Eagle's Rest RV Park & Camping, Chadron, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The spaces are rather close to each other but are well shaded. The park is dusty due to a well traveled gravel road next to the park. However, the park is well maintained, the owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The sewer hookup is somewhat awkward but the guide to your spot ensured you were able to connect. We camped at Eagle's Rest RV Park & Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Lot's of things to do if you museums and old well kept buildings. The Dawes County Museum was very interesting. Nearby Fort Robinson is a must see and you can easily spend most of day there. For a good meal in an unlikely setting you should visit The Outpost which is quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

County Line Campground, Summit, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a night. Owner is very friendly. They have been very busy this summer and so took a site that was a personal visitor site for the the owners and were using it for guests as well and we ended up next to the camp host/owners site. It was easy in and out. Nothing to do nearby but it is a good place to stop when traveling. They do not offer the PA discount on weekend but are a Good Sam park. We camped at County Line Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Bemidji KOA, Bemidji, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 nights as a convenient place to stay to see the local sites. It was your average KOA park, nothing special. Road construction down the road made access somewhat complicated if you were coming into town from the east. We camped at Bemidji KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Top O' The Morn Resort & Campground, Iron River, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed just one night but would not mind going back in the future for a bit longer stay. Owners were very friendly. Campground was very clean and there several well placed can and trash disposal sites to encourage that. I have to admit that this was the first RV park we have ever stayed at with on an onsite bar. We camped at Top O' The Morn Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Michigamme Shores Campground, Champion, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We had a site with a wonderful view of the lake. The site was fairly level and mostly gravel. Those were the pluses. On the other hand the site was a back-in site off of rather narrow and short diameter circle. People park cars and boat trailers inside the circle adding to the navigation difficulties. There is a train track through the park although only 2 trains a day come through. We camped at Michigamme Shores Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

St Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA, St Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull thru site that was not even graveled. Fortunately there had not been any recent rains. The site was laid out very awkwardly in that the electric was far to the rear of the site and shared between 2 sites. The sewer was far forward. Our RV has the electric in the rear so that was not an issue, however, the RV next to us with the more common electric in the middle of the unit on the street side needed two extension cords to connect. I needed an extension on the sewer line to reach. If you stay at this park I would highly recommend walking your site before accepting it. The staff made up for it in the great customer service they offered. We camped at St Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mark Twain Cave Campground, Hannibal, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

As previously stated this is an older park. We were in a pull thru site which are very narrow and close. The closeness was not an issue for just an overnight stay, however, since the sites slope somewhat, after we got level having an extra step would have been nice (even with the 4 steps we have). If you don't mind a back in site you should take a look at the "C" section where the sites are very shady. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunset Park Campground, Smith Center, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a sad little park surrounded by ag/industrial activities and is overpriced for what you get. The sites are fairly level and long enough but only a few are graveled and the rest are grass. Only 4 or 5 have 50A service with the rest being 30A. The fence surrounding 2 sides of the park is in desperate need of repair. Adding a fence along the north side of the park would help to separate it from the noise and sight of a farm implement repair and welding business. The exit road has a large mud puddle the could and should be filled with gravel. There is a new hospital being built in town and my understanding is that large number of the persons involved in the building of it are travelers and so I think that explains the relatively high price charged to stay here. The park seems to have a wifi connection but that connection has no internet access. I rated the service as bad due to that and that there was no owner/manager on sight to voice concerns to. The park is on an honor system, you choose your site and then go the kiosk to deposit cash or check as payment. Would I stay here again? Unfortunately, yes, as it is the only park near the family we come here to visit. We camped at Sunset Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a community owned theater here that runs current movies for an amazing low entry fee of $5 per person. One block from the theater is a pizza place called Center Fire Pizza. Very good pizzas cooked in a wood fired pizza oven.

Weatherford KOA (formerly Serenity Ranch RV Park), Weatherford, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent enough campground for an overnight stay. The staff was excellent. I inquired about a route to avoid Ft. Worth traffic as we wear heading north from I-20. The park owner showed us a route on a tertiary level road that was actually a very pleasant drive. I would have rated cleanliness higher but it seemed that some residents (long term, I think) didn't seem to think the pet rules applied to them for cleaning up after your pet. Another oberservation, like all KOA's they had a leash free dog park, however what was there was about 30'x30' and yet it was on the edge of an open field that was perhaps an acre. I would probably stay there again for an overnight as the staff made the stop worthwhile. We camped at Weatherford KOA (formerly Serenity Ranch RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Leander / NW Austin KOA, Leander, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This park has priced itself into the "silly stupid" range as far as I am concerned. I understand that it is in a prime location, however, you really get no break at all for a weekly stay. Had I not had a lot of VKR points to spend I would not have stayed here. Our space had tree limbs that needed pruning and I was told by the office that they would take care of that. After a couple of days I approached the maintenance man directly and he said he was unaware of that. To his credit he went immediately to gather the needed tools and returned to take care of it. Office staff? When we left a permanent resident needed to move her truck so we had clearance to pull out. I went over and asked her to move her truck but I guess we were not fast enough as she returned her truck to the place it had been after a short wait. Rather than pitch a fit at the office we made do with some difficulty. Will I stay here again? Likely not. We camped at Leander / NW Austin KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

JBSA Hancock Cove (Ft Sam Houston) Canyon Lake RV Park (Military FamCa, Canyon Lake, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is based on 1 week stay. This is a very pretty area and the park could be outstanding with some work. The restrooms used were in the building where the laundry is located. They were not clean nor was the laundry. I could not figure out what all the staff did. There was one man that appeared to drive endlessly around the park and do nothing. Dog waste receptacles did not appear to have been emptied in weeks. The flag at the entrance was tattered, unacceptable for a military installation. I would stay here again as it is very good value but was disappointed with some aspects of the park. We camped at JBSA Hancock Cove (Ft Sam Houston) Canyon Lake RV Park (Military FamCa in a Fifth Wheel.

Desert Willow RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Stayed here one night. Management was very friendly. Cable above average. Fee was 50 cents higher than PA price since I used a credit card, but still one very good value. I will definitely stay here again when passing through this part of Texas. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA, Pueblo, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The staff were very friendly and we even got a choice of a cookie when we checked in. We were escorted to our spot and the escort was very helpful while we best located our trailer in the spot. A little mowing was in order but they may not have been able to if there was recent rains. Frankly, I would have rated this park much higher had it not been for an obviously long term park resident. I would post a picture if I could. There was a Hitchhiker parked behind us that would surprise me if it was road worthy. It was covered in mold stains, the front compartment door was rotted out, there were no fender skirts on the wheels. In short it was an EYESORE! It spoiled an otherwise awesome view of beautiful Colorado mountains. Were I to stay there again I think I would look at my spot before accepting it. Had I done that and not had the view we had, I may have enjoyed it more. We camped at Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally, Anthony, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

I am surprised that this park was accepted into the KOA system as it has almost none of the amenities you would normally expect from a KOA yet was priced comparable to most KOAs. The office is a temporary building. There is no cable, the wifi is OK but not great, no kids area, no doggy park although it is "under construction", and, worst of all, no ICE. This is west Texas after all. The 2 stars on cleanliness comes from all the trash and garbage around the edges of the park (such as beans, sliced cheese, avocados, charcoal ashes). Walking the dogs was an adventure making sure they did not get into other folks leavings. We stayed 3 nights this time as there were some things of interest we wanted to see in El Paso. The location is convenient to I-10 and we might stay here again for one night only unless there are some amenities to go with the price being paid. Otherwise you get as much ambiance in a Wal-Mart parking lot. We camped at Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally in a Fifth Wheel.
