Sonny's RV Park, Lexington, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for paved roads, concrete sites with a pool and other high dollar amenities keep moving. If you want peace and quiet with a mix of pull thrus and backins with 30/50 electric, sewer and well water that is great right from the tap, then you want this park for a night, a week, or what ever. Owners live on site and very friendly and are always working around the park. Park host or owner will help you get set up. Some permanents but most have clean sites and park is quiet even though on state highway. Laundry and showers available if needed. Not much to do in town but an hours drive is Austin an other way is Bryan/College Station. If 65 or over ask for retired rates. You will be pleased. We were and glad we stayed for a month. Don't forget Snows BBQ on Saturdays. We camped at Sonny's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

On Saturdays go over town to Snows BBQ, on of the top bbq joints in the state of Texas. They are only open Saturday mornings until the q runs out. Secret tip: call Snows on Friday late afternoons and order it from the cash only outside area an avoid the long lines. Order your meat and when you arrive ask for your sides. CASH only outside, no credit but they have change for your bills. Order the fatty brisket which is real moist and the excellent sausage and you can thank me when you see me.

Marina Beach RV Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed two months here after two winters in different park on the island. Complete 360 difference in park management and service. Manager here very competent and extremely nice to us and all the people in the park. Owners stay here in their motorhome as they are updating and getting the park back to excellent condition business wise after some turbulence last year with former manager. All sites fhu, wide concrete streets, long concrete sites with patio area and room for tv and boat, car, etc. Pot lucks, breakfast, bingo, cards, happy hour daily during the winter months. Happy to be here with 15 other couples from the other park. We will return. We camped at Marina Beach RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

San Antonio KOA, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Reviewed this KOA before. Had res for us and friends who also have long truck and rig and were given the sites that were requested when I called. The lady that showed us to the sites actually stopped our friends and radioed office to change their site to the empty one on our left side instead of right so our friends did not have to negotiate around a tree that was close when turning in. Excellent awareness by this person. Power, water, sewer hook ups worked as expected. Rained hard but our sites had no pooling as others had. Hunt Brothers pizza good and delivered to site. Ride the 24 bus downtown and back and save the high dollar parking fees. We camped at San Antonio KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is San Antonio so lots to see and do if you have the time. Leave your truck or toad and take the#24 bus down town and back. about a 15 to 20 minute ride and bus stops at Commerce and Alamo and is short walk to Alamo Square. Pick it up back up at St. Marys and Market across from the Drury Hotel. You can get to the Riverwalk from Alamo Square. Stop at the city run visitor center directly across the street from the front of the Alamo. Public toilets.

Peach Country RV Park, Stonewall, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here in 2014 (see Nov. 2014 review) and one thing that has changed is the previous managers who were very good have retired and the new management team is also a very good, courteous, pleasant, team that is on top of things and easy to get along with. One other change is they keep 8 to 10 sites open for over-niters and weeklys instead of filling most sites with long term or winter folks. Friendly park and good value. $385.00 monthly including electricity. Will return next year. Extremely big rig friendly with 80 foot pull-thrus. We camped at Peach Country RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

WinStar RV Park, Thackerville, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here numerous times when passing through and it remains a large clean rv park affiliated with the casino. Pads and interior roads concrete. The sites and placement of utilities have been noted by other reviewers so no need post again. What needs to be noted are good points such as price is back at $20.00 Sunday thru Thursdays with Players card and the free senior breakfast for 50 years and over Wednesdays and Thursdays, with players cards. Cards free and buffet breakfast very good. Shuttle, 24/7 from park so get signed up, get your card enjoy the casino and park. We camped at WinStar RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Its a casino, the worlds largest under one roof with a large rv park next to it so it is what it is. Name entertainment and they are building a new coliseum an convention/entertainment theater east of the rv park what some staff said will be three times what they have now, with rumors of a new 1500 room hotel next.

Wellington KOA, Wellington, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Do not use KOA parks too often but when we travel north and south on 35 and the KTA we like this one. Owners live on site and maintain a nice clean park with utilities placed properly and work properly in the sites. Small store with rv supplies, ice, and a coffee bar. Staff friendly and competent. There is some train noise on occasion but RR was here before the park. All in all a decent clean park to stop at when in this area or traveling on the turnpike. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Stay here at least twice per year and park remains a clean, well run park maintained by the owners who live on site. Utilities placed well in the site we usually have, which is a long pull thru, and all work correctly. Table, fire ring, and trash can provided. No cable and ota poor so be aware of this. Kid friendly with playground and nice in-ground pool in season. Small store and laundry with $1.00 wash and dry. All in all a nice owner-occupied park. Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed first weekend of October for FROG rally. Park in good shape with hookups placed in middle of four sites. All utilities worked well although some folks might need longer shore power, water, and sewer hoses due to placement of utilities. Close to the colonies for shopping, eating, etc. Good place for rallies with building and tables and chairs for rally use if needed. Fire rings with wood provided and staff friendly and will lead you to your site. Good time at park and rally. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Scott County Park, Incahias Campground, Eldridge, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

First, this is the pronunciation of Incahias, Ink-a-hi-us. Mostly pull throughs with some tent sites. Sites gravel with grass between sites. Place fills up so bear that in mind.
30 amp service with good water pressure. Dump station at exit. If you are long (as we are) take your time and find your spot. There are longer spots, we had #88, that do the job. Office staff helpful and cheerful and rangers patrol day and night. Ice is sold at park office and brochures about the are available. $95.00 for 5 nights is a bargain and we will return when back this way. Lazy Acres RV Park, Center Point, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was our forth visit and it remains a well run and clean park designed by people that know rv'ing. Long, level sites with hook ups that are placed correctly and work properly. Nice store with ice, ice cream treats and an ATM, which is rare in an rv park. Easy off and on #380 and Casey's with diesel on the southbound side of exit. We only stop for one night at a time when we pass through but would recommend this park to folks for longer stays too. Good rec stuff for kids also. We camped at Lazy Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

About 200 or so sights with fhu's and when rally's are held can hold over 700 with 30 amp service and water too. Pump out service is provided by rally host. Oak Forest RV Park, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Under new management but park continues to be one of the two or three parks that are above average for the Austin area. They will be expanding and adding more sites in the future. One negative is you apparently need an HD cable box to operate your TVs on their cable system now. Check in with office before it closes during the week and see if you need one. Office closed over long 4th weekend. Other than that it's all good. We camped at Oak Forest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hwy 71 RV Park, Cedar Creek, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Our home park when we visit our children. Gated, clean, well run and managed park 10 miles east of Austin-Berstrom airport. We have stayed for a day or two and six weeks and it remains a very good park and good value if you stay weekly or monthly. Pull-through sites are long enough for motorhomes with toads and heavy duty trucks with the longer fifth wheels, which we have. The transient pull-through sites are in front just past the gated entrance and across from the swimming pool and individual shower rooms with showers, toilets, and sinks that are cleaned every morning. Utilities are placed in sites correctly and work properly. Verizon signal is spotty at times but 4G hotspot signal is strong. Good cable Time-Warner cable system with many channels. We recommend this park when you are in the Austin-Bastrop area. We camped at Hwy 71 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ten miles east of park is the city of Bastrop, TX. Historic old town and all the big stores that Austin has, i.e., HEB, Walmart, Academy, Hobby Lobby, etc, and all the fast food places. Bennies Texas Bar-B-que around 2 miles east of park. Good family run business and the largest breakfast tacos you will find for small price. Try them once and you'll be back.

San Antonio KOA, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

As others have posted, KOA of the year is a stretch considering an assortment of permanent rigs with decks, dog fences, and junk around some of them. Had fhu site that was grass with some gravel on row E. Hookups worked and cable was decent. Would ask for a 90 foot sight if we ever return. Our row short for bigger rigs and trucks and MHs and toads IMO. Two plus's are Hunt Brothers pizza very good, and bus #24 takes you right downtown for $1.20 per person. Two blocks from Alamo Square. River Town Campground, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Good for over night. Park south of Vicksburg on 61 about 5 miles from I-20. Large park but not too busy. Some permanents but sites are clean and picked up. Utilities back of sites so be sure you have enough shore power and water hose. No cable but antenna will pull some channels. Night we were there it froze and lost signal a lot. Dirt and grass sites were muddy. Could use some gravel. But we would stay again to check out this area of Mississippi. We camped at River Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
