KC Campground, Milan, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

PROS: Good value. Electric and water pull-through 60 ft grass site for $30/night. Trees. Decent view. Good spacing. Poor wifi at our spot, but good wifi from office.

CONS: Staff not friendly to transient (non-seasonal) campers. Rejected delivery my Amazon package. This demonstrated lack of respect for campers. My package was labeled per the manager's instructions, but was rejected upon delivery. After paying for six nights, one would thing they would try to take good care of their guests needs.

HUGE rig-wrecking potholes in gravel entrance Sherman road, almost damaged the undercarriage of my rig. Ugly algae in pond. Mostly seasonal campers. Utilities on wrong side. We camped at KC Campground in a Motorhome.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

PROS: Clean, hard surface site with good view. CONS: Unreasonable rules: 1. Extra day use fee should be included with camping cost, not an unreasonable extra fee. 2.Would not reserve a site for us for two nights, even though a site was open. We were allowed to stay there only one night. There is a rule that two sites are not reservable, so we checked out and left the area because they couldn't assure us of a site. There were two sites available, but they would not let US reserve one until 2PM. If someone called on the phone one minute prior to our reservation, we could loose our site. The bureaucracy runneth over. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Three Rivers Resort & Guide Service, Forks, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

PROS: Low price for a 28ft motorhome. Gas and food available at high prices. Fast Wifi.

CONS: Extremely noisey and cramped. Our RV site is 8 feet from a loud refrigeration compressor. Our canopy would hit the neighbor's slide-out if fully deployed. No room for fire ring or picnic table. Not in Forks per the address, but rather 8 miles west. Pay shower. The above was not disclosed to me prior to booking. I feel like I've been hoodwinked. We camped at Three Rivers Resort & Guide Service in a Motorhome.

Tohickon Family Campground, Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Nice, helpful staff. Had trick-or-treating, a Halloween party with games for the kids. Facilities in decent condition. Covered bridge. Stream with geese. Quakertown Farmers Market and Lake Noxamixon with geo-caching near by. Cons: High price of $48 per night due to Halloween weekend. Intermittent, overloaded Wi-Fi. Litter. Sites were tightly packed. We camped at Tohickon Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Pine Grove Campground and Waterfowl Park, Chincoteague, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet. Good value. Wooded. Nice view of marsh grasses. Free hot showers. This campground needs a complete overhaul. The Wildlife Park doubles as a dump for trash and construction debris. It was disgusting. They sprayed for mosquitoes during dinner, exposing my family to chemicals. The free Wi-Fi doesn't work well at all. The paid Wi-Fi is $3/day. We camped at Pine Grove Campground and Waterfowl Park in a Motorhome.

Whispering Winds Campground, Sheffield, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Summary: Outstanding! We spent two weeks at spot 27 and loved it. PROS: Responsive staff. Our waste dump pipe clogged up. They were on top of it immediately. Babbling brook. We slept until 9:30 almost every morning , thanks to calming effect of the babbling brook 10 feet from our RV. Family atmosphere Over the 4th of July weekend, the campground had many kids of my children's ages: 8, 10 and 15. The hosts sponsored many games and activities for the kids. The campers were all friendly. CONS: Flooding. Our site was the most prone to flooding. It flooded with 12 inches of water overflowing from the creek. We had to move to another site. This area of the country seems to channel rain storm systems because, in addition to the flood, about half the time we had mud in our site due to frequent thunderstorms. If I had to plan this trip again, I would plan for the dryer months of July and August. Wi-Fi Intermittent; it disconnected about every 10 minutes. It almost seemed to be programmed to give a 10 minute timeout to each Wi-Fi user. This was quite annoying. I would rather see it slow down vs disconnecting the user. When I ran SpeedTest, it measures 800 kbps download and 60 kbps upload (poor). We camped at Whispering Winds Campground in a Motorhome.

White Oak Campground, Strasburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Cons: The sites were very small. The next site’s vehicle was 5 feet away. The WiFi only connected for 2 minutes at a time. Then your device needed to be reconnected, a one minute process. They charged my son and daughter $6 to visit for three hours. For the above-average price, I expected more space. Pros: Strasburg is a nice, quaint area: Lots of Amish around. I did like the free hot showers, camp store and friendly staff. They also had a one dollar ice cream social, where we met a lot of nice folks. We camped at White Oak Campground in a Motorhome.

Otter Creek Campground, Airville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a relatively primitive campground, is steep and surrounded by trees. Beautiful. A hike to Otter Creek is magical, with beautiful flowing water and dark woods. Kids can wade in the creek. The campground is well-run and the staff is very friendly. Electricity is reliable. No Wi-Fi is available. There is not much to do in the area except Indian Steps Museum, which is a diamond in the rough. It is worth spending several hours there. There is a nice ice cream shop about 5 miles away. The beef barbecue that they serve is of average quality. We camped at Otter Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Recompence Shore Campground, Freeport, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Beautiful serene, idyllic views of Casco Bay. Clean water and friendly staff. Cons: Pricey. Was charged $31 for non-ocean-front campsite. $46 for ocean-front sites! They overcharged us. Said it was $26 on the phone but charged us $31. One customer called the police because of a charge card issue. Stinky latrines, and no flush toilets. Farm attractions (hayride) was not available. The showers were antiquated. Pot holes aplenty. We camped at Recompence Shore Campground in a Tent.

Lazy K Campground, Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

The owner told us to park in any unoccupied site but made us move the rig after we parked it. Charged extra for two of my kids. Not family friendly as advertised. However, it is friendly to long-term campers. Nothing to do. Couldn't find the play ground nor stream as shown on the website. No WiFi at our site. The owner didn't seem happy to have a family of five staying for only one night. We camped at Lazy K Campground in a Motorhome.
