Scenic Canyon RV Park, Cloudcroft, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park, plenty of space, very quiet, 45 yr olds and up only, don't seem to be any rules, didn't seem to be a need for them. Dogs run free. Wi-fi was the absolute best we have ever encountered in an RV park. Fast and consistent. No ATT phone service until you get about 2 miles from Cloudcroft. We would stay here again. We camped at Scenic Canyon RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lots of hiking trails in the area. The scenic drive to Sunspot Observatory is well worth the time. About an hour to Ruidoso.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park, Mineral Wells, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here when there weren't many other campers so it was relatively quiet and calm. There is a 30 am campground and a 50 amp campground. The 30 amp, Plateau, appeared to have sites with more space around them. My husband used the showers and said there was no privacy in the dressing area. Wi-fi was spotty and irregular even tho we were two sites away from the tower at the restroom. My ATT iphone didn't work at all. My husband was able to call with his simple phone. Due to heavy rain the day before we arrived there was a bit of erosion on the spur to the Bike Trailway and the mixed use trail was closed. However, the two lakeside trails were fine and provided some interesting variety. This is a very pleasant park, with a number of sites on the water and shade trees at the sites. We camped at Lake Mineral Wells State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice store and bait shop on the lake in an interesting old stone house. Mineral Wells is two miles away. The Trailway for hiking an biking on an old railway line is 20 miles long, going from MIneral Wells to Weatherford, with a spur from the park.

Pancho Villa State Park, Columbus, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night on the way home. The park is built in the former army camp from 1916 when Pancho Villa invaded the area. There is lots of space around each site, with interesting desert plants around. The site was level and we did not have to unhook. At&t service was spotty. No wi-fi. There are only 6 reservable sites but there are others with hookups that are not. There seemed to be plenty available. We camped at Pancho Villa State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Picacho Peak State Park, Picacho, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed several times and always had positive experiences. The sites are spread out in the desert vegetation with lots of space between. There are some pull-throughs with views of the mountains and some back-ins. They tend to be level. There is some highway noise but not enough to be a problem. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Traveler RV Park, Palm Springs, California

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Mostly long term winter visitors, with some short term. Street and sites are paved and level, but close, with tall hedges between for privacy. Backing in can be awkward. Friendly neighbors. For being so close in, street noise was minimal. We stayed here a week.

The WiFi is practically non-existent at this park, but you can use Time Warner WiFi if you have an account at home. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
