Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was the second time we stay here. Very easy on/off from I-81. It accommodates big rigs very well: HDT with long 5th wheel (our old set-up) or 41 ft motorhome towing a full size pick-up truck (our new set-up). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though the office was closed when we got there, someone met us and led us to a site. I settled up the next morning. If you get there late and no one is around, they allow you to choose any site and pay the next day. We did not notice any noise from the interstate. It was very quiet. The site was wide and had a concrete pad and it was very level. We will stop here again in our north/south travels. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You pass a truck stop as you go to/from the campground, so it is very convenient if you need fuel or a bite to eat etc.

Milton / Gulf Pines KOA, Milton, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground, very well maintained. The sites are long and large. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice dog walk and trails through the woods. The washer and dryers worked well; the pool was clean and heated. The only downsides are that the WiFi did not work well and depending on your direction of approach to enter the campground, you have to make a U-turn to get in. Easy to maneuver our 40 ft motorhome entering and inside the park. We camped at Milton / Gulf Pines KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bill's RV repair shops is only a few miles from the campground. They also make on site calls. We had our chassis air repaired while there and we found them very helpful and professional. We also used Empire Freightliner in Pensacola for a oil pressure sensor and generator issue we were having. They worked us in and completed the repairs in a couple of hours. They are very professional and knowledgeable and do lots of motorhome repairs.

Cajun Palms RV Resort, Henderson, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a resort RV park. Access from I-10 is easy. The entire park has concrete roads and pads on all sites. It is easy to navigate a large rig around the park. The staff is friendly, professional and helpful. The owner is very visible and welcoming. It is a gated park with coded access. They also have security. This place is packed on the weekends and the two weekends we were there they had activities that were very well attended. It is a family resort with kids activities as well. The Wi-Fi was not locked and the signal was very strong and fast. We used their workout room and laundry facilities, which were good. The owner limits the number of permanent sites to about 30. During the week it was not very full at all. It is clean and very well maintained. We plan to stay here again. We had a great time! We camped at Cajun Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

KOC Kampground, New Iberia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is nice and well maintained. There are a lot of permanent residents. This is not a problem though. It is large and they have some pull through sites. Everything worked as expected. Highway 90 is very close and there is road noise, but it did not really bother us too much with the windows closed. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you have a dog, beware of the fire ant hills. There are many of them in the grassy areas. We camped at KOC Kampground in a Fifth Wheel.

Noccalula Falls Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The park is nice. We have a very large tow vehicle and we were able to navigate through the roads. We had a pull through site. It was on a grade and it took some effort to level the trailer. Most of the other sites appeared to be more level. The falls are interesting. There is a hiking trail, but we only followed it a short ways due to time constraints. The staff is very friendly. We were here only one night. The utilities worked as expected. We camped at Noccalula Falls Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is very nice and secure despite it's location in an industrial area along canals of Lake Ponchartrain. Everything worked as expected and the staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the French Quarter was $6 per person round trip. It leaves about 10, 4 and 8. The return trips are about 4 and 8. There is a 15 min travel time each way. If you need a cab, it should cost you between $15 and $20 one way. They did not have a standard pull through site for us and we had to stay in a Superior site which was more expensive. The rate above included a 10% AARP discount, taxes, and port fee. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Fifth Wheel.
