Grants / Cibola Sands KOA, Grants, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

After two months on the road coast to coast and many interactions with various RV park staff, I have to say our check in with the owner was the best ever. The park is in hot dry New Mexico so there's not much to look at, but the owner's enthusiasm, efficiency and caring for her campers well being was awesome! It really set the tone for enjoying this park even though it was just a pass thru journey KOA. This owner should teach customer service classes at KOA school. Or at least get a special recognition from KOA as journey owners. It is amazing what a persons attitude can do! So now I'll take off my rose colored glasses of enthusiasm and say, yes, This KOA is pretty basic. No pool, showers small but very clean! (How about take out the vanity and enlarge the two shower stalls?) Sites gravel and level. We had a small tree. Old wooden picnic table, but painted and very usable. I appreciate that she places everyone sites apart spread all over the park rather than clump all of us in one area. Those are the little things that tell me she is thinking about our experience. She personally comes by and makes sure everything is working and OK. I like that there is staff on site 24/7. If ever full, the sites would be typical KOA close. WiFi was exceptional. Cable TV lots of channels. Complimentary continental breakfast and she'll make dinner for a small price and even deliver. Good pies with dinner. Train whistle if you're sitting outside. No highway noise. Stop there just to get to read the "best KOA rules." They are the best! Very creative and entertaining. We camped at Grants / Cibola Sands KOA in a Motorhome.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

We were disappointed with this RVC property. It is poorly laid out and the back in premium sites are not really premium. The one we were first assigned was very short and had a large drain in the middle of the site. (S12). Luckily we were able to move. Sites very close together and most utilities in the back. The staff is not all that friendly and helpful, except for one young man who helped me find a good route in around the construction. I had to leave two phone messages and a Facebook message to get info on how to maneuver around the horrible construction mess right at the entrance. I only learned of the problems through rv park reviews. Typical of a corporate owned park. Websites should post current conditions but they don't. A park of their price should at a minimum have a shelf or racks in the SHOWERS to place shower items. No benches, no hooks, nothing. Not that well managed. All the T-shirt's and clothing covered the entire time we were there. When I asked, he said it was because they hadn't taken inventory yet, and weren't allowed to sell them until they are inventoried. Lots of red rocks piled up various places. Guess they don't have anyone that can spread it. Building materials in the restrooms not very appealing. Unfortunately, we didn't see any other rv parks any better. Their location to garden of the Gods can't be beat. It would have been nice for them to tell us how to get there when we checked in. Next time we will stay about 30 miles west of town. Surprisingly, WiFi seemed to work pretty consistently. Splintered picnic table. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Motorhome.

Venture River RV Park, Eddyville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice little RV park next to the Waterpark. I think this would be a great fun place to spend the weekends and holidays with family and kids! Nice playground and games available. Even on Memorial Day weekend, the waterpark didn't seem crowded and it had some awesome "rides" and a lazy river for us old folks. The RV Park is new, small, and family owned. Really really nice folks who are open to suggestions to improve the new rv Park. The sites are gravel and level. New plastic picnic tables so I hope people respect them and not put their bbqs on them. Small trees so not a lot of shade YET! Little patches of grass which will be hard to maintain I think. Campers letting their dogs pee and running over the grass with trucks won't help. Private showers, but I don't like the push button, one temp kind of faucets that stop after a minute or so. I guess with kids, it's a good idea. Bathrooms are new (it's a new park) and nicely furnished and VERY CLEAN! WiFi not very good, but it was Memorial Day weekend. Even early in the morning at 6 am, no good. I would suggest they invest in some repeaters throughout the park. For $53 a night, WiFi should be better! And they should not encourage folks to stream Netflix since the park doesn't have cable tv. We had a pull through in the middle of the park. All the back ins on the lake were taken. I would have liked a path access to the lake. As it was set out, I would have had to walk through someone's site. Or walk to the other side of the lake to sit. Close to grocery store and laundromat. Walk to one of the best restaurants in the area. All in all, RV travelers in the beautiful Kentucky Lake area should stop here! We camped at Venture River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Houston East RV Resort, Baytown, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We have been to over 150 rv parks throughout the U.S.; many high end and expensive. I have to say, from the very first phone call, this place is top drawer. My reservation was handled efficiently and the person on the phone very understandable. I always give more points when a park will let me select my site. I like when a park has a good website with the rv park site map. I knew this place was going to be good. Check in process continued their high quality service. She greeted me with a smile and two cold bottles of water with their own koozies and a little bag of ice...nice touch!! Everything was explained thoroughly and her advertisers will be happy she pointed them out to me in her brochure. She even offered to help me with my iPhone if I had any problems connecting to WiFi. She explained that the free WiFi was basic but we could pay for an upgrade. Our WiFi was very good. Lots of cable tv channels. All came in clear. Grounds are very nicely kept and lots of mowed grass between sites. The back of the park is for worker bees and long termers but all rigs are nice and in good shape. No junk on the outside. If I had to stay in the Houston area for a long period, I would stay here EXCEPT the NOISE from I-10 is really bad! I am not going to mark them down but my husband will probably not sleep well. Bathrooms are modern and clean. Laundry room very clean. Sites cement and level. Easy in and out. They escort you to your site. Excellent customer service! Too bad it's on the I-10 frontage road. We camped at Houston East RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Steamboat Springs KOA, Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Doesn't really matter what reviewers say, if you want to be close to steamboat, then this is really your only option. And the park knows it. Yes, the bathrooms clean, but when we got there, the method of cleaning was to throw a bucket of water on the floors. Very difficult not to get your pants wet while using the toilet. The women's private "trash cans" never emptied for the 3 days we were there. The man who checked us in was great, noticed we were eligible for KOA reward, and also personally attended to the cable tv issue we were having. Other employees seemed to wander. Some guy with a clipboard talking to employees very unobservant and not friendly at all. Sites are weedy grass, uneven. No wifi! They shouldn't say they have it. They should spend money on better system like the other KOAs we have visited this year. But again, why should they? People will still come. Pull thru sites share yards. Bus to town is a nice plus. Also office hours 9am-5 pm. Too limiting. No one to call after hours. I noticed many big rigs from the national forest coming in to dump after hours. No one seemed to notice. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park has turned my husband back to KOA. We visited this park 3 years ago and liked it. It has made some good improvements. I do like that KOAs websites are easy to see what's available and has good campground maps. So important in the process, the woman checking us in was superb! She was helpful, efficient, and enthusiastic. We got one of the new patio sites. They were very untypical KOA. THEY WERE WIDE AND LONG! And they had built privacy fences! Fantastic!! Yes, they are gravel sites and gravel roads, but hey, it's a Rock Springs! Bathrooms immaculate and new fixtures including hand held shower head in the accessible shower. Very good wifi. This is our favorite KOA. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Best wifi ever! Of the 329 rv parks we have visited, best consistent wifi! Also best cable reception and offerings. Just couldn't find a listing to match shows to channels. Yes, narrow gravel sites. Small strip of grass. Big wide asphalt roads. Nice pool and hot tub area. Friendly check in. Good private showers and toilets. Super clean. Nice laundry attached to community room with big tv. Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Sites not level. None of the sites around the "lake" looked level. Our ground and outlet tester showed that the site had a bad ground. Mostly long term folks. We had to change sites after one day and it was a real mess since the site we were going into, the person was changing sites as well, but didn't move until after the check out time of noon. It affected 4 units switching around. I don't think their computer system is adequate to accommodate all the switching they allow. This was the only rv park with an opening because of the housing shortage in the Seattle/Bellevue area. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Motorhome.

Port Ludlow RV Park, Port Ludlow, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We had sunny dry weather when we stayed here, so it was a good experience. Since the sites are dirt, it could be muddy during the rainy season. We loved that it was small, private sites and very quiet. Probably the quietest place we have ever camped!! As mentioned before,Sites are in the woods with trees between them. The owner was very nice and responsive to our initial wifi issues. After that, wifi very good. Antennae tv very erratic; not very many channels. We enjoyed going down to ludlow falls from the trail attached to the campground. Toilets and showers were very clean, however rustic. 25 cents for 5 minutes of hot water. Very convenient to Port Townsend and Port Gamble. We camped at Port Ludlow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Toutle River RV Resort, Castle Rock, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This place has lots to offer! It's great for families who like to camp and have activities for the kids. If I was a 9 year old kid, it would be paradise! You can ride your bikes all over the place on the many paved roads in the various rows of streets. Great accessible trail to the river and a fun river to explore and skip rocks in! A beautiful pool area and pool warm and clean! Nic group BBQ and refrig next to pool. Lots of activities . Covered basketball courts, pickle ball. Private bathrooms. Two separate buildings. 6 total bathrooms. Sites are gravel with brown grass, but our site level. I think for a campground like this, well manicured green lawns are a waste of money. I've seen too many seniors letting their dogs pee on the grass and ruin it. They have good rules for those that don't have common courtesy and common sense. And unlike a national rv chain that spells camping with a k, they actually have nice folks cursing around in golf carts enforcing the lease laws, etc. I appreciate that. I was surprised with all the families and limited tv, that the WIFI was so good! Nice and strong at all hours. Now the not so good news.... the trains! We wont be back because hubbie can't sleep through the train noise and whistles. In the bathroom, when the train goes by, the building does vibrate. The woman on the phone tried to give us a place away from trains, but it didn't really help. The farther you get from train ,closer you get to hwy 5 traffic. I'm amazed at most of the rvs are placed closest to the traintracks. Maybe, monthly rent is very cheap or they are deaf. We camped at Toutle River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, Troutdale, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Just got out of the wonderful shower at the bath house! I love this place! We made reservations about a month ago. I'm glad I did since there is real limited availability. Reservations on phone very good. I sorta wish now I would have reserved a river front site as suggested, but our site was perfect. Checked in with Very nicefellow who was friendly, helpful, thorough, patient and funny. Gave us a great recommendation for Bandits for food! Sites are close together...standard sewer by your neighbors picnic table. Our site nice and long! Can't say enough about the cleanliness and general upkeep of the bathrooms. Gal had just cleaned up a mess in the men's restroom so the floor had just been mopped, but she let my husband go in. He tracked dirt on the wet floor, then she went back immediately and mopped it up again!! The showers had great water power. Handicapped had good functioning hand held shower head!!! Cable tv a bit of a pain to connect, but ok. Tengonet worked great!!! (We've had issues with tengonet years ago). Close to darling town of Troutdale and access to the Sandy River. Can't say enough good things! We camped at Sandy Riverfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

JGW RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here many times. Out of over 200 rv parks, it is one of our favorites. Well maintained grounds. Level sites. Immaculate showers and toilets. Great location on Sacramento River. Easy to get to from hwy 5. But there is freeway noise. I'm glad cable tv was improved. Upon checking in, she warned that wifi may be spotty. They are getting new system. We had no problem. Guess no selfish person was streaming a bunch of stuff. I miss the swing out by the river, and wish they would fix lights in temperature sign so I could show people it was 106 degrees at 5 pm!! JGW RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 4th stay at JGW RV park. It's one of our favorites because it's consistently clean, well maintained grounds, and toilets/showers are clean and good. Shower is roomy and has a hand held shower head with good water power. And we are able to reserve space close to bathroom. The setting on the Sacramento River is very nice, but we were disappointed that the swing viewing the river was missing. We were pleasantly surprised that they had cableTV once again. We didn't reserve longer because we didn't think they had cable. They had cancelled it the last three times we were there. Wifi, like most, inadequate to non existent. The park not that crowded, and we were right across from the router. And we tried many times throughout the day, early mornings, late at night. Very level concrete pads. Large sites. Easy access. Pool too cold to swim in and it was over 100 during the day. We camped at JGW RV Park in a Motorhome.
