R&D Family Campground, Milford, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We have been here for several months. This little park is a real gem! Nothing fancy, but big trees, shade, grass, big sites, owners live on site and very helpful, constantly working to keep it clean, quiet, and well maintained. The directions are a little daunting, but it is located on a Virginia Scenic Byway, so the drive is beautiful! 45 minutes from Fredericksburg or Richmond, 25 minutes to Kings Dominion amusement park, 10 minutes to charming, historic Bowling Green with gas, grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants. Small store with very basic supplies on site. Decent, frequently graded gravel roads, and level sites. Above ground pool. Bathrooms are very clean, with multiple toilets and showers, and there are laundry facilities. A few cabins, large tent camping area, some trailers for rent, some long pull throughs, most sites are back-ins. There are a number of long term residents, mostly retirees, some contract workers, and the owners are strict about site maintenance. There is one nice area where three or four RVs can park in a circle with a large tent covered picnic table area for small group gatherings. I was prompted to write this review after a recent experience with our refrigerator breaking down, when one of the owners spent about two hours diagnosing and fixing the problem (he has 30+ years HVAC experience and 10+ years with RVs), and refusing any payment! We have been full-timing for 3 years now, and have rarely found a nicer place! And never found a better value for the price! We were able to get some Dish satellite signal here, but there are only a few sites with the view of the Southern sky and one of the three satellites is very close to the Western horizon. We camped at R&D Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Eagles Landing RV Park, Holt, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Squeaky clean, manicured lawns, no shade (easy satellite signal!), spacious sites, reasonable rates (we booked a month). Many residents appear to be long term, but nice equipment and neat sites. Quiet rural area with distant highway and railroad sounds, occasional aircraft from bases nearby, not annoying. Easy access to Crestview and Pensacola, Navarre Beach about 45 minutes away, Blackwater River State Park 10 minutes. Facilities are modest, but very clean. Owners are nice and helpful. We plan to book another month in the Spring! We camped at Eagles Landing RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ozark View RV Park, Omaha, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful, peaceful place, very quiet, we stayed over a month. It is in an area known for scenic beauty and cruising through the Ozark mountains, Buffalo River, White River, and just South of Branson MO. It is situated on a mountain top with panoramic views. The spacious sites are on top and terraced down the sides. There are many large, mature trees on the property, manicured lawns and decorative plantings, a small pond and open pavilion with picnic tables. We saw deer, many birds (including hummingbirds), a woodchuck, and squirrels. The bathroom facilities are modest, but very clean. There are a few long term residents, with nice equipment and sites neatly maintained. The owners are super nice and helpful! We will return there whenever possible! We camped at Ozark View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful big trees and lovely Jonathan Creek in mountain valley! The creek area and a long, wide grassy strip are parklike, with picnic tables, swings, and fire rings for anyone in the park to use. Facilities are beautiful and very clean! Large open/closed pavilions for groups and weekend live gospel/bluegrass music. Easy access to shopping and sightseeing--Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokies, Asheville. We will return! We camped at Pride RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
