Colorado Heights Camping Resort, Monument, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

As someone else stated-TREES. They are a big problem getting to and from your site. We have a 32' TT and still had to be very careful. I do not see how some of these large MH and 5th wheels make it without damage. We have stayed here on several occasions and that is the main problem. I don't know why they don't cut some trees. It's not like there is a shortage in the park. Would have given a higher rating except for this. Other than that: nice staff, very helpful in all respects. We had a site at the highest area in the park and therefore easy satellite setup. I am sure others had a problem. Fair wifi. We would stay here again. We camped at Colorado Heights Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Most KOA's are overpriced. This one is not. Site was fairly easy in-out with trash cans at each site. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good wifi, good ATT, easy satellite set-up. Good cable. Roads and sites are gravel but level. Not much to fuss about. We would stay here again. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have the time visit the statue of Sir Barton, the first triple crown winner in 1919, in a local park and then see Ayres Natural Bridge. It is 10 miles north of town and then 5 miles on a poor road but worth it.

Hill's RV Park & Campground, Plankinton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no-frills park, which is fine with us, though there is a pool. All sites are long, easy-in, easy-out pull throughs with plenty of space between. They main problem was that all roads are gravel and since most people would not drive slowly the dust was bad. Easy satellite set-up and good AT&T. Wifi was interesting. At times it could be great and others it was so slow that it was useless. There wasn't any logical reason as it could be bad when there were only two rigs in the park and bad when the park was full. Go figure. The owner was extremely nice and helpful. We stayed here for a week waiting out July 4th. We would stay here again. We camped at Hill's RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cutty's Okoboji Resort Club, Spirit Lake, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is truly one of the nicest C2C parks we have used. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was trees. There were too many to even think about satellite reception and this is probably the reason they only have wifi in the main registration area. It is excellent there. That being said about the satellite, they charge $2.00/day for cable and it is digital, not the grainy analog stuff you usually pay for. Now for more positives: the staff was very friendly and helpful, easy pull through sites, adequate room between rigs, good AT&T. Grill at each site if needed. I am an old f--- but they had lots of activities for everyone. On the weekend they were full with many kids but everyone was well behaved and things quieted down at 10:00. Great pool and excellent cafe in the main hall. I ate breakfast there twice: it was good and inexpensive. Laundry was inexpensive and convenient. They entire area was very nice and we would stay here again. We camped at Cutty's Okoboji Resort Club in a Travel Trailer.

Once again, as I said about Olewein, IA, there is a Fareway grocery here and their meat department is EXCELLENT. Don't go there if you have limited freezer space!!

Lake Shore RV Resort, Oelwein, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

I would have given a higher rating except for three things: utility placement, WiFi, mail acceptance. The water and electric hookups are at the far back of the sites and required all of our extensions to reach them. Sewer was fine. Fire rings were placed close to the rig behind your site and would have caused a problem if they had been used. Thank goodness they weren't. Whoever said the WiFi was good must have used it at 3:00 AM. It was fair for about 20% of the time and awful the remaining. We were not streaming or using Skype; I suspect others were. We were using an external adapter and it usually works great. There was a strong signal but it sometime took several minutes to load a site. Coast to Coast says they accept visitor mail. I called to double check. Yes. When I got there I asked when their mail was delivered. Was told they only accepted UPS and FedEx. Contacted the local PO and picked it up there. Send it to General delivery. On a positive note it was very quiet, plenty of space at sites, good for satellite reception, fair AT&T. Lots of rain while we were there but very good drainage. Managers were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Lake Shore RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA), Batesville, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Some of the bad reviews didn't apply to us. Initially we understood that the hook-ups were w/e only. We were given our choice of sites and had full hook-ups. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The site was somewhat un-level but not impossible. Our area was very quiet at night. We asked for and got an area with no trees for easy satellite set-up. ATT was good. Wifi was available only at two spots and one of them wasn't working. There was a lot of cruising around in golf carts and therefore raising dust but all in all this was a very satisfactory campground. We would stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Bass Lake RV Campground, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in 2003 and were not impressed. Scratch that. Either it is much improved or we previously missed something. The manager was very friendly, it was quiet, sites were easy in-easy out, very level. This is the first time in a long time we didn't have to put blocks under the wheels. We had easy satellite set-up, others would have had problems. Wifi was fair, though we have come to expect that. ATT was good. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Bass Lake RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

McDowell Nature Preserve, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Viewed from the point of a senior citizen this is not a great CG. It is very difficult to get anything level. The sites are off level every which way. It is impossible to get satellite reception due to the trees, over the air is iffy and cell phone is iffy. That being said for younger people it is a great place. The kids have playgrounds and there are many nature trails. Overall it is a nice campground, just not for us. We camped at McDowell Nature Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Goose Creek RV & Camping Resort, Newport, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Some of the things that others didn't like didn't bother us. The staff was very friendly, the park was clean. Some have mentioned that the vast majority are permanent residents. This is true but all sites appear to be well kept, not a bunch of "junkers" as we have seen at other parks. ATT was good, easy satellite set-up. Sites were a little close and angled up in the back but we had no trouble leveling. I would have given this a little higher rating except for the wifi. The cost was $3.95/day. We have an external adapter which gives us excellent reception. We had a good signal but the wifi was VERY slow most of the time. We weren't streaming or skyping and it sometime took over a minute to load a site. We would stay here again/ We camped at Goose Creek RV & Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Wilderness Presidential Resort, Spotsylvania, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

As someone else said there are trashy RVs all over the place but as far as our area it was satisfactory. We were lucky and had a site where I could get satellite; there would be many that couldn't because of trees. There is no wifi except in Clubhouse. It is adequate. ATT cell service is iffy. We stay here to visit relatives but be aware that traffic in the entire Fredericksburg area is AWFUL. Don't plan to get anywhere fast at any time of day. Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the most nicely laid out campgrounds we have been in. Large open sites. Easy access to Mt. Airy (Mayberry) Easy satellite set-up, good ATT. The only negative is the wifi. It worked for about 1/2 hour one day. Other than that we couldn't even get email. Don't plan on it. Other than that we really liked the park. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sites were easy in-easy out. Getting satellite reception was interesting considering all of the trees. Good ATT. Pretty good wifi. Very nice staff. C2C members be aware: on 4-1-2017 they raised their "add-on" fee from $10 to $20. We had reserved prior to 4-1 so they honored the $10. We camped at Pride RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground, Chattanooga, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff, very quiet at night. Good ATT. We had no trouble with satellite setup though others would. The big problem is they have no concept on how to place rigs. We had a 32' TT + truck. Had to place markers at rear of TT to make sure it wasn't hit and park truck at an odd angle. Two sites down from us was a much larger site where they put a pop-up (after we were already settled) that could have fit in ours with room to spare. There were quite a few others in the same situation. Someone said wifi was great. We have an external adapter and the wifi was very slow. We camped at Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Birmingham South Campground, Pelham, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice staff and well stocked store. Our site was easy to turn into but there were others that had interesting experiences. Our satellite setup was easy but there were others where it would be impossible because of trees. Good ATT and convenient shopping areas. That being said it is VERY noisy in the AM. Everyone in the surrounding area must go to work on a Harley or a truck with no muffler between 5:30 AM- 6:30 AM! We carry an external wifi adapter and were able to get a good signal but the wifi itself was one step above useless. We do not stream movies etc, just email and some surfing. It would sometimes take 3-4 minutes to load a site if you didn't get dropped first. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice no-frills park which is fine with us. Don't need pools, club house etc. Sites were easy in-easy out. Our site was easy satellite setup. Owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Only negative was wifi. Considering the limited occupancy it was very spotty. Were dropped on quite a few occasions and it was VERY slow.
