Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Large park with concrete pull-thru sites and interior roads, Office staff is most helpful if in need of a specific type retail store or such, large grassy dog park, small new equipment playground, swimming pool, with modern pedestals, good WiFi, and overall a great park to stay in, the gates are locked after hours and have code to enter park after hours. The Restroom/Showers/Laundry Bldg. is built for a Tornado shelter also, which is a great asset to a park in this area. It is very quiet although very interior trees and what there are few. Grounds are clean as are all facilities. Rate quoted is for a monthly rate of $450 plus $50 electric deposit. We are at the far side of the park, thus in Site #1. This is our second time here and will return if in the area again. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Topeka has too many sights & places to see to list any specific ones, although just outside the park is a BBQ restaurant with lunch hours only which used to be at another location ... Haven't tried it yet, but all say it is delicious and worth the line.

Sioux City North KOA, North Sioux City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Easy off & on to I-29, easy driving into and out of rv park, staff is very helpful & friendly, spent a restful 2 nights there and enjoyed seeing all the motorcycles coming and leaving on their way to Sturgis, campers were most friendly and helpful also, plus no railroad noise, I-29 a short away so some traffic noise, and there may be an airport nearby as heard an occasional plane. Overall a great place to stop to spend some restful time, and children would have a blast here. We camped at Sioux City North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Camp Dakotah, Sisseton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Easy in and out campground, although different in that there are two long rows of sites in back of the office with alternating pedestals so it appears sharing hookups, but not really as each have their own, mostly long term people with a few people coming and going on a daily basis, like us who stayed two nights as wanted to see Sisseton historical places, sites were a combination of having had gravel, although mostly dirt with some grass growing in between. Office lady said go find a spot which we did as all are pull-through sites. No fire pits nor picnic tables. We camped at Camp Dakotah in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Sisseton is in nearby Lake City - about 25 miles away - also on the outskirts of town is The Nicollet Tower and Interpretive Center which is 75 ft. tall, can see three states, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota from the top if brave enough to climb. Also a lovely historic home to tour is The Stavig House Museum which is well worth the time to tour.

Oakdale KOA, Oakdale, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff, small park, not far from major interchange, did hear traffic & airplane noise plus a fair amount of train noise, but overall a good park in which to stay. Cable TV with almost 50 channels and a listing of area churches on their brochure as well as the name of a local veterinarian. We camped at Oakdale KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Ate at the nearby Minne's Pies which is just down the road apiece, and has very good food, although their pies are a "fold-over type" and baked, similar to what we used to eat in the South ... made for lunches, etc.

Uniontown KOA (formerly Rivers Edge Campground), Connellsville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

First time here as we are traveling North from Washington DC area to Pittsburgh. First time stays in RV parks/campgrounds are always a bit apprehensive, but arrival here was great as website pictures, notes, amenities were as shown/advertised. Love when that happens. We like design of park, including roads are very negotiable, staff are helpful, deli with pizza/bread sticks, & ice cream cones, also is a gift store, RV supplies section, game room (in separate bldg.), showers, restrooms, laundry, and pool area all very well laid out, plus a good path around the park in which to walk. The owner/managers know their clientele and it shows in many large and small ways. Given the opportunity will stay here again. We camped at Uniontown KOA (formerly Rivers Edge Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Professional Staff, easy check-in, good escort to site, grounds are clean/nice. We were sited in a small RV/tent site, which was nice. Picnic table and fire ring were in a small separate area about 1/2 the length of site and surrounded with 8x8 inch lumber and filled in with gravel - this made for safety as little ones were prevented from accidentally walking to fire ring. Then next along the length of site was a separate area for tents which was also surrounded with same lumber, only was filled with small well draining smooth gravel. The driveway area for RVs worked great for us in our small RV. Family shower/restrooms were nice and large. Laundry room was nice and machines appeared to be new ones. We spent two nights here and were not bothered by the freeway noise and found this place a delight to stay. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Natural Bridge / Lexington KOA, Natural Bridge, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Overall with cleanliness of grounds, cable TV, good escort to site, and general layout of campground, this was a good overnight spot for us. A bit of a snafu at checkin, which BTW has the second and third RVs in line on an uphill road with only one at the top on flat portion of hill road. Seems kind of odd from a safety standpoint. Site a bit snug, next time will add 4-5 ft onto the size of our RV to allow for a little wiggle room to level it. Full hookup, cable, picnic table, and fire pit. We camped at Natural Bridge / Lexington KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA, Oak Grove, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Came in just ahead of a thunder storm, was nice to find that the office has an "alarm" system - siren for a storm warning requiring get into 'covered space' ... Ice cream counter was good, purchased couple of cones to walk around and relax a bit before siting. Site guide knew what he was doing, after siting us, we all chatted a while before readying travel trailer in-site. Yes there is some traffic noise, but none that the AC could not drown out. Grounds are grass, trees, and gravel, and see a Jump Pad as well as pool with lounge chairs around, each site has a fire pit, picnic table, and roadways are wide enough for long units. Didn't get a chance to inspect cabins, although look like typical KOA cabins. Sites are different lengths, sized available for tent trailers as well as for 40 ft. rigs. Grounds are clean, office, and all other places appear to be clean and well-kept. Definitely a "return to" place to stay in the area. We camped at Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA in a Motorhome.

West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA, Gretna, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Came in tired, so was good to have an easy check-in, and to also be able to order Hot Breadsticks/Marinara snack from Pizza corner of Office, and due to the fact that we had made reservations in March, we received the standard rate, not the higher rate for special event times. Overall a very nice place to stay with guidance to our site and easy hookup as did not unhook our tow vehicle for overnighter. Overall a very nice place to stay and would definitely stay here again - but will check on "special events" going on in the area as this does have a tendency to rain prices for all places. We camped at West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Can't really speak for places to see & do as we were there for an overnight stay. But was fairly quiet even with lots of activity going on with 'bike' rentals, etc. and families spending Father's Day together. There is a coffee in the office for those wishing a cup of coffee, snacks available to buy, etc.

Wild Bill Cody is North Platte's claim to fame .. do go to city park to see the statue, and carousel as well as Union Pacific display of steam engine.

Also the Ranch out by the rodeo grounds is nice to walk around without being charges, the house tour does have a fee attached.

Cheyenne KOA, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely place to stay, wish we had more time to spend here, staff is friendly, efficient, and professional. We had a full-hookup site including cable tv. The layout is great, there are camp sites, tent sites, cabins, miniature golf, pool, dog run, and appears to have rv storage area. Showers are separate rooms from restrooms, both of which are clean, and being separated which is nice as not holding anyone up who need to use the restrooms. The office/supplies/gift store is very well stocked, and even has stamps both first class as well as postcard stamps. Can't go wrong by staying here. We camped at Cheyenne KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Pulled in just as a thunderstorm was cresting and emptied rain as only in Wyoming it can do ... staff was helpful, but even they cannot alter weather conditions. They did guide us to our site, and began placing pallets in wet areas around the units which were sited/being sited. Some people were turned off by condition of park, however the staff response was excellent in my opinion. Yes, it is medium-grade gravel over dirt, and the sites nearest the highway as pull-thru sites are unique as they are head in/head out side by side on the outside row where we had electric/water only. However sites are good for those of us only wanting a layover site for the night. Office staff was very professional and friendly, so will return again in the future.
