Benchmark RV Park, Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnite stay after a long rough weather travel day. Owners were very nice, cordial and helpful. This is a small park of about 30 sites. The pads are concrete and level and while a bit close together, acceptable. The park roadway is gravel. The pedestals are new and in great condition. The park is easy to get in and out of from any spot. We did not use the facilities but the whole place was neat and orderly. It was about 3 to 4 miles off of the interstate with very easy directions. We have put this park on our stay list whenever in this area. We were in a 44ft Motorhome. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Motorhome.

Buena Vista Coastal RV Resort, Orange Beach, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $113.00
Overall Rating:

This is an owner park with aprox. 42 finished sites. The location was excellent right on Hwy 182 across from beaches (but not on the ocean). The facility is well kept and professionally landscaped. The Interior roads and sites were brick and/or concrete. They were very spacious with plenty of "elboy" room. Some had Tiki Shade stuctures, furniture and outdoor kitchens. Easy to get around the park and their back road goes into the State park which has miles and miles of bike/hiking trails. State park also has a really nice golf course close by. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a destination park to enjoy the beach a few day trips around the area. Pensacola Fla is only 28 miles away . The pool was amazing with Lazy River and super slide for kids. We would stay here again. We camped at Buena Vista Coastal RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Flamingo Lake RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was a two day stopover in our 44ft coach and tow vehicle. The Good: Staff was friendly and receptive. They offer a Military discount for Active/Retired/ Former Military (with Proof). This was a nice touch and one of the few places that Ive been to that offer this. This is in addition to other typical discounts. This is a big park with a large lake geared for lake activities. Very kid friendly with a lot of lake toys (non- motorized). There are a lot of staff employees who are helpful. They have a restaurant on the lake open for 3 meals a day. Restaurant also has activities like Karaoke. Also have a large Laundry Center. There are a lot of trees and shady sites and Cable Tv that gets some 54 stations. Because of its size and amenities (lake), you should have a reservation. Golf carts are aloud and can be rented from there. The Disappointing: We left a day early. Part of it was the weather- was Raining a lot. (it is Florida in summer) and our site was under water most of the time, tight and not a lot of space between neighbors. There were a lot of sites under water..... This made for a mess. Site pads were paved except in the back 40 where it was hard packed gravel, but also with a nice lake view. They do not give refunds if you leave early. Because the park is a local destination park, there appear to be folks that block or rent their sites for the season. So it makes availability of some spaces non existant. There are also appears to be full timers that take up much of the park. The park is easy to get to off of the interstate and close enough to shopping etc. But, for us the site selection was not very accommodating. I would say if you had a group that included kids or grandkids, they would love it. The park adheres to very strict rules that don't seem to be unrealistic maybe except for all the notices that if you go over 5mph they will ask you to leave. I saw many golf carts who obviously didn't feel it applied to them. We camped at Flamingo Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Magnolia RV Park and Campground, Kinards, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This was a stopover. Staff very friendly and helpful. A nice quiet park with a lot of trees and nice space. We were in a pull thru with our 44ft Coach. We decided this was a cozy little place and felt very comfortable for the 50 spaces that it occupied. The park was nicely kept, pool area neat and tidy and office open til 8pm. The park was and sites were made up of hard pan and crushed surface and fairly level but some spaces a little less so but not problematic at all. There have been a lot of upgrades like new pedestals and water spigots. Many sites have and allow campfires. Sites included back ins and pull thru's. Some may find with bigger Coach rigs, to Unhook before coming to site, depending on where on the property. There are some regulars/fulltimes, but all sites are kept very neat and orderly. Overall a pleasant and comfortable place to stay. The singing birds everywhere were a pleasant surprise. Would stay here again when in the area. Would recommend a reservation before you get here. The area doesn't have a lot of parks and in the summer the places around get full especially coming into a weekend or holiday. Nice experience! We camped at Magnolia RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights waiting to go to Newmar Factory (about 20 miles away). This is a pretty big park surrounded in the rear by line of large trees with trees sprinkled throughout the center of park. We were in a pull-through at back of park. Plenty of space between spots. Grass was well manicured and spots are level with gravel. The park has a pool, a mini golf putt course and playground. Elkhart is a nice community. The RV/MH museum is here and a lot of associated RV shops to get things done...like furniture makers (who we used) and OEM furniture showroom (Bradand Hall) in Elkhart. A nice Amish community also that provides shops and services. Check In staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.

Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park, Effingham, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight. Make sure you get directions from park web site or call. There is a lot of road construction coming off interstate and your GPS may disappoint you. Once you go down the long road, (which is near residential areas) follow the signs (there are several) to the end (even when you see the Dead End sign). The last sign will turn you left into park about 200 yards away. If you don't you may do like we did and turn into the "Trailer Park Section".

The park is very neat and orderly and mostly under trees (and shady) which are all trimmed up, and by a nice lake. It is a pleasant environment. Our site was hard pan small gravel as is most sites, but level and had cable hook ups. We had a 44' coach and they have pull-throughs that will accommodate big rigs.

There is a Pilot Truck stop on way in or out which is convenient. We would stay here again. Because it was a holiday weekend, closed early on Saturday so did not run into staff. We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shady Lake RV Park, Sulphur Springs, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Gave it a 3 because the electric and water worked. This is mostly a residence park and is dated. They may have about 4 or so spots for transient stays. Space was on grass. If it rains, you may be in trouble. They close by noonish on Saturday, so never saw any staff.

In hindsight would have been as good to stay at truck stop or at a Walmart.

It IS easy to find of the interstate (about 3 miles) But it is an old park not very well kept up and overpriced at $32.00

While the pickings are slim in this area, think I would stop a little further up the road in Mt. Pleasant. Sign out front says, "Best Little RV Park in Texas" clearly part of someone's delusion! They just don't take care of this place. We camped at Shady Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dixon Lake Campground, Escondido, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for one week in a 43ft Diesel Pusher. There are numerous sections and elevations to this park. It is tucked away and about 13 miles from hwy 78 which goes to the coast (Oceanside-Carlsbad) and IH 5. We normally stay closer in but our regular park was booked.

The only down side to this park is WI-FI and Telephone (Verizon) service. It is extremely week and sometimes unusable and it was a necessary item for us. For that reason alone, I could not stay here again (we work while on the road). I understand it is not totally there fault. We used our own Hot spot. They provide Tengonet for 1 computer and charge for any others. Access to spaces for big rigs is good....they will selectively place you where you will fit. It has many trees available and two ponds, and family friendly. Many travel trailers and permanent residents but the park is very well maintained , clean and manicured. It is easy access from IH 15 and about 12 miles to the north end of Escondido. I could not stay here again because of communication access issues. We camped at Dixon Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Mountain View RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We overnite in Van Horn several times a year passing through and normally stay at the KOA. Not anymore. We decided this trip to try something different after reading the other reviews of Mountain View. A pleasant surprise. The new ownership family is doing a nice job. Sites are plenty big - no stepping on your neighbor. Almost every site has a Neat Pine tree. Sites are level, hookups are all what you would expect and the driving isles are plenty big to negotiate any rig. The mountain views in evening are terrific and overall very glad we stayed here. The owners couldn't be more accommodating even offering free transportation to local restaurants if you don't want to unhook your tow vehicle. We enjoyed our stay and will make this our Van Horn Stop. Easy Access and signage. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Olive Street RV Resort, Vista, California

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly new RV park addition to an existing park. Park sites are concrete and roads blacktopped. I would have given it a 10 except the spaces are a bit tight side to side The manager here could not be nicer and more accommodating. She lives on site and is readily available. We were here for about 3 weeks coming and going the whole time visiting family all over and using Vista as a hub. Wanted to be on the coast but couldn't get a reservation in time and a place that would accommodate my 42.5 footer. Vista is only about 7 miles from the coast. Wifi was excellent. Pool and spa were nice and clean. Wash facilities were great. The weather in Vista is as good as anything in North County. I would stay here again. We camped at Olive Street RV Resort in a Motorhome.
