Collingsworth County Pioneer's Park, Wellington, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is an unusual county park as it adjoins a state rest area and utilizes its restrooms. A few of the gravel sites are nicely shaded, but utilities are placed in awkward spots to facilitate sharing, I guess. A free dump site is located at the rest area. River access with lots of grass, and stickers. We camped at Collingsworth County Pioneer's Park in a Motorhome.

Great Plains State Park, Mountain Park, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a fisher's delight, but also good for nature lovers. It is clean, including private bathrooms - which contain a sink, toilet and shower. Large sites with nice grass; no bad stickers for dog. Few trees for shade. Our lakeside site had no sewer. Just about all had water views. Trails are many and mostly require moderate hiking skill. We camped at Great Plains State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Isabel - La Vista, Rye, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful area with campgrounds a good distance from lake. We had one of the few electric sites with a water view. Paved trails to and around lake. Roads a little tight, and backing into some sites difficult for larger rvs. We camped at Lake Isabel - La Vista in a Motorhome.

Lake Cahuilla, La Quinta, California

Date of Stay: February, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Conveniently located near town, this county park is nice enough, but over-priced. Gravel/dirt sites are average size with water and electric hookups at front. Flies enjoy trash cans with no lids. Extra fees for dogs, yet no dog facilities. There is a little hiking at west edge of park. Can not swim in the lake. The Passport America discount is supposedly available Mon-Wed (except holidays). We checked in Wednesday and told it was a holiday. After searching, the only holiday we found was Employee Legal Awareness Day. Guess there is some kind of holiday every day. Would not return. We camped at Lake Cahuilla in a Motorhome.

Oasis Palms RV Park, Thermal, California

Date of Stay: February, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park was once a high class RV resort. Now it is a very nice RV park. The quality amenities are still there and clean, but showing their age. Staff is friendly, helpful, and busy. We picked our citrus breakfast each morning and had plenty of surrounding area to walk the dog. Nice little Mexican general store 1/4 mile away. Would stay again. Price cited is the Passport America rate, with full hookups. We camped at Oasis Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cleveland County Fairgrounds, Norman, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a week here visiting relatives and taking care of personal business. The camping area is gravel, mostly back-in along a fence. There is a large grass area that leads to a huge park with wilderness area trails, disc golf, and dog park. Walking distance to many retail services. We camped at Cleveland County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

K River Campground, Moyers, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects a Passport America discount. This place is our kind of campground. Rustic and laid back but clean and comfortable. Pay for laundry and ice on he honor system. Resident dogs roam grounds along with chickens and at least one cat. Our dog loved it (didn't bother the chickens) and enjoyed walking along, and in, the river a couple times a day. Manager and owner both friendly. No local TV, but clubhouse has satellite, Internet, movie and book library. Good Verizon signal. We plan to return. We camped at K River Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Thunderbird State Park, Norman, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Little Axe annex, which is a bit different than other camping areas of the lake. Our pull-through site was right along the shore with a concrete pad, shade, table, fire ring, but 30 amp and no sewer. 50 amp sites are pretty tight and back in. Big clean showers, perhaps because we were the only ones there except for a small surge of weekenders. Quiet. Goat-head stickers abound, along with a herd of cats. We camped at Lake Thunderbird State Park in a Motorhome.
