Date of Stay: July, 2013
We stayed here from July 18 - 21, during the most humid and hottest weekends this summer in a pop-up without air conditioning. The staff was great. After hearing that I was by myself with a three-year-old (my husband was called away on an emergency last minute), they offered assistance to set up my camper. They also pointed out the air conditioned rooms available while they were open in case we needed to get out of the heat. They were very caring which almost brought me to tears. It was wonderful. I did manage to set up camp by myself but I did notice security did come by to check on me. We went out the next day to tour Gettysburg. It was nice that the campground was so close to the historical area. It only took us 5-10 minutes to get to the National Park Visitor Center. We did not return to the campground until evening time. We spent the remained of our night in our camper due to the downpour. Saturday, we spent our day at the campground. My son and I enjoyed the ceramics that morning. There were other activities that day but we did not partake in those. It was nice to know there were many activities to do there. We did use the swimming pool, which was adequate. Sunday was our last day so all we did was pack up and leave. I have never been to this campground before so I took a chance when I reserved our site (#141). I was a little disappointed. Our street of sites were all stone covered and lined out in spray paint. There was another road that was more separated with grass. All the sites in the center (basic sites) were cramped. Their site map is deceiving in this area. Although the area is very shaded, some may find it difficult to back up a camper into some of the sites due to trees. The bathrooms were clean. They could use an update but were not in disrepair. The playground was great! My son enjoyed that and the pool. He wanted to do miniature golf but I did not want to play in the tremendous heat as the miniature golf course has no shade. The Wi-Fi is great!! It only went out when the storm rolled in. Overall, we had a good time and a pleasant stay. I would recommend this campground to friends and would stay here again.

I gave 8 out of 10 because of two issues. The water out of the spigots that are around the loops is slightly brown. Bring your own drinking water. One shower only put out cold water in our loop. The other shower was nice and hot! Otherwise, this is a great camping area. You are very in touch with nature. It is very shady. The restrooms were clean. The nature center was nice. People there were very informative. It was too cold to swim so I'm not sure what the pool is like. My three year old loved the playgrounds and walking around. My parents visited and they were impressed as well. I would definitely visit again. My parents said they would even stay in one of the cabins.
