Delta Lake State Park, Rome, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great area, unfortunately the restrooms / showers need updating badly. They are as clean as you can get them but not as nice as most of the other State Parks. The Dump station is really awful!!! It's on a SMALL dirt road that is one big puddle if it's raining. It's really too bad because the sites are large and wooded.

The beach area is beautiful and there are playgrounds galore! This could be a "premier park" if NYS would invest a few dollars in updating. The staff is very friendly and, accommodating. Wood is available at the check-in and, there is a NICE store at the beach that has supplies, good food and ice cream at a reasonable price.

We had the fried Haddock dinner for $10.95 and it was very tasty!

I believe ALL the sites have power and they are all spacious. The waterfront sites are GREAT!

Book early: this campground is 10 minutes from Rome, N.Y. and is quite busy in peak season. Even though the campground is quite near a big city, you feel you are in the country...quiet and peaceful! We camped at Delta Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

One of the cleanest places we've ever seen.! Great Facility, large showers, very clean restrooms, a laundry room, a fish cleaning station and more. All with great views of the St Lawrence Seaway from EVERY site. Even if you are not right ON the water.! Nice General store 100 yards outside the gate. Lots to do nearby. Don't miss the Boldt Castle Cruise... take the 2 nation tour, its the best. Highly recommend.! We camped at Kring Point State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Alexandria Bay has lots of shops and restaurants. A bit further is Clayton which also has many quaint shops. There is a very nice diner just West of Alexandria Bay on Route 12 (right side) that has excellent food at a very reasonable price. I think it was called the Kountry Kottage.

Coles Creek State Park, Waddington, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The Park is VERY well maintained and, most sites have at least a view of the St. Lawrence Seaway. MANY of the sites are right ON the water. You can relax and, watch the big ocean going ships cruise up and, down the river. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean with LARGE showers.! Great fishing in the river if you have a boat and, there's several launch sites within a mile. Free one with trailer parking just west of the campsite. If you are a golfer don't miss the Massena Country Club. It's about a 20 minute drive East. Also the Eisenhower Locks are close by and interesting. The ONLY drawback is there's NOT a lot of shade. We camped at Coles Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

All the sites are huge...most are twice as big as their competitors. The campground is scenic and has easy access to all the surrounding attractions. To say the entire place is spotless is somewhat of an understatement! The owner and his entire staff seemingly make it their "mission in life" to make sure you are having a good time. If you are going to the Mt. Rushmore area you would be hard pressed to find another campground that is comparable to this one. I would certainly rate this as one of the top 10 in the USA ! We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Only thirteen miles from the West entrance to the park, but away from the hustle and bustle of the town of West Yellowstone. Large campsites and nice cabins. Very clean showers, restrooms and immaculate grounds. Absolutely stunning views from every site. The managers and entire staff make you feel right at home. If you are in the area you would be remiss not to stay at this resort...it's awesome ! We camped at Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.
