Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground, Ahmeek, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here with a 30ft Travel trailer and had Site 15 with a full hookup. However to use the hookup we would have to drive in, and then wouldn't be able to get our truck out unless we drove through other campsites if available. The sewer connection is at the front of the site so when we backed in we had to put the extended 30 foot sewer hose underneath the trailer to reach the connection. The water and electric hookups are nearer the middle of the site edge. This is a backin site (no pull thru sites) and all hookups are on the wrong side for a backin site. The staff was very polite and very helpful.

The campground is situated right on the waterfront of Lake Superior and is a beautiful spot. The road into the campground is narrow and thank goodness we didn't meet anyone coming the other way. Sites backing to the lake have water only hookups. The wifi is very sporadic to say the best.

When will campgrounds learn that many of us want to be able to go online to look at places to visit in the area, book tours, or book or reconfirmed our next campground. Good reliable wifi should be a priority. We camped at Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is very nice with concrete pads and interior roads. It is located very close to the Grand Canyon Railway hotel and train station. The staff at the check in and train station were very helpful. The train station is an easy walk from the campground and a shuttle is also availabe. Just call from the Laundry building and they pick you up. The RV Park area is very clean and garbage bins are easily accessible. The problem we had was the Wifi was useless. Very frustrating when you want to look up information about things to do etc and places to eat... not to mention confirming reservations or booking online - it was impossible. I even contacted their Internet provider as per the instructions on a flyer we were given at check in. I was told, oh yes that is normal, they don't have enough internet power and they receive phone calls all the times. The internet wasn't working much even when the park was not full. There are long freight trains which rumble by on the tracks beside the RV park, but we did not have a problem with them. We were not directly beside the tracks though... so that might bother some people. I have read complaints about the dog walk being lava rock, well they listened to the complaints and have taken out the lava rock and put in smoother gravel. The laundry is not big enough when the RV Park is full. There are about 5 washers and dryers. There is one small folding table and barely room for the two chairs in the room. $1.75 per load of washing and $1.50 to dry. My jeans and some towels were not dry after the 30 minutes but you can't put them on for just another 5 minutes you have to do a full new cycle. The building was very clean. There is parking beside the laundry area however vehicles parked in these spaces do not allow a lot of room for big rigs trying to make the turn to get in or out of the area with the sites. It was very cold and windy when we were there. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We would suggest that you also drive up to the South Rim and stop at the IMAX theatre before entering the park. The movie is a must see and gives another view and perspective of the canyon. Another side trip from the RV Park is to Walnut Canyon about 35 minutes away. The visitors center is excellent and you can walk a couple of trails. The one that goes to "the island" formation takes you to easy viewing of the early cliff dwelling native Americans and even into some of their structures.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a gem, tucked away in the mountains south of Colorado Springs a short distance. The sites are arranged in such a way that you feel like your truly away in the mountains. We had a pull thrunsite which was huge and accommodated our trailer and Truck hooked up. Beside us was a Class A motorhome which had plenty of room also. Beside where we put the trailer was a large area with a picnic table and fire ring. All the staff/owners were so very welcoming and nice and we were made to feel relaxed, at ease and that nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here for 3 nights and were sorry to leave. On Saturday night there was an Ice Cream Social in the lounge area beside the office and on Sunday morning a Waffle Bar. $1 per person for each and both were super and it was fun to meet fellow campers. From here we visited the Air Force Academy and The Garden of the Gods. We also drove to Canon (a short drive away) and took the train ride through the Royal Gorge. We recommend all these side Trips! We rated this park 20 out of 10!!! We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This RV campground is good formovernight Stop. The roads and sites are gravel with a grass area between. The checkin was fast and we found the site easily. The sites have full hookup and the area is well lit. There is a good Pub/Restaurant on site. This is a NON SMOKING park and this is strictly enforced. Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is excellent. It is easy to find and immaculately clean. The roads in the park are all concrete as are the very long pads and patio areas with each site. Almost all sites are pull thrust with full hookups. The staff are very friendly and hospitable. We were here for an overnight stop and would not hesitate to stay here again. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Casino Queen RV Park, East Saint Louis, Illinois

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very good place to stay and easy to get to from I-55/I-70 with good signage from the Exit. However it is right beside a very busy train track where many very large freight trains go by on a regular basis. Also not only do the trains go by in our case they were stopped, engines running, for an extended period of time during the night which made it hard to sleep. We were near the tracks bit if you get a site at the west end of the park it's would probably be by less noisy. The traffic and trains isn't the only downside but you get used to it. The park has its own office which you check into when you arrive. The sites ranged from smaller backin sites to long pull through sites which accommodate Class A motorhomes towing a car. There is gravel between these sites. Not far away are smaller backin sites. The park is fenced in and securityndrive through very often. The staff were very helpful and friendly and to go to the casino just call security and they will come and drive you there and back again. Excellent service. We ate at the Sevens restaurant as the Buffet is closed on Mondays. We had a very nice meal and it was big! We found this Casino RV park to be good but more expensive than others we have stayed at. It is also a non smoking Casino. It is situated across the river from the city and we look right at the Gateway Arch which looked beautiful all lit up at night with the city lights. We camped at Casino Queen RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is beautiful! The internal roads and sites are all paved and each site has easy access to full hookup facilities. The sites and mostly level and in excellent condition and there is a good space between each site. The office is large and always clean with friendly helpful staff. The campground has lovely green areas with beautiful statues of wildlife, nice to look at as you relax under the awning... The one and only negative thing is that there are far too few laundry facilities. There are two blocks with laundry factions BUT there are only 2 washers and 2'Driers in each block.... And with 186 sites this is crazy! We had to do our laundry early in the morning hours or very late at night AND the campground was nowhere near full! We camped at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Little Bear Campground , West Liberty, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The camp,is situated at exit 259 on west I-80. It is very close to I-80 - just follow the sign off the exit and pull in where you see the BP gas station as you came off the highway. The gas station is situated to allow for all sizes of campers from large motor homes to Travel Trailers. We had no problem filling up before following the sign into the campground. Although the office campground is not manned during the day there was a maintenance man onsite. Just choose your site following the instructions or pay when the owners arrive about 5pm. Nice level sites and very clean campground. Although close to the highway we slept well and were not disturbed by the truck noise. Great value for money and we would definitely overnight here again. We camped at Little Bear Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lena KOA, Lena, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The sites were easy to access and the staff were so polite and friendly. Everywhere everything was clean and tidy. The rubbish and recycle bag pickups were excellent. We stayed on the first of their October Halloween weekends and it was so much fun. We have no children of our own but really enjoyed participating in the trick or treat and seeing all the wonderful decorations other campers have out in front of their trailers and the decorations put out by the management. The rate above is the week night rate without the KOA discount the weeknight rate was $48.95 without the KOA discount. Our site faced out to the road the rest of the sites in the row faced the other way except the one at the other end. We camped at Lena KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is only a 45 minute drive to Galena, Illinois where there is lots to see and do. From Galena you can also go across the Mississippi River to Dubuque, IA which is a very interesting town. We also took a drive to Mississippi Palisades State Park. There is also a great steam train ride on some weekends in Freeport. IL about 15 minutes west of Lena.

West Palm Beach/Lion Country Safari KOA, Loxahatchee, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on a 3 night package for $155 which included entrance into the Lion Safari Park for up to 4 people for 2 days. (This deal is available from April-Dec normally but they were doing a trial extension when we stayed there - WE HOPE THEY CONTINUE THE DEAL YEAR ROUND!). We also stayed an extra night for $68. The park is very clean, tidy and the access roads are excellent. We stayed in a pull through site with full hookup. The sites are spacious and tidy with a concrete pad and picnic table. The laundry facilities were clean and tidy and everything worked. The showers were exceptionally clean and tidy also. Activities are available at the park, such as shuffleboard etc. The Lion Safari Park is excellent with a drive through to see the animals which includes use of a CD to listen to a commentary about what you are seeing as you drive through. Then there is a walk through area where you can feed the giraffes and some other animals and some rides for children and a water park area for the children. Many many animals and plants for all over the world are to be seen. We look forward to returning to the park again soon. We camped at West Palm Beach/Lion Country Safari KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Birmingham South Campground, Pelham, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very easy access to park. Clearly marked from road to show entrance. Good check in and clean and tidy office/shop/laundry/bathrooms area. Laundry was clean and tidy - Open 24 hours. The site we stayed at up near the office area was almost level and required very little leveling. The rubbish bag was picked up from outside the trailer every day. The interior road is mostly gravel and needs some attention. Some areas need some tidying up, grass cut, some concrete slab patio area repairs. It is convenient to shopping - Home Depot, grocery stores and gas stations in close proximity. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Travel Trailer.
