Bear Den RV Resort , Grangeville, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, basic campground. Long, level gravel sites with grass in between. It would have been nice to have a table, but we had a nice shade tree. Cable was OK, and it was nice to have secured WiFi. They gave a hefty discount for being a Washington neighbor, so it was worth it for us to stay awhile. We camped at Bear Den RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Not to much to do around here. We took a nice long scenic drive and enjoyed the Clearwater River. Also visited The Monastery of St Gertrude in Cottonwood.

Riverside RV Park, Riggins, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A little bit of paradise! We landed here by accident because all the RV parks were booked south of here because of the Huckleberry Festival. I wasn't sure what to expect, being that it was such a small campground and just "off the road", but figured I could put up with about anything for three days! What a surprise! What a beauty! We had a pull-thru that put us right alongside a lush swath of grass that was under a big, beautiful shade tree and all that edged over the Salmon River! We quickly set up, put our chairs out and sat ourselves down to enjoy this incredible scenery and sounds of the rushing river below us. A mere few feet away was stone steps leading down to the river below, so one could take their fishing pole or just walk on down to sit on the large rock and dangle your feet in the river and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! One of the owners came by, quietly, from time to time to move the water sprinkler and we engaged him in small talk. Such a nice guy. I wish we could have stayed there much, much longer...like I said, pure paradise! We camped at Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice "resort", very nice paved roads, big rock sites with cement "patios" with tables and BBQ and nice grass in between spacious sites and nice large shade trees. It has a pool, but it could use more shade area. Large inside lounge area too. They have a nice dog park for those people as well. I think they have taken care of it all! Close to lots of restaurants and groceries as well. Great stop! We camped at Ambassador RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Juniper Campground, Ririe, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful county park! Ran into a "local" that comes frequently and said "shh, keep this a secret! We love it here!" Wonderful paved roads, lush green grass, well maintained, treed sites that are far apart from each other, a lake of course, even a basketball court! We were in Loop A, but our "local" suggested Loop C for even a better, more quiet area. We were only staying one night and had already found a great pull-thru, so didn't bother to check out Loop C. When we called the Park Host he had said, on a Sunday, it's pretty empty, just come on in and look at the "Reserved Signs" and check the dates, and pull into whatever is available. It's a honor system payment kiosk. I never saw anyone even come by and check to see if we paid or not. I suppose if we were staying longer, or over the weekend it would be different. Wished we were... We camped at Juniper Campground in a Motorhome.

Livingston RV Park & Campground, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was a small park in town that had a few sites for travelers, the rest were perm. We got the "best" end site, and it was a tough one to get in to, as it had a very sharp, tight turn that we had to un-hook and juggle the rig to even get into. Once in, though, it was fine. We saw the manager help quite a few people all through the night that I think were "desperate" to just get a spot off the road. There is almost nothing between here and Yellowstone to choose from, even a Walmart won't let you boondock, and when the other's are full, you are just out of luck! People were being squeezed in all around the grass, thankful for that! The manager was super nice (once you could get hold of them, I had to call and call). Not a place to stay, but good for a night. We camped at Livingston RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

River View RV Park, Fort Pierre, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Super nice owner! They have just expanded to a "lower lot" and more than doubled their size, so it's a work in progress. The view is what it's all about! Wow! It overlooks the whole city and they have created a wonderful little fire pit area area that they bring lots of firewood and build an nice fire for you to sit around and enjoy it by. We even had a "blood moon" one night. The WiFi is fantastic too, enough to do streaming if you want, explained the owner! Once the trees grow up, it's really gong to be super nice. They even built a storm shelter, they have really "thought of everything" here. We camped at River View RV Park in a Motorhome.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This place was big! Large, level gravel sites with nice big trees and really pretty flowers in between each site and all along the fencing (which also had bird houses on top). They had a well with soft water, so the showers were great and they didn't mind you using water to wash your car & rig at all, which was really great because the roads all around were super dusty. Right after we did, we got quite a rain & short hail storm, but it was ok because we had gotten all the previous dirt off. The staff was very nice and the place super clean. We would come back in a heartbeat. We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Motorhome.

W.H. Lyon Fairground, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

All grass field with a gravel drive entrance and roads. When we were there, there was hardly anyone else there, so plenty of space in between sites. It's hard to say how close each coach would be if it were "full". Super nice hosts. When I called ahead I was told that they don't take reservations, just to come in and call when I get close. We did that and then again when we arrived and they met us at the gate and escorted us to our site. We chatted for quite awhile while they suggested places to eat and go and gave us a visitor's guide to help as well. Close to just about anywhere. We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

First thing we did was head to the Falls Visitor Center and go up to the viewing tower. Great to see the falls from above, then walk down close to them! Afterward, we really enjoyed walking downtown and seeing their Sculpturewalk. They have a lot of great shops and restaurants.

York KAMPground, York, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a basic campground, all gravel & a little swath of grass in between with full hook-ups - that's it. Plain, nothing else. Level, flat, long simple sites. Downside, it was quite a drive into Lincoln to see the Capitol, but the price difference at the nearest campground was more than double! Well worth the drive. We camped at York KAMPground in a Motorhome.

USI RV Park, Wichita, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is what I call a "basic park" - no pool, playground or "toys", so not a place for kids, it had some trees around the edges, but they looked like they were for the long-timers. Spaces were close together, with just enough room to put your slides out and have a table between each coach. Parking was tight. Price was high for what you got, I thought, but slim pickings around here, plus they add on "additional electric" after the fact that they don't really tell you about when you reserve. So, depending on how hot it is and how much you use, your daily rate can go up. Our only added two more dollars to our bill, but she was surprised it was so low, so I'm guessing other people's are usually higher. People were very friendly though and place was well maintained. We camped at USI RV Park in a Motorhome.

There is a lot to see and do in Wichita, but one thing for sure not to miss (if you like candy and/or nuts) is a visit to the Nifty Nut House! Check it out, you won't be sorry! As a "camper", right around the corner from the Nuthouse is the Coleman Factory Outlet Store which is also a great stop. Downtown has a lot of fun bronze statues that are great to check out, very different.

Tall Chief Cove COE, Skiatook, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet park. We arrived on a Sunday and the "day use" area was super busy, but the campground was only half full. On Monday, the day use was empty and the campground had about 10 of us here. Typical of what we've seen in both COE & State parks around the country (sad). Nice park with good shade and nice long back-in sites. Only downside is no sewer at the sites. Lake is beautiful, clear & clean. Love the quiet! It's also pretty far off the beaten path, so expect at least 45 min. to get anywhere. Stock up! We camped at Tall Chief Cove COE in a Motorhome.

We took a day and went into Claremore to see the JM Davis Gun Museum. If you have someone who likes guns, it's really quite something. Claremore also has a Route 66 Museum and one for Will Rogers that we didn't make, but I'm sure was well worth it. Tulsa is just another half hour away from Claremore and has great Art Deco architecture, if you are into that including a small free museum. A great BBQ place that is open all day (vs only for lunch) is the Rib Crib.

Hidden Lake RV Resort, Ardmore, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the few times that the name "resort" in their name actually IS one! Wow, what a great place, and who would have guessed it out in the middle of nowhere? Bring your kids here! Beautiful pool and play area plus a big beautiful lake with two fun slides for them to go down on! Activities include boats to go out on, fishing, swimming and feeding koi & ducks. The sites were all concrete, long and level with what grass they can grow here surrounding it with picnic tables and BBQ setups. Now, if they could just control the weather (ha ha). People are super nice too, plus a great general store. Can't really ask for more! I've paid a lot more for a lot less. We camped at Hidden Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Midway Park COE, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

This place was a great find! Nice long (ours was 80') paved & level pull-thru site with a covered picnic table. 50 amp, water & sewer hook-ups. We got good WiFi coverage. Didn't get very good TV reception, but wasn't here for that. Location was good, right off the I-35/ Hwy 6 and 15 min. from Waco. You got freeway noise in the morning, but that was really it, I thought. For the money, wow, you can't beat this place! Right next to the water too, and a nice picnic area under trees. Really clean and well maintained. We camped at Midway Park COE in a Motorhome.

We arrived mid-day and stayed one additional day. I wouldn't stay any shorter than that as there is plenty to see and do in Waco! Magnolia Farms, if you add a meal, takes most of the day by itself, then add the Texas Ranger Museum, and if you have children, there are other things, plus shopping, eating, etc. A great find was a local made ice cream place called The Heritage, check it out! Yum!

The Narrows RV Park, Princeton, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Super nice people! We had a tire blow en route and had to call them several times to tell them we would be late, then to get directions (in the dark). Once there, they walked me in the dark with a flashlight to show us a spot. Nice cafe & store, they even have a gas station! They are located well off the beaten path by the Wild Life Refuge (why I picked this place) but, unfortunately, it seems I picked the wrong time of the year to visit...cold and windy and the birds have all gone and the winter ones haven't arrived yet! The sites are nicely appointed with a cement patio, table a fireplace and a BBQ stand. All level gravel pull-thrus, plenty long enough to not have to unhook if you don't need to. Cable was ok and their WiFi was ok, but only had 1 bar on my phone...like I said, we are way out in the middle of nowhere here! We camped at The Narrows RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Malhur Wildlife Refuge is right next door, and if you come in the spring or summer it's really worth the drive through it! You can pick up their CD auto tour at most stops and have it to learn as you drive, just be prepared for the "washboard" gravel road!
