Lake Murphysboro State Park, Murphysboro, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground, but very nice. Typical State Park. Lots of trees. Even sites. One spigot for water. And you'll need a loooong hose for reaching it. Families and dogs everywhere. Great for walking and there is a large grassy area for the kids to play on as well as a playground. Beautiful views of the lake. Bathrooms were filthy. Camphost said he is not the one responsible for cleaning them. We camped at Lake Murphysboro State Park in a Motorhome.

Spring Hill Campground, Kokomo, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Oh my gosh... Pulling in, we wondered "What the heck are we doing?" But we're desperate for electric, as we had been boondocking in the heat for two weeks. It was 95* when we pulled in!! A lot of seasonal RVers. A lot. It appeared to be a "neighborhood" of RVs, Campers, etc... We arrived, hooked up, turned on the air and stayed indoors that first day. We were parked at the first pull through next to the grassy area. Very level. Plenty of room. There was water. But no sewer. We have a 36' Class A and were able to dump just fine. The next day we sat outside and there was a fish fry, which we didn't attend, but one of the seasonal campers bought over a plate. They were also doing a CornHole Tournament, and after talking to a few of the seasonals, we entered. What fun we had!!! The owners, Ron and Julie were a blast, and they and a few other people came over to our site afterwards and hung out. If you are an uppity, stuck up person, this place is not for you. If you like a neighborly feel, where you can interact with others, drink a cocktail around the fire, then it's perfect. We camped at Spring Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG), Davenport, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Oh wow! We were desperate for a place to stay, as it was July 3rd. But we found ourselves at the available, now called Crazy Acres. Great people! We pulled into our site, hooked up, and sat outside as the kids enjoyed a tractor ride around the campground. The sites were grass! Yay! And had nice clean picnic tables, and fire rings! I kid you not.. you never felt like you had to chase someone down or go to the office to find someone. The staff was always visible. I really do hope this park succeeds with these new owners. (I think our site was 56) We camped at Crazy Acres CG at Beaver Spring Lake (formerly Beaver Spring Lake CG) in a Motorhome.

Wolf's Den Family Campground, East Haddam, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Pulling into the park, we thought "Wow!" This is going to be great. After checking in, giving the girl the dimensions of our RV, we went to our site. It was a back in. Great for a 28' or less. We have a 36'. No way would we fit in this spot. Went to the office to let them know the site was way to small. They told us to find a spot to our liking and let them know which one. There was on open grass field with trees and pull thrus. Nope. Can't use those. As those are for "seasonal" Campers. Hmmmm.. Looking around, there seemed to be A LOT of seasonal or stationary campers. We finally found a spot that we struggled with to level out. Even then we weren't quite level. We actually witnessed someone in a Fifth Wheel struggle for almost an hour to get into his site. This park definitely caters to the summer family vacationers. We camped at Wolf's Den Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Jugtown Mountain Campsites, Asbury, New Jersey

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

When we pulled up, we were taken aback, because it looked like a trailer sale lot. Figured since we were here for two nights, it wouldn't be an issue. Very friendly in the office! The woman in the office wrote all the train schedules for NY for us. We drove through, and found our spot. Looked like some long term residents. Very quiet. We camped at Jugtown Mountain Campsites in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Some low hanging branches. Awkward dump station. Had to back in. If they move some trailers from the back lot, people could pull around and dump. You're 60 miles from NYC. Definitely worth the trip.

Otter Creek Campground, Airville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Great check in! Very helpful and informative. Gave us brochures, maps, etc... Looked like a smaller version of a State Park. Windy steep hills to get to the park, so if you're pulling a tow vehicle, you may want to unhook. If you want to use the bathhouse, bring coins. We camped at Otter Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek Resort, Greenville, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The campground reminded me of a State Park. Lots of trees and places to walk. Two separate campgrounds. There are quite a few full time residents here, but they do keep there site clean. Interesting, that's for sure. Great beach area. A lot of people zipping around on their golf carts. We camped at Stoney Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Sugar Hollow Campground, Bristol, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park. Driving in was a bit confusing, as there weren't any signs directing you to the campground. You just continue past the parking lot where the baseball fields are. And keep going. Up. The roads are paved until a certain point. After that it is a bit rough going if you're in a large rig. We were in a 36' Class A with a tow vehicle and it was slow going. Definitely drop your tow vehicle coming and going. If you park near the playground, there is a woman living in her trailer there with her dogs. That barks. And it echoes. We spoke to her and she was oblivious. Spoke then to the Ranger and he said that it wasn't "quiet hours" yet and we could move. They were still disturbing the peace and you could hear the barking throughout the park. We had planned to stay another night, but decided not to after that. It was our understanding that this is a "first come first serve" campground, yet we were told that someone had paid and reserved the spot we were in for the weekend. The sites are spacious with fire pits and a table. No doubt about it, this is a beautiful park. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Baileyton RV Park, Greeneville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Nice clean park. Very clean. Very quiet. Large grass area for dogs and a golfing range. Sites are close together. We could hear our neighbor walking in their RV. Fantastic pool, which we couldn't wait to use. Except it was taken over by 3 young girls and their parents playing Marco Polo and other pool games. Come to find out that they weren't even staying at the Park! They pay $2.50 to use the pool. They said if the park isn't full they can use the pool. Well, if RVers see kids in the pool, they won't go in the pool. After a long travel day, we wanted to cool off and enjoy the pool. But the neighborhood kids used it for 4 hrs. Great touches throughout the park. We camped at Baileyton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sherman Oaks Campground, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Pulled into the middle of the RV park, as every site that had trees were taken by people living in the RV's/Trailers, etc.. Sites are so very close together, even though there was NO ONE there, except those living there. Be prepared to have no shade. There was a pool, but the park is run down, and we weren't even going to chance it. We camped at Sherman Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Desoto Caverns Park, Childersburg, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

If you have children, this place is perfect. If you want a nice quiet time, it isnt for you. By 9:30 am, 5 school buses were here for a field trip. Small clean campground. Showed up at 5:20pm, the open sign was on, but no one was there. Our site, #15, had only 20amp service, which meant we could not run the air conditioning in the Alabama heat. No other site could accommodate the length of our motorhome. If you have laundry to do, there is only one washer and one dryer. Make sure you have change. The change machine does not work. Bring earplugs and have a fan if you sleep past 8am, because 150 kids is loud. We camped at Desoto Caverns Park in a Motorhome.

Turtle Bayou, Wallisville, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a stop over to Louisiana. Parked across from office. Off the I-10, which was convenient, traffic noise which was expected. Not expected? The 6 cats that I counted, and the one that sprayed on our bag of charcoal. Took a shower and had cockroaches visit me in there! No shower curtain in that shower. Bathroom is on light sensor. Took a shower, in the stall that had a curtain,on the morning we left. Water felt like needles hitting me. Then the lights went out!!! Had to venture out to the open area of the bathroom to get the lights back on. Wound up rinsing my hair in a sink, because I was in the middle of washing my hair. I'm just glad I didn't fall in the dark! Would've voiced my concerns to mgt, but waited till 9:30 and no one was there, and we had to be in the road. We camped at Turtle Bayou in a Motorhome.
