Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park is so pretty with all the trees, creeks that run through the campsites, a nice pond and swimming pool. It has a nice campstore and the staff were very friendly. When we arrived there had been lots of rainfall from the Florence Tropical Storm and we had reserved a site that backed up to the pond, but asked to be moved to a site on higher ground which they accommodated. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Greenwood Lodge and Campsites, Bennington, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

What a very pleasant surprise! When we saw the first signage to Prospect Mountain Ski we were a little concerned, but we followed the road up to the Greenwood Lodge/Campground's registration office and saw the beauty in this gem of a park. There are two nice ponds on the property with use of their canoes "free," as well as they supply the life jackets. The sites are spaciously spread apart, many separated by trees/shrubs offering privacy, although we chose a site more in the open. The WiFi was very strong much better than most campgrounds we stay at that advertise WiFi, but usually do not have good, strong connections. This campground is remote, heavily wooded area, yet very good WiFi We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Tuxbury Pond RV Resort, South Hampton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

The pretty blue-color pond shown on their website is actually a vegetation infested pond and we were cautioned not to swim in it, not that we would be interested from the appearance anyway. There are many full-time seasonal campers, many very old trailers and areas surrounding are unkempt. We were in A01, across from the pool where loud music was played all day, and our site was surrounded by three-dirt roads heavily trafficked by golf carts and vehicles which made a constant dirt cloud surrounding our site. It was Labor Day weekend, but we made our reservations 2 1/2 months prior to our visit and were told this was the only site available, probably because of the numerous full-timer/seasonal sites. We have stayed in many campgrounds and some better than others, but this truly was a big disappointment and honestly misleading from their website and Park Reviews. Their new Camp Store is nice and the Camp Registration, Camp Staff are friendly and helpful. There were lots of kids and games scheduled for the kids. It was a surprise to us that it is listed as an Encore Thousand Trails RV Resort, as most of those we've seen are much nicer. We would not recommend this campground and will not be staying here again. We camped at Tuxbury Pond RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Diesel Fuel is difficult to find and major discount stores such as Target or Walmart are a difficult drive for just a quick run because this campground is so remotely located. Don't follow your GPS, ask for directions.

Easterlin Park Campground, Oakland Park, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Beautiful park, nice level and landscaped. Great location, near many beaches

Cons: Some sites hard to maneuver into. Narrow tree lined streets, arrive in daytime. Adjacent to very noisy I-95. Frequent loud trains can at times create a rumble to be felt

A great base camp park for motor homes, fifth wheels and travel trailers with some sound proofing. Not so great for sitting around outside although I will say I got used to the trains during my 2 week stay. I slept fine, trains were much less frequent at night. I would go back. We camped at Easterlin Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
