Lake Haven Retreat, Indianapolis, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is the fourth or fifth time I've stayed here and it is always nice. While there are not a lot of things to do here, it is VERY well maintained and clean. The 24 laundry with heat and AC is always clean, with all the machines working. The spaces are good size, with strips of grass between you and your neighbors. The water supply is clean enough to not use a filter. They have decent cable and wifi (though don't be the guy who streams netflix and ruins it for everyone). The staff is very friendly an helpful. As others have mentioned there is a fire station next door. In my two weeks there the siren did go off once, but hey, we live in a society where we have first responders that are needed. So that's just a part of life. We camped at Lake Haven Retreat in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Pilot and a Flying J just down the street. So propane and fuel for big rigs is close by. There are also several fast food places around them. In the other direction a few miles is a 24 hour Kroger.

Detroit Greenfield RV Park, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I can not say enough bad about my experience here. From the rude staff that booked my reservation, to the site barely big enough for my rig even though they asked how big it is when I made the reservation, to the complete lack of hospitality during my stay, the experience was horrible. I stayed there for two weeks while working in the area. My car could not fit behind my RV and I constantly had to move it so people could get in and out of spots near me with their rigs. The staff was not helpful at all and said that my 36' motor home and Honda should fit. That was not physically possible. Low hanging branches also scratched my roof. The showers were always filthy, the water was heavily chlorinated, only cold water as an option in the laundromat where they refuse to turn on the AC in August. I will never stay there again. We camped at Detroit Greenfield RV Park in a Motorhome.

Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA, Streetsboro, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Not happy for two main reasons. First, most sites in the long term section are very unlevel. My RV is only 27', and I had to walk to six different sites before finding one that would work. Even then, my front wheels left the ground once I put my jacks down. Secondly, even though the website says they have cable, and I confirmed it when I made my reservation, it is not available in long term sites. I travel most of the year for work and always ask about cable and internet. Also, most of the staff is very young. While very pleasant, most of them could not answer a question or actually solve a problem without radioing for help. We camped at Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA in a Motorhome.

West Jupiter Camping Resort, Jupiter, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground that is well maintained. The grounds are kept very clean, the pool was heated, and the security gate kept things quiet at night. They have a LOT of planned activities and there is always something to do. They usually had some kind of party going on Friday nights, but always ended right at 10:30 which was the beginning of their posted quiet time, which was nice. They had a Neil Diamond impersonator, and many other outside acts come in while I was there. Most sites are concrete, but I was on one of the few grass spots. I enjoyed my time there. That being said, their water is very bad. I was warned by other campers to use the laundromat in town unless I wanted rust stains on my clothes. The water is only suitable to shower and do dishes. Even with my advanced water filter, I bought bottled water to drink and cook with. This was not a huge problem, just something to be aware of. I would still gladly stay there again. We camped at West Jupiter Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Midland RV Campground, Midland, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

I had a really nice stay here, regardless of the weather. If you've been to West Texas in June, you know it is hot and dry. This campsite did offer some spaces with trees, of which I was very lucky to get one of since I am in a 30' or less RV. The trees are in the older section of the park, so the spaces with the most shade can not accommodate big rigs. They are in the process of re-wiring the spaces which is good because they had been experiencing brown outs since they expanded. That was no longer a problem when I left. I stayed there for 11 weeks and would go back. They have a nice laundry facility, a gym, free wi-fi and cable. We camped at Midland RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Plantation Place RV Park, Sunnyvale, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2013 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Nothing really to do here. It is a gravel campsite with hook-ups and a little laundry facility. Both are kept clean but there is nothing else to this park. I was there for five weeks and never met a staff person, but did speak to them on the phone and they were very helpful. It's a great place to stay if you are in the are for other things, but the dust and lack of shade left something to be desired. I'm glad that I was here in the winter months, as it would be unbearable in the Texas summer heat. The nightly rate listed of $26 is based on the weekly rate of $185. We camped at Plantation Place RV Park in a Motorhome.
