Thousand Trails - Crescent Bar, Quincy, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We have never stayed in this park or visited this community, wow were we impressed. First, the campground. Excellent staff, very well maintained, large sites and green grass with some shade. Every night they turn on the sprinklers so don't leave anything out. They tell you this up front and it is in print so if your stuff gets wet or you read people's bad reviews, they must not have read the info because it's really clear. There is a really nice club house with amazing views of the river. The pool here is OK but that has more to do with the heat and the water staying warm. Not their fault. Now the community. Great walking trails. Multiple golf courses. Beautiful park where you have water access and a roped off place to swim. Very well maintained. There are a few stores and places to eat. If you own a boat this place is paradise. Scenic views and we even had some f-14 fly byes through the canyon. We came here in the heat (it was about 100 a few days) and the a/c's were running day and night. We never had power issues. This is a hidden gem that is totally worth a visit. The campground and the community. You won't be dissappointed. We camped at Thousand Trails - Crescent Bar in a Motorhome.

Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca, Randle, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park on our way to another destination. It is a VERY large park. Lots for kids - two pools, play area, hay rides, zip line. It is located right off highway 12 with beautiful mountain views. The campground is a bit rustic and the roads are dusty. Most of the sites are water/electric only unless you use the full site part near the road. We stayed out in the "meadow" section, very quiet and picturesque. We have ATT so there was no cell service but we heard other carriers will work there. They have a store that feels about as rustic as the campground. The people that work there are VERY nice. We chatted with a few of them. Pleasant and helpful. The WiFi was not bad near the store or where you check in. It was a good "passing through" place for us to stop. Two nights was good for us. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

Lake Mayfield Resort, Mossyrock, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

If you are a boater, this is the place for you. The sites are tight but you are right at the marina. This place recently changed owners and they are really nice. They are trying to change/improve a things. They have cabins and a motel all on site for non RVers so it's not necessarily quiet, but they are really good about the quiet hour times in the evenings. The only downer for us was the water was brown, literally brown. Don't know what the issue was but I know they are working on improving this place. If you want to camp and boat, this is the spot for you. We camped at Lake Mayfield Resort in a Motorhome.

O'Sullivan Sportsman Resort, Othello, Washington

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this park in the off season. The park is very clean and the sites are nice. If you like to play golf they have a course right next door. If you like to boat or fish the reservoir is right across the street. You are out in the stix a bit. They do have a convenience store and a restaurant nearby. Be aware of the water pressure here. It is very good and, by good, I mean strong. We really enjoyed our stay. We camped at O'Sullivan Sportsman Resort in a Motorhome.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large, very nice park. The staff are SUPER friendly and helpful! It is just off the freeway on the edge of town. There is a large gas station and camping world as you pull off the freeway. The sites are mostly level. The back side of the park has some beautiful views. It was what we hoped for after a long day of driving.
The reason I marked it just "good" was because the wifi was non existant, there is no club house (sometimes you need a place to go other than the coach) and the free continental breakfast was "ok".
The staff were great. Really great. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Abilene RV Park, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

It's a good overnighter but a little pricey for what you get. We pulled in late and left early. There was no packet waiting for us which was surprising. The people we talked to on the phone were nice and friendly. Full hook ups and fairly level sites. Very easy to navigate the park. We camped at Abilene RV Park in a Motorhome.

Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest RV parks we have stayed in, period. The staff are amazing, the sites are shaded and you are basically in the middle of downtown but it is quiet. If you are looking to camp in Moab, look no further than here. We will absolutely come back to this park the next time we visit. Pool, wifi, cable and the location are all great. For the reviewers that mention the "tightness" of the park, we have a 36' class A and did just fine. The navigation has more to do with inconsiderate people parking further out than they should. We camped at Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You must do the Hummer Tour with Moab Tour Company. Request Casey. It was fun and a little scary! We did a package deal with them that included a 1/2 day rafting trip & the gunner your in the afternoon. It cost us (4 of us - two adult, two teen) right around $100 per person but you got the views from the river AND the back country in a hummer.
If you need to rent a car Kim with Enterprise has some of the best customer service I have ever seen.

Tips for other Campers:

The public transit system here is CRAP! The bus system is ridiculous, hard to navigate and not even close to being on time. Galveston does not allow Uber or Lyft and the taxi service is very expensive. Rent a car or bring your own transportation. Lesson learned.

Benchmark RV Park, Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

First, let me say that this park in not actually in Meridian. It is just outside of town - like 5 miles. It's not the easiest park to get to but if you are looking to stop for the night and move on then this park is just for you. There is no pool and minimal amenities but it does have cable. At our site the cable didn't work very well. The WiFi was spotty but we were warned before we got to the site. The office is open early in the morning and late in the afternoon but during the day you will only get someone by phone. We were charged extra for each of our two kids. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

If you want to stay close to downtown New Orleans then use this park! It is a beautiful place to camp. There is a really cool pool, restaurant/bar and a marina. The staff are SUPER helpful! We took Uber into town with no trouble at all. This is a safe campground in a really nice location. The roads coming in are rough, really rough, but once you turn into the campground you are fine. Our only regret is that we had just one night here. We would absolutely stay here again!! We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf, Park City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for a park to visit while checking out mammoth caves then stay here. The park is decent but old, however, the staff are SUPER friendly and helpful. When we stayed it was rather hot so the park power source was straining to keep up with the AC units going full tilt in all the rigs on the property. This is a nice park. Everything is dated. The "fitness" room and the TV room are old as well as the rooms that accommodate them. They had activities for adults and kids and a very nice pool. The mini golf course needs a major overhaul but it was fun to play. We would stay here again. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

Mammoth Caves are 7 miles away. Must see. If you want pizza delivered you better bring it with you. In fact do your shopping before you arrive. The closest real town is about 10 miles away - super Walmart, movie theater, etc. ATT cell service is spotty.

Thousand Trails-Pine Country, Belvidere, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

If you are traveling through like us, this is a great option. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The park is huge and they have a very nice, large pool. It's a nice park... however.
You are not at a campground, you are more like in a neighborhood of trailers 5th wheels. This is not a reflection on the staff or the park. Unfortunately thousand trails is trying to sell, sell, sell spots. I get it but it changes the feel of the place. It's too bad because the park is well laid out. We walked the park and the park is FULL but no one is here. We got one of the last spots remaining for the night and we were here mid week. I will say one of the downers was when I was cooking dinner I went inside and when I came back out there was a cat on my picnic table checking out what I was cooking. Like I said, it's a neighborhood. Nice park, nice people, but not really a campground. We camped at Thousand Trails-Pine Country in a Motorhome.

Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Prior Lake, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

I would stay at this park even if I wasn't just passing through across country. Super, super clean. Great customer service. They have free shuttles all over the property. We stayed here because of the free, yes free, shuttle into the Mall of America. They have shuttles that will take you all over the area. Seriously this is a great deal!
The sites are level, wide and well kept. The park is beautiful and the casino is nice too. They have cheap fuel on site and an RV wash too. Just a beautiful property.
There is no "clubhouse" per se but you can pay $5 per person to gain access to their fitness center.
The bad - The wifi here is not good. I think that is the only bad thing I can say about this park. We camped at Dakotah Meadows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hart Ranch Camping Resort, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in our 8+ years of camping. Super friendly staff, well laid out park, great experience. They even have a gas station! There is PLENTY to do. Great pool, a place to eat, etc. Did I mention how great the staff are. Seriously the customer service was off the charts! We would stay here again and would recommend it for sure.
What would have made it a "10" would be better wifi (I know, we are camping but when you are on a cross country trip, you need the wifi) and I would recommend a larger clubhouse. With over 400 sites plus all the cabins, the clubhouse gets a bit crowded. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Ocean Breeze , Ocean City, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

My wife and I drove through this park about four years ago and thought "meh, it's ok" so when I booked it for one night I had low expectations. Let me tell you, this park has changed for the better. The park is HUGE! I walked it just to see what had changed. They have added sites, improved the playground and are doing even more new things (frisbee golf, grass field) to make it better. The sites are large and secluded. Near the back of the park, you can still hear the ocean and have the seclusion of the forest. They have a pool and a decent club house with pool and foosball tables. My site even had a deck that looked out on to a creek. The staff are super helpful and VERY friendly. This is a great park and I wish I had more time to stay here.

A few minor down sides - they only have water and electric at the sites but they do provide four dump stations. It's not a problem for our motorhome but in a trailer with kids it may have been problematic. They do have beach access but you have to walk about a mile to get there once you hit the campground entrance. The other thing is the wifi is slow but if you are looking to unplug on vacation, who cares :-) This is a wonderful campground. We camped at Ocean Breeze in a Motorhome.
