Pirateland Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We usually spend a couple of weeks in Myrtle Beach on the way home from Texas at Ocean Lakes, however, could not get in there this year. Pirateland does not have the same appeal as Ocean Lakes, however, has full amenities. We were close to the beach which is very nice. Hookups are a bit strange which water and sewer on one side towards back and electric, cable on the other side. Also, we were told we had to back our unit in from the passenger side which is very difficult. There are side huts for picnic tables which are in pretty bad shape. Laundry is cold water wash only, but there are lots of machines and price is comparable to other parks. If possible in the future we would prefer a stay at Ocean Lakes, but Pirateland is not a bad park just not as nice as Ocean Lakes. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA , Montgomery, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice family park. Lots of amenities for children. In good neighborhood, near restaurants, shops. Stayed for 2 days. Rained heavily the whole time. If weather permitted there round have been lots of things to do. Park was not full so there was lots of space between units. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Cotton Lane RV & Golf Resort (55+ park), Goodyear, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 3 nights, pull thru for short term. Lot nice and long, however, could be a bit tight if 2 large motor homes were parked besides each other. We have small 5th wheel so we were fine. Nice dog park, sandy and very well maintained. Laundry was large and there's even lines besides the laundry if you don't want to use dryers on certain garments. Close to baseball spring training and Phoenix International Raceway. Lots of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Looks like lots of activities for snowbirds too. If I were inclined to spend winter months in Phoenix, I would put this park on the top of my list. We camped at Cotton Lane RV & Golf Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Llano Grande Resort and Country Club, Mercedes, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Great park. Rate based on monthly stay. Large, clean, lots of activities. Residents and staff very friendly. An excellent park for extended stay. Close to Progresso Mexico and outlet stores. Good restaurants and shopping nearby. If all goes well, we plan on long term next year. A bit more money than other area parks, but worth the extra money. North section the newest. We stayed in West section which was better than a lot of parks. We have stayed in East section, the oldest, and would not be our choice in any event. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Park in desperate need of makeover. Roads in poor shape, old units, one camper had at least 5 cats around it. Close to restaurants and amenities. Would not recommend this park for anything other than quick stopover. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical KOA. Shaded pull-throughs. Clean facilities. Close to restaurants and Fredericksburg. Road to park is narrow and twisty. Good for overnight, or weekend. Pool was dirty and laundry room was not clean and smelled. We camped at Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC S. KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Right off highway, so some noise at night. Just stayed overnight. Typical KOA: pull thrus and back ins, wooded sites. This would be a good spot for a nature lover, trails etc. facilities were clean. Pull thru we had was long and we didn't need to unhook . Would recommend as overnight or for weekend. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 3 nights in May. Staff friendly and helpful as we did not reserve spot. We could not get spot with concrete pad, but there were lots of available spaces on grass only. Most trailer spots are close to ocean. Lot size is adequate, roads a bit narrow and maneuvering is a bit difficult even though all pull thrus. Facilities are clean and there's lots to do. A good family campground. Mostly local people who weekend and they were not very friendly at all. Close to Myrtle Beach attractions. We would recommend as we checked other campgrounds and this one seemed the best. We camped at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
