South Higgins Lake State Park, Roscommon, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2006 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful location was one of nicest parks in Mi. Campground has gone downhill; restrooms and showers not cleaned as often as should be. Encountered many rude campers riding dirt bikes down roads, playing electric guitars after quiet time, and partying all night long. No rangers to be found. This park used to be my one of my favorite destinations but after this trip I will not return for some time. We camped at South Higgins Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

My favorite campground. Beautiful lake good fishing. I would try to avoid camping on weekends though lots of rowdy weekend warriors. Also I try to keep coolers under lock and key on weekends. The beautiful beach seems to attract a lot of riffraff. We camped at South Higgins Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Is a nice family park on Lake Huron. Lots of stuff for family to do in town of Port Huron just to the south of park. Fire wood was sold inside park and had a very nice campground store. We camped at Lakeport State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bay City State Recreation Area, Bay City, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2006 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice family park close to Bay City. There is a lot to do for kids and adult in this area. The swimming is no the best but I was informed that the chamber of commerse is going to install piers for swimmers that go out past the green slime. Once you get past the slime the swimming is good nice sandy bottom. We camped at Bay City State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

A beautiful park with acres of trails. Seven lakes inside park all with fishing; some have piers. No motors allowed on lakes. Very quiet park with abundant wildlife. Also awsome photo opportunities. Grouse Haven is modern campground and two primitive campgrounds in park. Store across from campground with supplies. We camped at Rifle River State Forest Campground in a Travel Trailer.
