner and looks like a hole in the fence. The entrance road is narrow and between the 10 sites. Most sites are grass with a water and power post. With campers across the road and a cherry orchard behind it is difficult to back into your site. Your truck must be at an angle to provide room for unhitching and hitching. Big rigs will have problems in this campground. There is an outdoor sink with cold water located beside the pit toilet and the pay shower ($1 for 2.5 minutes) is a stall/open building beside a storage shed. The closest sanidump is 5 km south of Summerland. Given a cost of $35 plus GST for limited space and services we will not stay here again. We camped at Dickinson Family Farm in a Travel Trailer.

Cultus Lake Provincial Park, Cultus Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We recently stayed three nights during the week in the Delta Grove Campground where only 25% of the sites were occupied. Our site was on the lake and large enough to accommodate our 23' trailer and truck. We did not have a reservation so experienced a strange check-in procedure. When we entered the park and passed the main gate house there was no sign stating we should stop and register so we assumed we would choose a vacant site and someone would come to collect our fees. When we got to the campground there was a sign stating we had to register at the gate house. So back we go 2 km to register. Our neighbour also experienced this same confusion. The other annoyance we encountered was power boats with huge audio systems blasting away on the lake. These were so loud they seemed to be in our camp site. We stayed at this campground in a travel trailer and would return again in either May, early June, or September. We camped at Cultus Lake Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elwha Dam RV Park, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is an old park with small sites that recently acquired new owners who are trying to make improvements. The roads are narrow and winding, so backing into the site was a challenge. The short site was slightly unlevel with E/W/S and bushes close by on each side. There is no tv or wifi but reasonable cell service. We would not stay here again. Fort Worden State Park (Beach campground), Port Townsend, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

After much confusion and a visit to the campground host we were told to go back to a central building to register and get a site number. The registration process is poor (no clear signage) for first time visitors. The site we received was great. It was an long, paved, outside, curved pull-through site, quite private, with E/W/S conveniently located. There are a few on-air tv channels. However, the sewer connection is most bizarre as it is a 4", cast iron elbow parallel with the higher ground around it. Most difficult to connect a tradition sewer hose without making a mess. We camped in a travel trailer and would stay here again. We camped at Fort Worden State Park (Beach campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We took an amazing eight hour sea cruise with Puget Sound Express which included a two hour lunch break in Friday Harbour.

North Whidbey RV Park, Oak Harbor, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This park was satisfactory except for the lingering smell of sewer gas. We were not sure where this smell originated but it was there for three days. We had a back-in site that was just long enough for our trailer and truck. This paved site had E/W/S and cable tv with the pedestal conveniently located. However, there are a number of pull-through sites around the outside row that are too short. We watched a number of big rigs drive on the grass, the neighbour's pad, and the edge of the road to get positioned so their slides did not hit the services pedestal. We would stay here again. Overall Rating:

This park is located just south of Anacortes, WA and just off Highway #20. On arrival we received a friendly welcome and were escorted to our site. Fees are payable with cash or debit card. The park is quite large with many long-term residents. Some of the sites are owned by campers who use them as seasonal sites or rent them out to the public. The roads are wide and covered with fine gravel so can be extremely dusty. Our site was large, level, wide open, back in, and with easy access. The E/W/S connections are well-placed including cable television. The site has a fire pit and picnic table. The shower house is a long walk from our site. We would stay here again. The back-in sites are private but short so we had to scout around to find one that was long enough. We were only staying one night so did not want unhitch. The site had no services except for a fire pit and picnic table but a short walk took us to the beach area. There are side-by-side, pull-through sites in the centre of the loop with 30A power and water with a sani-dump nearby. We had no on-air TV but excellent cell service.
