Travelers Campground, Alachua, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful, huge RV park just north of Gainesville, FL. The design showed much thought and care. There were paved rows with RV spots assigned to spaces along each row. Roads in between the rows and cross roads for easy exit. Good lighting. The dog parks were huge fenced fields with agility equipment. There were farm animals in a nearby fenced area and not sure but there may have been field for those traveling with horses. Lots of shade. This is a very large property and we were not near the office. Suggest bringing food with you if not going out to eat. This is a great quiet location, not far from 75 and the University of Florida or other popular areas nearby. Great place to stay for several days. We camped at Travelers Campground in a Motorhome.

Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground, Yuma, Tennessee

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, country setting. Great location halfway between Memphis and Nashville. Sites had concrete pads and spaced far apart. Very clean. There is no dog park but plenty of land to walk around including a pond with ducks and seating. Farm with views of cows behind RV park. Not too far from highway. There are restaurants near the interstate entrances but recommended to bring food with you. Just a great place to relax. Cable very good, WiFi average. We camped at Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Historic area with Civil War era battlefield. If we had the time, we would have visited. The owners have taken great pride in this campground. Really enjoyed the pastoral setting after long, long journey from Arizona to Florida. The pictures are the website are accurate . Hope to stay there again on next big trip out west.

Lovely, shady KOA with lots of concrete paved sites. Some sites had gravel. Our site right by dog park with lots of agility equipment. RV park clean with friendly, attentive staff. Beautifully decorated for Halloween. Near restaurants and shopping in Manchester. Convenient for travel near I-75. We camped at Manchester KOA in a Motorhome.

Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Average KOA. Sites spaced apart alright with packed dirt surfaces and grass between sites but park overall lacked appeal. There was shade. The staff members were pleasant and helpful. We had to exit the park and turn around in a parking lot nearby to re- enter to the propane filling station near the office. The dog park was ok with lots of leaves and shade. A little muddy. Convenient one night stay. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Motorhome.

Hot Springs National Park KOA, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, woodsy above average appear for a KOA. The terraced sites were pleasing and afforded more privacy than many KOAs where sites right next to one another. The dog park had a rustic feel with a wood fence. The fence was very low so if you bring a large dog that likes to jump, be careful. The dog park was muddy and part of fence splintered. The staff fixed it right away. The staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed staying here. Not too far from the Hot Springs NP which was fascinating with its restored bathhouses, and lovely town with restaurants. This RV park highly recommended. Hoping dog park fence redone with higher fence, mud covered with gravel or grass. We camped at Hot Springs National Park KOA in a Motorhome.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

First stay at RV park behind a casino. Spotless, well designed concrete park. Gravel between sites with pretty desert type landscaping. Well lit. Two dog parks that were spotless and spacious. Laundry room offered new machines and cheap. Shuttle available to take folks to casino. The restaurant was very good. Only negative was the desert plants inside the dog park were a real nuisance. Poodle fur attracted the flowers. Took hours to brush out. Hoping owners remove the bushes inside the dog park. Great for stays to/from ALBUQUERQUE. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean, pleasant RV park convenient for trips to the Grand Canyon NP. The entire RV park is concrete with gravel between the sites. Well lit. Walking distance to Williams, and a great Safeway supermarket 2 blocks away. There is a dog kennel behind the office for those taking the train up to the park. Looked alright but we did not leave our puppy there. No dog park but a narrrow area to walk dog. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Mediocre KOA. Grounds messy and muddy. The dog park was muddy with poop everywhere. The waste can was overflowing with bags of poop. Office staff came and cleaned up after alerted to unsatisfactory condition. On the positive side, the steak dinners cooked near the office were tasty, and the location very convenient to the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert National Park. We camped at Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA, Bernalillo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyable stay. Sites a little close but pleasant. Lots of gravel, no sand spurs. There is a bar/ restaurant at end of RV park with a gate so no car needed to access it. The 4 dog parks were great. One closest to us fenced, grass with agility equipment and adjacent to it was one with lower fence for smaller dogs. Had trouble with RV tires leaving, and staff member fixed problem on site. Two more dog parks with mock oil well, more agility equipment. A dog lovers dream if it's humans choose to stay here. Very convenient to Bernadillo, great shopping, restaurants, and outstanding dog day care nearby, Canine Country Club. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Motorhome.

Las Vegas, New Mexico KOA, Las Vegas, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely area off 25. New owner trying very hard to America's improvements. Most sites Not level. Most rigs had to use blocks, 2x6 wood to place under jacks. No cable. Laundry excellent. Staff very friendly. Sand spurs everywhere around sites and on way to dog park. Owner filled in dog park with soft, white, cedar shavings like that used in hamster cage. The dog park was large, fenced area down a hill with steps. No handrail for safety. Lots of nasty sand spurs in area from steps to dog park gate also. Bring dog boots to protect paws, socks and tweezers if you have a dog. Low rating is for the terrain. Hoping new owners just puts gravel everywhere with paved sites to minimize the sand spurs. We camped at Las Vegas, New Mexico KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visited Fort Union National Monument, about half hour north of Las Vegas. Fascinating tours, self guided walks. Roadrunner Restaurant at Golf Club has outdoor seating and good food. Veterans Park across from golf club has grass to walk dog. Very little grass in New Mexico so this park while not huge was a great discovery. Walmart in town decent and Lowe's Supermarket has great burgers.

Tucumcari KOA, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Great stop between Amarillo and Albuquerque. Easy access, comfortable sites, good utilities, and good breakfast food. Dog park next to office nice but very, very small, fenced area with some grass. Wish they offered bigger dog park. Ore sites were being added in back of RV park so hoping they add second dog park. That is reason why excellent not chosen. Otherwise, good, safe, clean overnight stop without sand spurs on ground. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Motorhome.

Little Rock North / Jct. I-40 KOA, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Positive was Blue Bell ice cream dairy bar attached to store. Laundry area fine. Site was okay, but the thorny rose bushes near the utilities made hook ups challenging. Two dog parks - one a small, triangle shaped fenced area but the fence along back section is so low, a standard poodle like mine that is taller than the fence. Figured out quickly that she could jump over it into the adjoining forested area. Not safe so we left dog park promptly. Other dog park in back, with a higher fence had a broken gate and was secured by rubber band. Very dirty, not pleasant to use. There was a chestnut tree and my dog tried to pick up and chew chestnuts on ground. When I shared concerns with KOA employee, he did not seem interested. Hoping owners will take note and give these issues attention because the location for travel out west on I-40 very convenient. Wonderful ice cream shop had Blue Bell ice cream. We camped at Little Rock North / Jct. I-40 KOA in a Motorhome.

Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Was very impressed by the convenience offered by a "KOA Journey." Wish there were more like this. Right off I-75 and easy to pull in to hook up. Right off 75 yet it felt quiet. Very clean and neat. Large, fenced and grassy dog park plus other dog walk areas. About 45 miles north of Marietta. Far away enough for a quiet, restful stop just outside Atlanta area. Restrooms and showers had colorful walls (red) and spotless. We camped at Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA in a Motorhome.
