Indian Lake State Park, Lakeview, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Really enjoyed our weekend stay at Indian Lake. Busy State Park with lots of kids and adults on bikes, but we stayed in the C section, which is away from the madding crowd a bit. Cricket wireless (AT&T) was solid for me all weekend.

One annoyance was the signage for the potable water was nowhere to be found, not even on the online map. It's at the dump station and as you're leaving the park. And you're about 20 minutes from any real grocery store.

But other than that, it was a very pleasant weekend stay. If you have time, check out the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rockwater Campground, Piketon, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The voice-mail for this campground gave the camp ground store hours up until Labor Day. The called back and said they had a spot available for the weekend I wanted to stay. Nice back in full hookup site with a patio and a covered swing chair. It was too cool for the lake, but the only annoyance was with the shower house and bathrooms. The bathrooms were not open after a certain hour at night and weren't open until about 9am in the mornings. That went for the showers as well. I'm guessing the hours would be better before Labor Day...but that's only a guess. We camped at Rockwater Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lampe Marina Campground, Erie, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Best campground on our trip from Dayton, OH to Poultney, VT. On Lake Erie, we camped here on a Sunday night on the way home and we wished we could have stayed longer. No sewer at the sites, but the dump sites are very easy access. If you have DirecTV or Dish, they would be easily set up. No Wi-Fi, but had 3G Sprint connectivity. Witnessed a dual mast passenger sailboat come into dock. We researched it and plan on going back up and going for a day cruise. We camped at Lampe Marina Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Bomoseen KOA, Lake Bomoseen, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This might be tainted by the horrendous weather we had while we were there, but really didn't enjoy our stay at Lake Bomoseen KOA. The sites are very close together and our site was difficult to get in. When we asked at the campground store how hard it was to back into the site, the lady said 'People do it all the time'. We needed a young gentlemen to help spot us into the site and he was very helpful, but the response at the counter was inappropriate. The water hook up didn't have a knob to turn on the water. I had to use channel locks to turn it on. The cable channels had terrible reception and they were turned off around 1 AM and didn't come back on till 8 AM. Wi-Fi was spotty at best. Long story short, for $45 dollars it's not worth it. Try the local state parks, use your fresh water tank and dump station. We camped at Lake Bomoseen KOA in a Motorhome.

All Adventures Campground, Friendship, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Not a destination site, but the camp hosts couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Yes, you need longer hoses or power cables, but they provided that for us. They also recommended a local restaurant that delivered our dinner for a reasonable price. No Wi-Fi or cable TV and you aren't getting any over the air channels, so you better like a true camping atmosphere. Very quiet during our one day stay....lots of work campers, but they were very considerate. We camped at All Adventures Campground in a Travel Trailer.
