Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second trip to Petit Jean State Park. The first time, we stayed right on the lake (Loop C, I think). Those were amazing sites. This time we were across the road in loop B. Sites were OK, but not nearly as nice as being on the lake. We had a harder time than usual getting level and the water/electric were on opposite sides of the site. We were not able to use the Dish (too many trees), but there were a handful of OTA channels. AT&T cell worked fine, Sprint did not. Other than that, there are a lot of great hikes and bike rides you can take in this park. You can also go up to the lodge (1.5 mile walk) for a nice breakfast in the morning! We camped at Petit Jean State Park in a Motorhome.

DeGray Lake Resort State Park, Bismarck, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice Lake and Campground just a short distance from I-30. The lake is huge and there were a number of nice hiking trails. You can also walk/bike to the Lodge, where they have a restaurant onsite. Our site had easy walking access to the lake and we really enjoyed the sunrise and sunset. Because of the trees, we were not able to hook up the Dish, and there were only a couple OTA channels available - all the more reason to enjoy the hiking. Campsites had a lot of space between them and only a little bit of leveling was needed. We camped at DeGray Lake Resort State Park in a Motorhome.

Mount Magazine State Park, Paris, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

First time to Mt Magazine State Park. This is the highest point in Arkansas. There is a ~8 mile road that climbs the mountain. We have a 26' Motorhome and everything was fine - though you had to go slow around the hairpin turns. There are not very many campsites (maybe 20), but they all seem well spaced out. There are a lot of trees that make Satellite difficult, but we did get a good amount of OTA channels. ATT service was fine, Sprint was bad. There are a number of nice hiking trails. Once is a paved road right next to the campground that has tremedous views of the River Valley. It was very pretty when we were there are the leaves where changing in the Fall. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Motorhome.

Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights in the Madison Campground, space E176. Site was pretty level and had no hookups. There was also no OTA channels and little cell coverage. This is a great campground for a Yellowstone Home Base. We were ~30 minutes from Old Faithful, Norris Geyser Basin and the city of West Yellowstone. We ended up renting a car at the W Yellowstone Aiprot so we could just leave our Motorhome set up the entire time. There is also a nice hike right out of the Campground along the Madison River where you can enjoy some wildlife and watch Fly Fishermen. Dogs are only allowed on the pavement - not a problem as it is a huge campground with plenty of loops to walk around. Convenient Dish Washing stations are provided at the restrooms that help keep down on water use in the RV. We camped at Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Sink Canyon State Park, Lander, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Great State Park Campground off the beaten path in Lander, WY. Sites have no hook ups, but most back up to the Sinks River. There are not very many sites, and it is first come, first served. Payment is made in an envelope at a pay station. We have a 25' Motorhome, not sure if anything much bigger would fit. There is an awesome trail down to a Visitor Center that explains how the Sinks/Rise of the River works. There is also a nice pond at the "Rise" where there are 100+ huge trout (no fishing allowed, but real nice to watch). Trail is only 1.5 miles, but has a lot of elevation change. There is also a real neat swinging bridge that crosses the river near the campground. We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Curt Gowdy State Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in Curt Gowdy State Park for two nights on a trip up to Yellowstone. Reservations were made on line and we were able to pick out our campsite at that time. Park staff was very friendly and everything was just fine. Our site had easy lake access and there are a number of nice hiking and biking trails around the two lakes in the Park. Site had electric and water and was pretty level. AT&T Cell service was adequate and there were a few OTA channels from Cheyenne. We stayed in site 25 in the Tumbleweeds campground. We camped at Curt Gowdy State Park in a Motorhome.

Wilson State Park, Wilson, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in Big Bluestem #12. Site was right on the water with electric and water. Site was adequately level. Park has a good hiking trail up into the hills and we were able to take a nice bike ride across the dam to the other Campground. It was mid week, and everything was pretty quiet. Online Reservations worked fine and we were able to pick out our site ahead of time with no problems. The park works well for a 1-2 day stay - we will stay here again when we are passing through. We camped at Wilson State Park in a Motorhome.

Ray Roberts State Park Isle du Bois Unit, Pilot Point, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We always enjoy a weekend at Ray Roberts Lake State Park. We had not been here for a while due to flooding, but on our recent trip, it looks like everything is back in order. We stayed in space 135 - where we were able to walk down a slight slope to the shoreline. Lots are spacious and mostly shady. Site surface was asphalt and featured a fire ring and picnic table. Staff was very helpful. We camped at Ray Roberts State Park Isle du Bois Unit in a Motorhome.

Inks Lake State Park, Burnet, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

First time visiting Inks Lake SP. You can get a discount on the stated price if you have a Texas State Park pass. Our site was on the lake with easy access to the shoreline. The trade off is that there was not much separating the sites. If you want more privacy, the sites away from the shore looked good. We had good Satellite and AT&T service. There are a number of nice hiking trails in the park. Nearby, you can visit Longhorn Caverns State Park (6 miles away) and Enchanted Rock (50 Miles). We camped at Inks Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Seminole Canyon State Park, Comstock, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park all the way on the Texas/Mexico Border. Our site had good satellite service and good AT&T cell service. Great hiking trails that you can also navigate with bikes. Also recommend taking the guided tour down the the Petroglyphs. It was a $5 per person fee, but very informative. You cannot visit the site without being on the tour. They are also in process of building a bird blind. Most of the shade trees are pretty short - I would think it would be pretty toasty in the summer - but great in the Late Fall/Winter/Early Spring. We camped at Seminole Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Brownwood State Park, Brownwood, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

First time to Lake Brownwood State Park. You can get a discount off the stated price if you have a Texas State Park pass. Our site (Space 4) had good Satellite service, good OTA channels and good AT&T cell service. There are some nice hiking trails in the park some real nice old Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) buildings. Trails cover both shoreline and forest. Only watch out would be to stay up from the waters edge if there is a big storm coming! We camped at Lake Brownwood State Park in a Motorhome.

South Llano River State Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Second time staying at SLR State Park. Park star. Was very friendly and check in was easy. Site was pretty level - 1 block needed on front tires. Space 21 is the most private in the park, but all sites looked good to me. There are a few very nice hiking trails, both down to the river and into the hills. There are also 4 very nice Bird Blinds that allow good wildlife viewing. We camped at South Llano River State Park in a Motorhome.

Palmetto State Park, Gonzales, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

First Time at Palmetto State Park. This is a pretty Small State Park with one main loop for RV's. We stayed space 19 and parked front in because of a better view. Spaces are not too tight and facilities were very clean. There is a great view of the San Marcos River less than 100 yards away and very nice hiking trails through the park. Will definitely stay here again. We camped at Palmetto State Park in a Motorhome.

Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Campground in a great location within Yellowstone National Park. Thirty minutes from Old Faithful and Norris Geyser Basin and 15 minutes from the city of West Yellowstone, MT. No hookups, but water and dump station available within campground. Easy walk down to the Madison River, where there were plenty of Bison and Elk to observe. We stayed in space F227 which was a pull through site with a great view of the mountains. Dogs need to stay on the pavement and off trails, but there was plenty of places to walk. Spaces appeared well spread out and check in process was not as bad as some earlier postings We camped at Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.
