Boot Hill RV Resort, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a dusty, gravel parking lot next to US-54 outside of Alamogordo. Our nightly rate was for electricity ONLY in a pull-thru site approximately 20 yards from the highway which is a major trucking and travel corridor in and out of the city. Park advertises as a Good Sam park yet does not honor nor give any consideration to Good Sam members. Currently the highway is under construction so attempting to get southbound on the highway from the park is rather unsafe. Did not use the restrooms nor the showers and if it wasn't for the non-refundable deposit for our reservation would have left immediately after seeing the park and the "site" they had for us. Oh there was one good thing about the site, though a tight turn in, it was actually pretty level. We camped at Boot Hill RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't trust the advertising and beware the ongoing road construction north of Alamogordo. It was here back in 2016 and still going strong.

Valley View RV Park, Island Park, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Uneven, non-level sites separated by scraggly, barely alive crab grass. Sites do offer a fair amount of space between though if we had a neighbor we would have had to watch closely that our slide/awning didn't collide. Was chastised for getting the PA discount because the owner had apparently told some but not all that he wasn't offering it. Give him credit though as he kept with the quoted prices and honored the PA discount. Got to also say the folks that work here are simply outstanding, making the park. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

I've never been able to rate a campground as "pristine" and used the word "immaculate" in a review until now. Large, spacious, level sites to accommodate the largest rig. If you are anywhere near the Little Big Horn Battlefield historical area, this is really the only RV campground to use. Close, quiet and secure. We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Alta Lake State Park, Pateros, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We were camp hosts for this park. Three years ago the park was caught in the Carlton Complex fire, the largest in Washington's history (over 250,000 acres burned) and was nearly destroyed. Hundreds of ponderosa pine and shade trees were reduced to ashes. Since then, the park has been in recovery. New trees have been planted and the native sumac has returned. You can obviously still see the devastation but it now lends the park a very rustic atmosphere enhanced by the predominately tent camping site arrangements. With a few exceptions sites are gravel and mostly dry camp with nearby water. There are water/power sites as well and depending on location a choice of 50 or 30 amp. Very few FHU but there is a dump station. The main attraction is the namesake - Alta Lake with trout, kokonee salmon, and bass. There is a large marked swim area and a concessionaire stand for food, ice, and firewood. Personally, I feel the state mandated pricing is high as the park is still recovering from being wiped out. We camped at Alta Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Moon River RV Resort, Mohave Valley, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Older park under new ownership/management. Staff extremely helpful. Good park to stay in if intend to visit Oatman. One fact that was a put off was the almost overwhelming odor of moth balls. We camped at Moon River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

All gravel back-in sites that we could see. Spacious sites though no tables or other amenities. Road in is through a neighborhood with narrow roads until you get into the park where they have plenty of room.

Nice amenities in the resort, just didn't use them as our time there was limited. We camped at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Granted it is the off season so park was quite empty. Sits off from the interstate far enough there is little to no road noise. We chose a back-in site for economy and I know what the R does. Staff at the front desk went the extra mile in assisting in finding a mobile tech to solve an issue we had. Very new park so landscaping is very young. This has the potential of becoming the premier resort in a very wide area. Loved it. We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Motorhome.

For mobile RV tech: Jess Pearson. Ask at the KOA for his number if you can't get it at the desk or elsewhere. Wingers Casino very smokey and at the time of visit no alcohol. Grill is good for a hamburger or sandwich - not stellar but okay.

Premier RV Resorts of Eugene Oregon, Coburg, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $54.00

Right next to I-5 and directly across from a TA truck stop so there is the noise component that detracts from what would otherwise be an enjoyable stay. Plenty of amenities in the park and very nearby. We camped at Premier RV Resorts of Eugene Oregon in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the park map for coupons and deals. Nice discount on fuel from the closest station. The "picnic" table was one of those foldable table/bench suitable only for two people.

Mints on check-in and the newspaper on the rig's steps each morning was a very nice touch.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Rate included $2.00 surcharge for 50amp service and was water and electric only by request. Park is pristine, well taken care of. Sites were gravel, level and pull-thru. The park is associated with and well suited for any visit to the Meteor Crater. Some road noise due to proximity with I-40.

The staff makes this park. Simply outstanding in local knowledge, funny and cheerful. They really take care of you. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Motorhome.

Edgington RV Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

As noted, the PA discount makes this a very attractive park to utilize while in Alamogordo. The new owners/staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The sites are gravel and level and use the push/pull parking style. Excellent park for overnight or has a base camp for exploring. We camped at Edgington RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails / Medina Lake, Lakehills, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

We were there in February so there was ongoing maintenance and prep for the season with cut trees being cleaned up. Mini putt could use an overhaul. Nice, level sites. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of wildlife. Activities in the campground and proximity to the San Antonio area for historical and other interests. This was the furthest east we had been and first time in Texas. We'll be back. Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $15.00

No reservations. Greeted by a very cheerful host who welcomed us like we had been there before (never had). Site choices were good and ours was a over sized, level, gravel pull through with, despite the time of year, a nice lawn. This one is a keeper in our book. Winchester RV Park and Campground, Republic, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This well groomed, immaculate park is located about 4 miles outside of the town of Republic. Very close to Curlew lake. Would have give this one a 10 but getting into some of the sites are a bit tight for a bigger rig to back into. The sites are generously spaced, offering ample room.

Hosts are friendly, helpful, and hard workers as their park clearly shows the amount of care and attention they pay. Will be coming back for years to come. We camped at Winchester RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Carmela RV Park, Glenns Ferry, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a standard RV park. The things that make it stand out however are the restaurant, excellent golf (9/18 holes, well groomed course), and winery - good choices and some very good selections. Added bonus is the history of the area. We camped at Carmela RV Park in a Motorhome.
