We usually stay at Frontier Town when visiting OC but it was getting too crowded and too many golf carts so we decided to try out Castaways. All I can say is WOW! We stayed in the Island Oasis section on the water and what a view. Four fishing/crabbing piers, beach on the bay, big private sites, two pools, clean restrooms, friendly staff, close to OC reasonable prices in the camp store, and fully occupied campground but still didn't seem crowded. We were looking for negatives but couldn't find any. This is the first time we made reservation before leaving to come back. Highly recommend. Oh yea we caught more fish from the pier then we did paying high dollar for deep sea fishing in the ocean.

The camping rate is expensive but it includes a lot, for example the water park and miniature golf. We found the staff very friendly. The fishing was great off the pier, in the bay. We caught many species of fish and saw people catching crabs. The bathrooms were not great but the campground was crowded. The pool is large and clean. The camp store was well stocked. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will be returning.
