Indian Boundary Campground, Tellico Plains, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was our favorite park on a recent 3 week trip. It is 30 minutes up in the hills from Tellico Plains. We stayed in space 29, which was electric only. There was a water spigot right across from us. The site was pretty level and well spaced from the others. There was a great 3 mile hike or bike loop around the lake that we did 1-2 times per day. We had no cell service, no OTA and no DISH. We were able to get connected when we drove down to Tellico Plains. We rented a car in Athens, TN (60 minutes away). CG is on the Cherehala Skyway - a 40 mile road that goes through the Cherokee National Forest. We camped at Indian Boundary Campground in a Motorhome.

On the way down the Mountain to Tellico Plains, you can turn left and head to the Bald River Falls. It is ~15 minutes from the main road but well worth the trip!

High Falls State Park, Jackson, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice state park just a few minutes from the Freeway. We were there only one night - in space 16 which backed up to the River. There was no OTA, no DISH and poor cell. There is a nice hike on the Tranquility Trail that goes through the forest and gets you access to the cool waterfalls on the river. Park was nice for a one night stop over, but seemed a little dated for a longer stay. A plus was how easy it was to get to/from the Freeway. There was also a Flying J one exit North. We camped at High Falls State Park in a Motorhome.

Cumberland Mountain State Park, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park about 20 minutes from I-40. We stayed in Area #1, site #14. It was FHU, poor OTA, OK cell and no DISH. Site was pretty level. There is a beautiful stone bridge that spans a lake and a nice 2.5 mile hiking trail around the lake. There is a restaurant in the CG that looked crowded - but we did not go. We camped at Cumberland Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Near the Ranger Station, there is a neat Birds of Prey Aviary where you can see some owls, hawks and kestrels that have been rescued. A nice touch!

Village Creek State Park, Wynne, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We got in late and had to leave pretty early the next morning. What we were able to see, we liked. We stayed in space 47 - a FHU Pull through site that was within 50 yards of the lake. There looked to be nice hikes in our campground, as well as at the Ranger Station. OTA was OK, Cell coverage was poor and there were too many trees for the DISH. Lots of space between sites. CG is a decent drive from I-40, but worth the trip. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed two nights in space 42. A FHU Pull through site near the front of the park. OTA and Cell was fine, and there was some cable provided (DISH did not work due to trees). Plenty of nice hikes and bike rides through the Spanish Moss covered trees and out to the Marshes. Good bird watching. There is also a nice interpretive nature center with a great birding window. Only ding is their refusal to let anyone check in even a little early. We got there 30 minutes early and had to wait around... We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Anastasia State Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Great park with an easy walk to the Beach. We were in site 127 - Electric and Water. Nice privacy of bushes and trees between the sites. Some OTA channels, OK cell and no DISH. Each bath house has laundry available. In addition to beach walks, there is another nice hiking trail through a forest in the central campground. We had some rain - otherwise we would have rode on the beach and visited a cool looking old lighthouse. We will be back. We camped at Anastasia State Park in a Motorhome.

Martin Dies JR. State Park, Jasper, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Only spent one night here on this trip. Will definitely come back for a longer stay. We were in space 213 - which had electric and water. The site backed up to the lake. OTA was limited, and we could not get any DISH channels due to trees (other sites were able to). ATT worked fine, but no Sprint. Staff at station were super helpful and there were plenty of hikes available. We camped at Martin Dies JR. State Park in a Motorhome.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $145.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 4 nights at Fort Wilderness Campsites. We were in the Premium area - site 504. Campground was full over the weekend, but maybe 2/3 full during the week. Transportation was easy within the Campground and to the Theme Parks. We had good OTA reception and cable was also provided. Cell phones worked fine and there was also WIFI in the Campground. It rained a bunch when we were there, so we did not get out much - but it was fun each evening to walk down to the boat launch and watch the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. All personnel were super friendly and helpful. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Gulf State Park Campground, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a couple nights mid week, prior to Memorial Day. We stayed in space 265. A FHU site that backed up to the lake. There was nice spacing between the sites and we were able to get Satellite working with no problem. Cell coverage was fine. Great bike riding campground. We rode to the pier, around a couple lakes and through the forest. Also a nice Nature Center, with some live Raptors, to take in. We camped at Gulf State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second trip to Petit Jean State Park. The first time, we stayed right on the lake (Loop C, I think). Those were amazing sites. This time we were across the road in loop B. Sites were OK, but not nearly as nice as being on the lake. We had a harder time than usual getting level and the water/electric were on opposite sides of the site. We were not able to use the Dish (too many trees), but there were a handful of OTA channels. AT&T cell worked fine, Sprint did not. Other than that, there are a lot of great hikes and bike rides you can take in this park. You can also go up to the lodge (1.5 mile walk) for a nice breakfast in the morning! We camped at Petit Jean State Park in a Motorhome.

DeGray Lake Resort State Park, Bismarck, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice Lake and Campground just a short distance from I-30. The lake is huge and there were a number of nice hiking trails. You can also walk/bike to the Lodge, where they have a restaurant onsite. Our site had easy walking access to the lake and we really enjoyed the sunrise and sunset. Because of the trees, we were not able to hook up the Dish, and there were only a couple OTA channels available - all the more reason to enjoy the hiking. Campsites had a lot of space between them and only a little bit of leveling was needed. We camped at DeGray Lake Resort State Park in a Motorhome.

Mount Magazine State Park, Paris, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

First time to Mt Magazine State Park. This is the highest point in Arkansas. There is a ~8 mile road that climbs the mountain. We have a 26' Motorhome and everything was fine - though you had to go slow around the hairpin turns. There are not very many campsites (maybe 20), but they all seem well spaced out. There are a lot of trees that make Satellite difficult, but we did get a good amount of OTA channels. ATT service was fine, Sprint was bad. There are a number of nice hiking trails. Once is a paved road right next to the campground that has tremedous views of the River Valley. It was very pretty when we were there are the leaves where changing in the Fall. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Motorhome.

Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights in the Madison Campground, space E176. Site was pretty level and had no hookups. There was also no OTA channels and little cell coverage. This is a great campground for a Yellowstone Home Base. We were ~30 minutes from Old Faithful, Norris Geyser Basin and the city of West Yellowstone. We ended up renting a car at the W Yellowstone Aiprot so we could just leave our Motorhome set up the entire time. There is also a nice hike right out of the Campground along the Madison River where you can enjoy some wildlife and watch Fly Fishermen. Dogs are only allowed on the pavement - not a problem as it is a huge campground with plenty of loops to walk around. Convenient Dish Washing stations are provided at the restrooms that help keep down on water use in the RV. We camped at Madison Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Sink Canyon State Park, Lander, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Great State Park Campground off the beaten path in Lander, WY. Sites have no hook ups, but most back up to the Sinks River. There are not very many sites, and it is first come, first served. Payment is made in an envelope at a pay station. We have a 25' Motorhome, not sure if anything much bigger would fit. There is an awesome trail down to a Visitor Center that explains how the Sinks/Rise of the River works. There is also a nice pond at the "Rise" where there are 100+ huge trout (no fishing allowed, but real nice to watch). Trail is only 1.5 miles, but has a lot of elevation change. There is also a real neat swinging bridge that crosses the river near the campground. We camped at Sink Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Curt Gowdy State Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in Curt Gowdy State Park for two nights on a trip up to Yellowstone. Reservations were made on line and we were able to pick out our campsite at that time. Park staff was very friendly and everything was just fine. Our site had easy lake access and there are a number of nice hiking and biking trails around the two lakes in the Park. Site had electric and water and was pretty level. AT&T Cell service was adequate and there were a few OTA channels from Cheyenne. We stayed in site 25 in the Tumbleweeds campground.
