Kirby Landing COE, Kirby, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

I really wanted to give this park higher marks because of the very nice lake but because of the site I had and the high weeds and grass everywhere I can only give it a four. My sight and several others were the most sloped and poorly designed that I have seen since I began camping in 2009. Because of the location of the sewer connections to my fifth wheel I had to park on a severely sloped part of the site and blocked the entrance into my spot. I do not know when the grass was last mowed but I stayed there for 6 nights and no one mowed anything. The dog walk near the motel area the weeds were so high I would has lost sight of my dog. Trying to get out of my sight pulling forward to proceed down a dirt road was near impossible due to large trees in the way. Branches scratched my coach. Dogs were running around without leases and no one did anything about it. Not much management going on at this location. Doubt that I will return. We camped at Kirby Landing COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a COE park but there is a motel within the park with 12 rooms. My family stayed there and the rooms were very nice. Their room had a full kitchen, bath, two queen beds and a futon. This place has a very nice lake and marina. Kirby and many of the towns in the area are very small with not a lot of choices for shopping and eating.

Clear Spring COE, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here several times. Have always liked Clear Springs. Great water pressure and electric. Tight turns on the roads once you get into park but it was a Holiday and they were booked up. The grille and fire pit had not been cleaned for quite a while. Apparently they could not get the volunteers to do that and we all know the government employees won't do it. When you come to this park use FM2148 do not use Highway 67 when pulling a trailer. You will high center over the railroad track. Watch for low hanging branches from the trees as you drive on the roads coming to the park. We camped at Clear Spring COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Not far from Atlanta TX who has a Walmart. Not far from Texarkana that has a population of about 66,000 people. A lot to do in that city.

Dinosaur Valley State Park, Glen Rose, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

My wife requested I write a review on this park. She and a niece went there on April 28, 2018 only to hike the trails. When they returned, they told me of the terrible time they had. Slow check-in with two people working the gate. The trails were not marked so they could not find the trail with the waterfall. They attempted to use the ladies room. The first one was over flowing and they could not get to the stalls without walking in sewage. They drove to second one only to find they were overflowing as well. Only one stall available with a very long wait. They could not find any employee to tell them of the issues. We have found this type of poor service in many Texas State parks and that is the main reason we never camp there any longer. Seems to be the norm for State employees. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail), Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Great for us for overnight stay. Nice views, clean, only has about 30 sites. Some pull thru. Reduced my overall grade since grass had not been mowed at our site nor the others close to us. Also our site and the site next to us had dog poop left behind. Café not open again. We camped at Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail) in a Fifth Wheel.

We have never been able to find a good restaurant in Raton NM. The town seems to be running down more each time we stay here. Sorry but that is our feelings about it.

Shady Pines RV Park, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 3 nights during June and it was the first time ever. Park is extremely well maintained. Great full hookups. Some of the trees are getting large so watch where you park so slides will not hit them. We had a great pull thru. Does have some traffic noise since you are near highway 67. Will stay again. We camped at Shady Pines RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lucy's Place RV Park, La Veta, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

First time here. Sites are very close and tight. Wi Fi was broken more than worked and poor when working. Stayed a month, mid 80's during the day with a nice breeze. Office staff and owners very nice and helpful.

Would stay again but not for a month. Not that much to do in and around La Veta. We camped at Lucy's Place RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stock up on groceries before arrival. One store in town and it is expensive. Not a lot of food choices in town and they are not always open. Not a great deal to do in La Veta but Walsenburg only 13 miles away.

Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort, Creede, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Monthy rate is $675.00 plus electric. Sites are spacious, park in great but too expensive in my opinion. Many things to do in and around the area. Beautiful mountains. Very nice people in office. Rained much of the time we were there. Great weather other than the rain. Cool at night. Would have rated better if price was cheaper. We camped at Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail), Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Poor Wi Fi, stayed here before and would stay again. Site 17, is a little tight and close to ones on each side but ok. Great views, quiet, friendly staff. The cafe was not open when we were there. Went into town to eat did not think the town of Ration was that great. Old buildings, old neighborhoods. We camped at Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail) in a Fifth Wheel.

North Texas Jellystone (formerly Rustic Creek Ranch), Burleson, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

$79.00 per night is for one camper and 2 adults and 2 children and that does not include the price for the water park. Now if you have plenty of money with young children this is the place to be. This is the second time we brought grand children here but it will be the last. I wanted to give it a better rating than last time but when I saw overall condition of the park I could not. High weeds everywhere. Over grown shrubs and trees, extremely poor internet, an ice machine that charges $3.50 for 10 pounds of ice but only weights about 4 pounds. In the office, ice is $3.79 per bag. Staff is very nice but apparently very poor management.

Construction crews adding to water park attractions begin early around 7:30 AM everyday. Many things for young children to do but my grand children liked on a few of the activities. We camped at North Texas Jellystone (formerly Rustic Creek Ranch) in a Fifth Wheel.

Have stayed here before and will return again. Site #E13 long and pretty level, shaded, near restrooms and showers. Our site had 30 amp service. Park is clean and maintained. Hill Country Cottage and RV Resort, New Braunfels, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I gave it a higher score than last time only because they had my site where they were supposed to. Many long term trailers and workers here and park seems to be going down hill. Appears they are wanting more cabin business that RV. Now my site was a pull thru and pretty level, power and water good, cable worked pretty well. Friendly staff. I would stay here again if the price remains the same but only is the 300 section. We camped at Hill Country Cottage and RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
