Kerr Lake SRA - Satterwhite Point/J. C. Cooper Campground, Henderson, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

A nice state park campground. Location was awesome with plenty of sites with great views. The most level sites appear to be on the inner loops. Our loop had lots of construction as they are removing trees and replacing the sites with new timbers and gravel. No cable, and we did not get great OTA reception on TV or radio. Had 4G with US Cellular. The frost free spigot did not cooperate with our pressure regulator and we kept losing prime so had keep resetting and finally removed regulator. Trash cans at every site. Will definitely return. We camped at Kerr Lake SRA - Satterwhite Point/J. C. Cooper Campground in a Motorhome.

Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second trip to this campground and it is a jewel outside of Asheville. Campground was very busy on this holiday weekend but enjoyable. Reserved a lakeside site (passenger side faced lake) and had great views. Had someone on duty at entrance at all times looking for parking/visitor passes. Friendly staff and plenty of family activities on site. Wifi strength was good but speed was slow due to number of users. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this park. Level gravel pad. Decent size. Older but clean and well maintained bathrooms. Loved the views. Preferred the premium loop to the others. Lots to do without ever leaving the park. Good wifi strength, but slow speed. Decent cell signal. Friendly staff. Would probably not stay next to bath house again as we had a LOT of cut through traffic from the tent sites. We will definitely return. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA, Cherokee, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in a beautiful area. The river and ponds add to it's appeal. Pull through site was level and ours was private on one side. Wifi only worked part time and wasn't the fastest. We didn't have any Verizon coverage and switched between 3G and 4G with US Cellular. Staff was friendly. Park was busy on the weekend but ok during week. Our only complaint was with the guests who let their pets run free off leash. We encountered loose dogs almost every time we walked ours on leash. Overall we thought this was a very nice park and would stay again. We camped at Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA in a Motorhome.

Harbor Point RV Community (formerly Turkey Point RV Park), Sneads Ferry, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We were pleasantly surprised by this park. It is secluded and area attractions are somewhat of a drive away. Management was very friendly, we came in later than expected due to traffic. We were escorted to our site, host turned on and tested water and gave us a brief overview. This park seems to cater mostly to long term guests, and is in excellent condition. The long term guests were very friendly and we felt welcome right away. Construction is currently underway on the new bathhouse which will be nice for the short term guests. We were unable to get wifi in our area of the park, but it was free and fast at the clubhouse. Our US Cellular data stayed mostly on 1X and our Verizon data was only OK with 3G. We especially enjoyed the water views, cool breezes, the pier and the fishing. There isn't a boat ramp here but a wildlife ramp is very close to park and there is space to tie up at pier. If you are looking for a campground close to the beaches, this may not be the place for you. We passed several on our trip to the beach that were much closer to attractions. However if you are looking for a quiet, spacious park with a pool, friendly people, great views and a relaxing atmosphere, we definitely recommend this park. We are planning to return with our kayaks on our next trip to enjoy the water. We camped at Harbor Point RV Community (formerly Turkey Point RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Newport News Park Campground, Newport News, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here twice two weeks apart. On our first trip we got to pick our site and got an excellent level site close to bath houses on C loop. On our second trip it was a holiday weekend and we got a reserved, not so level, site on water. For the price, we really enjoyed this campground. Lots of activities including biking, hiking, archery, golf, boating with rentals, fishing. The local area can get busy but inside the park it is easy to forget that. We were very pleased at the condition of the bath houses considering they are a little older. Regular ranger patrols. Free firewood gathering. Lots of nice things to say about our stay. Would have preferred to have sewer on site, but it wasn't a major inconvenience. No wifi but our Verizon and US Cellular data were just fine. We will definitely return to this park again. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Waynesboro North 340 Campground, Waynesboro, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this campground while passing through based upon other reviews. Came in a little late and left early so we were unable to see entire park. We were pleased with how beautiful and quiet this park was. Still a little early so pool was not open yet. Didn't try the Wi-Fi but did check the restroom and shower facilities. This is an older park that has been lovingly maintained. Host was very nice and helpful. Sites were very spacious and we didn't have to do any leveling. Will definitely come back if anywhere nearby. We camped at Waynesboro North 340 Campground in a Motorhome.

First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Really enjoyed our stay in this park. Sites were well spaced. Some paved, some gravel, some sand. Bathrooms were older but clean. Had a little trouble with WiFi at lounge but cell data worked just fine. Enjoyed biking and hiking in this park. Lots of trails just across the street in the main section of park. Regular patrols by park police, was a little cold and windy this trip so not sure what bugs will be like when warmer. Will definitely return. We camped at First Landing State Park in a Motorhome.

Cape Hatteras KOA, Rodanthe, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

This has been our favorite KOA park by far. It is essentially new due to rebuild after hurricane damage. Pool and amenities are clean. Had a back in site at dunes that was very nice. Can't see ocean from site, but can definitely hear it. Waterfront sites have covered picnic shelters and covered swings facing ocean. Only bathrooms we went in were next to beach access and they were clean enough for beach bathroom. It rained off and on our first day and almost the entire first night. Some roads held water but I didn't see any sites with standing water. We caught a little sewage smell for a brief while on second night that we think was coming from bathhouse vent? A little pricey as we are coming to expect with KOA but we haven't been let down by the quality yet. Will come back again and it's worth the extra cost to be waterfront. We camped at Cape Hatteras KOA in a Motorhome.

Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with blend of full sun and full shade sites. Roads are paved but not sites. Mostly level. Good security. Nice amenities included with activity fee. Water park with lazy river closed for construction, but should be nice when completed. Very nice beach access. Visited some area attractions but would have been just as happy never leaving park! More golf cart traffic than I would have liked, but not too bad. We camped at Lakewood Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2013 - $128.00
Overall Rating:

Nice older campground with good amenities. River and water views were very relaxing. Friendly staff and well maintained (but older) restrooms. Would rate a 10 if not for train at front, and trailer park at back (absolutely no trouble from trailer park, just didn't fit with the surrounding scenery!) By third night train didn't wake us up anymore. Will definitely come back. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Campground Cabin.
