Valley of the Rogue State Park, Gold Hill, Oregon

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Difficult time to stay, region under extreme weather, ice storms, high winds. There were multiple down trees, no staff to check in, park hosts on site, but we didn't have any interaction with them. We are 45' RV w/F250 tow and additional car. We barely fit in site 90, tree next to slide, overlaps next site, but got in! Right on Rogue River, beautiful! Restrooms close by, but did not use. A little close to I5 road noise, but not a problem inside. I think it would be enjoyable in warmer weather! We camped at Valley of the Rogue State Park in a Motorhome.

RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino, Corning, California

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

First come first serve, by 4pm it got crowded, although we did make a reservation, so I think we would have a spot if we showed up late. The site was plenty long enough for our 45' w/F250 tow and all 4 slides. Every site 70', 30/50, water, sewer. The site would have been wide enough for the extra vehicle we drove, but we couldn't get the RV over enough (2tries) to mKe room for the car. I parked it next to the tow, but was slightly on the berm. A park employee in a golf cart drove up and said, 'who are you to park on my island', we were dumbfounded. A simple move your car off the berm or to the side, would have been met with 'no problem'. Instead I was insulted and ticked. Unfortunately, we had another problem with the same employee after dark whizzing around in the golf cart he almost hit our dog who was on a leash. At this point we spoke with management. The Casino is a nice entertainment addition (we've never stayed at a casino before, but see this one every time we're up and down the I5). Unfortunately, no shows at the event center, but we ate at the buffet, standard, and did a little gambling. It was a nice diversion after a few days on the road. Not sure it's worth a repeat visit. We camped at RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino in a Motorhome.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

45' m/h with F250 tow. 2nd trip. The park is very nice. The first time we stayed we were told there was overflow parking for our extra vehicle (we were towing and had additional car). This time told that we would have to park at golf course, when the same overflow had spots. The overnight spots are all 70' concrete with 30/50 amp, water and sewer. Plenty of space for slides. they have smaller sites for longer stays/smaller rigs. The park is pleasant, a pond with geese, a dog area that's gated. Each time the neighbors are friendly. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

We've had trouble finding entrance twice. Park is just past the golf course, look for vertical flags that say RV for entrance.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

2nd visit, park is growing in popularity, near full. The facilities here are new and very good. We're 45' w/tow and had pull through site. Plenty of room, length and width. Sites are gravel and level. Nice grass area at each site, clever bench/picnic table at each site, new trees that will be an asset in years to come. No problem with utilities. Beautiful pool area, 2 dog runs, nice little store, nice laundry facility. Escort to your site. Interior roads paved and easy to maneuver. Easy in/out from I-82. No evening noise. Would have rated 10 if shade trees were more mature and reservation had gone smoother. Had a little trouble with reservation/check in. Was asked for Visa or MC to reserve, I asked if they took Discover, was told they did, but preferred not to. Explained this was the card all of my trip expenses were going on and she reluctantly took my card, with some attitude. Upon check in, the same woman made a comment to the lovely woman who checked us in, that 'these were the ones'. It only takes a small thing to sour ones feelings about their experience. We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Flathead River RV Resort, Polson, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The sites in this park are owned/for sale. There were a good deal of folks who come every year due to the site ownership. Everyone was very friendly. The sites are all level and gravel. Plenty of space for our 45' and tow and plenty of room between sites even with slides. We were fortunate enough to have an end site with grass. Other sites had gravel in between. The park has access to the Flathead river, including a dock for foot traffic. Easy access to downtown Polson. Didn't use shower/laundry. I used a Verizon air card which worked well. We used Directv and even though there were trees, we didn't have trouble with signal. Would definitely stay again when in the area. We camped at Flathead River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Grande Hot Springs Resort (formerly Eagles Hot Lake RV Park), La Grande, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is easy in/out. We had full hookups with 50 amp which all worked well, including running 3 ACs. Site was gravel, level and had picnic table, with a patch of grass and small tree which provided shadow shade. Site was long enough for 43' MH & TV and wide enough for 4 slides and not be on top of each other. We didn't use it, but had pool, dog area and rentable pavilion. DirecTV came in and the wifi had good signal as they had several antennae. This was our 2nd visit. We camped at Grande Hot Springs Resort (formerly Eagles Hot Lake RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Best way to get to park is exit 265. If you are traveling westbound, there is an exit bringing you in closer to the park, but it's dirt. Nobody tells you that, we found out the hard way on our 1st trip.

Oregon Trail Campground, Twin Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights in 43' MH w/TV. Requested 50 amp pull thru. We were put in a concrete, level spot with hook ups, which all worked well, but didn't have any shade trees, picnic table, fire pit or any other hominess. There were several spots that had those things available, not sure why we weren't put in one, except we originally planned to stay 1 night and ended up staying 2. This park has mostly full time residents, but a few spots for overnighters. The owner, Mark, is a great guy, which added to the stay. We camped at Oregon Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed an additional day to Zip The Snake (zipline). It was a blast. They're putting in a 4000' line due in September, which would do if we came back. If you're just passing through, consider a meal at Elevation 486, the food is fine, nothing special, but the view of the Snake River, canyon and Perreine Bridge are truly SPECTACULAR!

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Park was easy to find. All roads/sites are gravel and fairly level. Check in was easy and personable. Sites were a little close together, everyone had slides. 50 amp worked well as did sewer and water. Can hear interstate, but quieted down at night. Had a problem with the next neighbor, pull a sewer line and sprayed crap all over our coach. Husband went to office and manager came right out, apologized and offered to help with cleaning cost. We wouldn't hear of it, it certainly wasn't the park's fault. Ok for stay over when traveling through. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Cabela's RV Park & Campground, Sidney, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I rated the park low for the service we received, not the park. I called at 11:30am to make a reservation, based on the 'loosey-goosey' review. The reservation girl told me (and I found out several others) that her manager told her she couldn't accept reservations anymore. At that time there were 5 full hookups available and 7 electric only. Being the RVers that we are, we pushed to get in by 1:30 expecting that we'd be at the front of the pack. When we got in we were told that all full hookups were taken, 'reserved'. Obviously we pitched a bit of a fit, but the girl looked at us like her hands were tied. They did have 7 50amp electric only, which we took. My husband got in the phone and called the store manager, who said all full hookups were reservable just nit the last row of electric only. Needless to say we were pretty frustrated watching RVs come in the next couple of hours and go to the full hookups. With that being said, the full hookups sites looked fine for a 40' with slides and room for a tow vehicle. Power worked well, ran 3 ACs. The back row we were in was not level, everyone was on some kind of jack/block. Park was easy in/out, no road noise even with interstate within eye sight. I definitely would not plan to stay here without a reservation. We camped at Cabela's RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

RV Park Reviews has the park telephone number incorrect, it's

308-255-8443. Cabelas needs to think of their park in the same manner as their stores. We drove a lot of hours/miles thinking we were going to do some shopping when we got there, but were so frustrated that we couldn't spend money with that brand.

Camp A Way, Lincoln, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Google & Apple map directions are accurate. Park was easy in/out. Park is quite large, with a mix of short & long term campers, which was not an issue. For an overnight stay they put us in the back, closer to the freeway, which had some road noise, but no more than the ciccadas! It was very hot so our windows were closed and we didn't hear any noise. Our site was pull thru, long and wide enough for our 43' MH & TV and 4 slides. Had picnic table & firepit, which were both too close to coach to use. We had full hook ups, which all worked well, including running 3 ACs. Site was gravel & level, I didn't see anyone on blocks. We had a good amount of shade, but they asked when we checked in if we use sattelite and we were able to get good reception on Directv. Had several wifi antennas around campground and worked very well, enen in the evening. Amenities were good, camp store with small kitchen & ice cream, small pool, laundry facility, play ground for kids, had a designated pet area, but campers in front of us just used their grassy area, which probably accounted for some odors in grassy areas (maybe should be a little stricter). Good stop which I would use again. We camped at Camp A Way in a Motorhome.

Coachlight RV Park, Carthage, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 2nd time at Coachlight, we have family in Carthage and Joplin and the location is convenient, near I-44 & I-49, no road noise. Park is easy to enter & exit. Hook ups all work well, we ran 3 ACs on the 50 amp. Sites a re gravel, level, spacious enough for 4 slides and tow. We were in lower section, upper was full. Lower had no shade trees and Directv worked well. Upper section has beautiful shade trees and large area (not fenced) for pets. 3 wifi stations in park, so signal was great. Coachlight did repair work on our coach on last visit and we were very happy with work and how accommodating there were. We camped at Coachlight RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is very easy to get to, just odd highway, but quiet, all roads are paved and wide. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Check-in included a map of area attractions, which we used. Road to our site was paved, site was gravel, level and spacious, plenty of room for our 43' MH & towed and 4 slides, pull-through. 50 amp worked well, we ran all 3 A/Cs. Park had lake and many types of rentals. The only thing I marked down for was no shade trees, but DirecTV and Verizon worked great. Would definitely stay again. Scales Campground and Marina, North Liberty, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Park has great deal of seasonal residents, not leaving many sites for visitors. Staff that checked us in did not know which sites were 30 or 50 amp, didn't clarify that we wanted sewer with 50 amp (we were staying couple days), sent us to 3 different sites (2nd site we had already leveled on blocks before we realized it was 30 amp). Ended up that we took site without sewer, which was gravel, fairly level (previous site was not) and spacious, plenty of room for motorhome and towed and 4 slides. Site had beautiful shade trees which were very helpful for comfort, but blocked our DirecTv signal. Verizon service very good. This park really caters to locals who come in for weekend with their own watercraft, nothing is available for rental. The neighbor says they have entertainment on the weekend. I don't think you'd get in on weekend without reservation but Mon-Wed ok. Park was quite a ways from interstate which made the setting serene. We camped at Scales Campground and Marina in a Motorhome.

You have to use Hwy 965 to get to campground, which is under construction, with several detours, which were very confusing, taking you through small residential streets that weren't too RV friendly. The construction made the campground undesirable.

Yankton / Missouri River KOA, Yankton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Easy enough to get to, all roads RV friendly. This was a stop over from Black Hills to Cedar Rapids. Staff was friendly and escorted us to our site, pull through large enough for 43' MH & TV. Site didn't have any shade, 97 degrees with 80% humidity. 50 amp kept tripping when running all 3 ACs, had to use only 2. Didn't try WIFI, but Verizon signal good, Directv good. Site had picnic table, firepit and was roomy enough for 4 slides, but no one was next to us. Pool looked good, but was 80+ so we stayed in AC. Would stop again for overnight, really nothing else around. We camped at Yankton / Missouri River KOA in a Motorhome.

Steel Wheel Campground, Deadwood, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Easy access off Hwy 385, except having to go through Deadwood, which is under construction for roads, convenient to the places we wanted to see; monuments, Badlands, Black Hills, local history, had a restaurant on site which we ate at making it convenient and pretty good food, Directv did work. Cons: there must be good off roading nearby because the park was mainly filled with ORVs making it dusty, noisy and a bit crowded, we have 43' MH w/TV, MH barely fit site and TV had to park on grass, all hookups were good, no WIFI on Verizon aircard, cell or campground, park was right on Hwy 385, no buffer, but surprisingly quiet. Park worked for our 3 night stay, but would probably seek another location next time. We camped at Steel Wheel Campground in a Motorhome.
