Edisto Beach State Park, Edisto Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the beach campground and had a magnificent experience. The park personnel are friendly and helpful, our site was large and level. We had a marsh-view site where it was beautiful to watch the tide rise and fall and birds swim and fish in the salt marsh just a few yards behind our motorhome. While there are no ocean view sites, beach access is easy via several walkways through the dunes. This is a pet-friendly park which was great for our three dogs. The only reasons I give a 9 rather than a 10 are that 1) The drinking water is somewhat salty. We had already read about this before arriving and just used water from our fresh-water tank for drinking. 2) Our site (and maybe a couple of others) was slightly flooded during a particularly high-tide. This was not a problem since the site is so large and we were able to move forward onto a dry portion after waking up our first morning to find our back wheels and picnic area under a couple of inches of water. The water receded that day, and never returned, allowing us a happy campfire the next night. We camped at Edisto Beach State Park in a Motorhome.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, Jefferson Township, New Jersey

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

If you love the great outdoors and don't want or need lots of planned recreational activities, this may well be the best campground in New Jersey. At $20/night ($25 if you make a reservation), you'll get a paved parking space. Most are level. The campground host is very knowledgable and helpful. Sites are large and wooded and beautiful. Most water hookups are to long hoses that snake from a few central locations, and in a few cases you'll need an extra long hose to reach them, but it's worth the effort. Quite and peaceful. Deep in the woods, but only a few miles from great restaurants, a shopping mall, and theater. We camped at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in a Motorhome.

Ohiopyle State Park, Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

However many days you plan to stay here, plan to stay a few more. This is a simply beautiful park with spacious campsites, many of which are pet friendly. There are many hiking trails, and access to the Great Allegheny Rail Trail for bicycling directly from the campground. Nearby Ohiopyle has more great hiking, biking, and river activities. We camped at Ohiopyle State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The site we stayed on was electric-only, and water hookups were not available nearby, so come with a full tank. Firewood available on site. Follow the campground's direction to avoid a 9% grade hill between Ohiopyle and the campsites. The hill inside the campground is also very steep. Use low gear.

Harts Content Campground, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for several nights while visiting friends in the area, and we needed full hookups after dry camping for a few days before. The campground is mostly populated by seasonal campers, and the owner was quite friendly when he greeted us. But overall the campground can best be described as shabby. The view behind our RV was a field of rubble across the street. The site was gravel, but surrounded with mud. The front view was of well-past-their-prime motorhomes set up for seasonal camping. Tight curves on the interior roads. A good place to stop on the way somewhere else. We camped at Harts Content Campground in a Motorhome.

Timberline Lake Camping Resort, New Gretna, New Jersey

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Timberline Lake was delightful, and the people couldn't have been more friendly. We stayed pre-season, but it looks like they have lots of activities planned for the summer. The only downside is that the overwhelming majority of the campground is seasonal campers with permanent setups. On the other hand, the short-term sites are right on the water and beautiful. We camped at Timberline Lake Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Branson Stagecoach Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park to stay in while visiting Branson. We were traveling in a rented 31' Class C motorhome, which is great to stay in but difficult to drive around. One of the best amenities at Branson Stagecoach RV Park is the free shuttle service to the shows. The owner, was more than happy to research show schedules and provide door-to-door service. The WiFi is strong and fast, and the showers and restrooms are clean. The Outpost Grill next door, run by the owner's wife, is a great place for breakfast or lunch with delicious food and friendly service at a reasonable price. We especially enjoyed the giant pancake that was bigger than the plate it came on! The owners are great hosts who will do everything possible to make your stay pleasurable and fun. We camped at Branson Stagecoach Campground in a Motorhome.

Riverview RV Park, Lake Ozark, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Riverview RV Park is a beautiful find near the Lake of the Ozarks. The lots are gravel but level. The WiFi is fast and strong, and each spot has a fire ring, picnic table, and full hookups. The setting is beautiful with most sites having a view of the river. The only negative is that there is a major highway about 100 yards from the campground. It is on a flat stretch so although there is a constant hum of traffic there are no harsh sounds from trucks downshifting or air breaking. All in all we had a great night here and recommend this park to anyone looking for a nice place to stay near Lake Ozark. We camped at Riverview RV Park in a Motorhome.
