Cottonwood Campground (NPS Campground), Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

WOW. Loved this park and campground. The traffic jam on the way into the campground could be excused, due to the cause... Bison, lots of Bison, of all ages. There are volunteers that were more than helpful in pointing out open spots. The Bison came through while I was setting up, so that slowed things down, then one decided that my wee tent trailer looked like a likely scratching spot, so that made things rock for a bit! I had a spot near the entrance, where the self check in station is located. The downside were the other campers, why everyone feels the need to idle their rigs whilst yelling back and forth parking instructions and campground rules I'm not sure... But they did. Also, if you get to the park late, you can't try to park where you feel like it, the nice Ranger man will make you move, even if you have the largest rig this side if the rockies. This park is a gem, I hope to return. We camped at Cottonwood Campground (NPS Campground) in a Tent Trailer.

Heartland RV Park & Cabins, Hermosa, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Gravel spots, electric and water. Within feet of a very busy highway. Mostly empty, but was assigned a spot far from the bathhouse, and farther from the pool. I was tired so didn't feel like driving back to ask for a different spot, thought maybe the others were reserved... no, no one showed up at night... Did I mention the highway? The hostess was nice... OK price, but there is this highway! We camped at Heartland RV Park & Cabins in a Tent Trailer.

Bessey Recreation Complex Campground USFS, Halsey, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

So, it's near a railroad, but it's not noisy. The sites are private, lots of big, mature trees, well marked paths, clean bathrooms, with showers. I camped right on the river, so there were some frogs talking. The neighbors had four wheelers as did other denizens of the park, but they were very quite after dark, so no worries there. I had a great stay and will return. We camped at Bessey Recreation Complex Campground USFS in a Tent Trailer.

Location I-80@Exit 179. The address doesn't show on GPS, so follow the signs, easy access from the highway. Level spots, some trees, clean bathhouse. Nice, helpful hostess. Near the interstate, but not too noisy. There is a small lake and there are fish. Cash only. We camped at Lakeside Camping in a Tent Trailer.
